"Line dump" won't cause a hard opening on a go and throw. Think T.A.R.D. That's real line dump. (ok, so there's no air speed) In the bagged deployment world, if the bag stays shut until line-stretch, the canopy will not be affected. If some how the bag was stripped off the canopy, then the opening will be affected. Bag Strip is extremely rare. All that is needed are the locking stows. The rest of the line stows are only there to keep them orderly and get the away from the closing flaps and you. What people blame on line dump is almost always not controlling the pack job well enough and ensuring the slider is securely against the stops. The slider is already an inch or 2 down the lines after the bag comes off. Air gets past the slider hits the bottom skin and expands rapidly. Blammo... must be line dump...but it's not. So, if the primary stow stays closed until line stretch, all is good. The tail pocket is there to aid in orderly pay-out of the lines. If all the lines fall out but the primary stow is intact, you would never know the difference. My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto

Hey hydro, the 42 wasn't a suggestion. There was more to that hastily posted thought, but of course I don't recall what it is. World, I use either a 42 toxic or 42 AV or 46 AV from. Prefer either the Toxic or the 46 but have no issue with a standard AV. My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto

If for some reason you begin coughing, put both hands on the regulator and hold it in your mouth. A natural instinct is to get whatever is in your mouth, out so hold it in there. If it makes you hurl, same again. Hold it in there. You can always switch to secondary after you're done

I use a 42 from that object. The opening speed was probably normal. My guess is that the off heading surprise made it feel otherwise. My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto

You have a valid point since my reply is more suited for freefall than hanging in the harness. Good catch. However ... Unless you actually pull up on the friction adapter from the bottom it will not make it slip. Since the original poster has slippage issues while hanging in the harness, this quite possibly will do nothing, but it wont make it worse. What it did, quite well I might add, is stop the slip in freefall. I've tracked off many many times pulling legstraps back in place before deploying. That fixed it. After opening, there is tension on the friction adapter but not the free end. My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto

Heel clicking sounds like you're frantically trying to get back to Kansas I probably was... you'll see My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto

How odd? I've taught students to perform heel clicks exactly zero times. Change *heel clicks* to *toe taps* and it's a much better read. Good luck peregrinerose My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto

Put a keeper above the friction adapter. Pull the excess upward. Fold the excess forward in 1/2 then pull that part through the keeper. Stuff the rest in the upper leg pad. It's easy to do and it's secure. Not all upper leg pads allow for this but most can be easily modified. It has the advantage of not slipping and also allows the user to easily grab the very end of the leg strap webbing and free it. My harness is very secure. After opening, I sometimes wish to tighten the leg straps a little more to aid with harness turns. Grab the end, pull it down and tighten. Takes about a second. So I get on this horse one day in an indoor arena. I try to make it canter and the person who was taking care of the horse says ... " Bet you can't make it do that" Well, I thought otherwise and was determined to make it canter. and sure enough, a little persuasion and into a nice little trot we go. All smug with a big grin I look over all proud since the stubborn horse easily submitted to the persuasion to run a little. ... and then... it starts running I try to slow it down and it said "no" in horse. Pulling on the reigns did nothing but piss off the horse. I began to squeeze the horse to stay on it since it is an arena and going around corners and falling off and slamming into the ground and fence seemed like a painful action. I now pass the person and they are smiling big since I no longer have any control of the horse and it's running fast... like a race horse. One the next lap I hear a loud... "RELAX YOUR LEGS" Against every ounce of survival instinct, I released the leg grip and managed to pull back the reigns a little and it slowed down and finally walked. After getting off the horse she said relieved and laughing ... “Now you know why I said you better not do that”. I think back to when she told me “I bet you can't do that “..... and realize my error. Remember that part about the race horse? It was on the tracks less than 6 months prior. I had no Idea it was anything more than a school horse or personally owned recreational type horse. Squeezing the legs against it's ribs is a queue to make it run... and that's exactly what it did. I vote in that particular instance, versus a standard on target no pressure skydive that riding a horse is more dangerous. My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Thanks for posting that Gary. I like it. It is a very good, simple design. Have you thought of extending the hook portion a little to create a flap? If you wanted, it can even be folded back a little so it's even easier to keep the hook away fronm the line. Here is a rough drawing. At that location as well as pretty far up and down stream: Low to no wind, it is slow moving and flat. High wind, it's choppy and still slow moving. It's a wide river so it's a good swim if you find yourself in the middle without a boat and no floatation. Law or not, I don't agree with the citation but they really should wear life vests in either kayaks or canoes. Also, if the weather is cold, and a person finds himself floating alone, it's possible they simply won't make it to shore. People don't wear life vests when taking the tour boat people take back to the park. They are available but I don't know if it's breaking any rules to not actually wear them. Since the tour boat has been in service for so long, I can only guess it's not required in that boat. My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto

Let's see... the face, neck, chest, breast, and head shoulders and arms. The back and the sides of the upper and lower torso including the belly, the right and the left gluteus maximus and the quads, hams on the right and the left leg and the entire lower portion of each leg.... besides that, nothing really.
