If you look and the previous stories in the Hyattsville link, about the acquisition of the HMMWV, the arguments are the same always. These are nothing but 4x4 trucks, with better capabilities than all police SUV's for certain applications. The 2.5 and 5 ton trucks are just those, trucks. They are tailor made for coastal flooding and other flood prone areas. As far as MRAPs go, I've posted story after story of their actual uses, not what the media hype is. A large school district would be a prime candidate for an MRAP. They have their own PD's and in San Diego's case had the MRAP pre-positioned, for fast response to an active shooter scenario.
