Not at all, it's "let's the cops do their jobs" and be fair in reporting controversial incidents. Which statistically fall into well less than 1%, of MILLIONS of police contacts. The media and police have always had competing interests, that's the nature of the game. Not reporting accurately or intentionally omitting things shouldn't be. Many media outlets and the current administration in Washington have been incredibly disingenuous toward law enforcement. I've highlighted several outright untruths about the 1033 program, but the media still continues to report them and there are many more examples. Take the youtube lawyers, and the cops don't even have to be wrong to look bad in many eyes. Here is a reply a Chief of Police wrote to a local print reporter. The story was about tracking the use of force in area police departments. This is a medium sized department in an urban area. This shows the current uphill battle LE faces in the current 24 hour news cycle environment. "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"

In your zeal to keep uncompromisingly current in SC, you've apparently missed that I do not, nor do I ever, encourage unprofessional behavior. I try to provide insight and context through training and experience. I've been doing this, all on the operational side of the building, for almost 30yrs. "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"

I get on here in spurts, one can only bang his head against a wall so much. Please excuse me if I didn't respond to post #86 in a manner in which you consider timely. I make no excuses for those Troopers behavior, being able to control oneself makes you a professional, these guys acted in an unprofessional manner. As far as credibility goes, I've commented ad-nauseam on numerous topics on here, from a position of training and experience. If that lacks credibility for you, that's not my problem. With that said, if we ever met in person, I think we'd get along quite well, along with most dissenting commenters here. "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"

That site tells outright lies and at the very least half-truths on a regular basis. One of it's more vocal contributors just went to jail, why? Because he thought it was a good idea to interfere with officers with his camera and by yelling at the cops, while they were trying to talk a suicidal teen off a bridge. Didn't work out too good for him, and they defended his actions. You obviously haven't read my posts in reference to body cams, or certain departments that have a culture problem(s). Some of these agencies are in locations where all levels local government are rife with corruption, starting with civilian leadership. Chicago and New Orleans come to mind. I can show you a direct correlation between proactive slow downs and a rise in crime. Arrests are down in those areas, crime is up. In the south side of Chicago murders are up 54%, that's not an anomaly. Just because you don't like it, doesn't mean it's not true. Crime spiked post-Rodney King, people became sick of it, and told the cops to crack down, we did, and crime dropped for over a decade. In most areas crime is still down, but in some inner-cities it's spiked dramatically since 2014. "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"

Yep, I agree, I've been wearing one since 2009, I'm not worried about my actions. In todays environment I'm more worried about a false accusation, even though I've spent almost 30yrs building a good reputation. "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"

If you quote CopBlock, then we can't have a serious conversation, I'd think we both agree on that. Look at the crime rates, it's that simple, the current administration along with major media outlets simply attempt to rationalize these numbers. The same way they rationalized and promoted false narratives as they relate to Michael Brown and the "Hands up don't shoot" nonsense. "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"

If you needed more proof that George Zimmerman is scum
skycop replied to yoink's topic in Speakers Corner
I think it's safe to say, beyond a reasonable doubt that George Zimmerman is a douchebag. I think it's apparent he is a wanna-be of the highest magnitude, but this recent action goes well beyond bad taste. It's like spiking a football after scoring a TD..............when you're down 56-0. Regardless of what did or didn't happen to George Zimmerman, it was a painful event, and any normal person would want to move on. What kind of a sick fuck would want that gun anyway? Video appears to show police officer pepper-spraying motorcyclists
skycop replied to ryoder's topic in Speakers Corner
I've said this before, I started wearing a bodycam in 2009, I saw this coming. I'm not, nor have I ever been worried about me or the guys I work with. I'm worried about what others will attempt to say about what I or others did, or didn't do. "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!" -

The funny thing is I don't really care, I just try to bring facts and context to emotionally misinformed things. But in recent history facts really don't matter.............. This is supposedly getting mad? If I see a large group of sportbikers, doing the things I've described, then call them out. It's not stereotyping, it's a factual representation. Forgot that part. I do, all the time, had it happen twice last night, I really don't care what they think. I'm simply saying these things don't occur in a vacuum, like detractors and certain media outlets would lead one to believe. "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!" -

The investigation should be easily able to prove this, calls are documented along with radio traffic and other units video. We should know that in fairly short order, either way it doesn't excuse the officers actions. But again, these folks were not out for a Sunday charity poker run. "Those bikers" behavior is consistent with other groups who engage in the types of riding listed previously. You or I have no idea what occurred before or after the video footage. I made no excuses, I'm looking at this from being a cop, a rider, and driver providing context. The Go-Pro wearing pack of bikers normally aren't just out for a Sunday ride. Many of these type of riders are the ones who have ruined Deals Gap, and make public highways their own playground of stupidity. If they want to go out and ride wheelies, race, and ride recklessly I really don't care. They should just do it in a place that the only ones they will injure or inconvenience are themselves. The officer fucked up and acted like an asshole, two wrongs don't make a right. "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!" -

Doing stupid things, while reacting to people doing stupid things, just brings you down to their level, and violates policy. Those bikers enjoy riding around doing stupid things, like blocking/stopping traffic on highways to do donuts and burnouts. There are so many of them the cops really can't do anything about it. So the cops get frustrated and one does something stupid, the cop will face a consequence and the bikers face none. Sort of a microcosm of today's society, it's all about me, screw everyone else. The officer will get in trouble and rightfully so, he stooped to their level. I ride a lot, an older power cruiser, I come across these sportbike clowns occasionally, they are just a bunch of anti-social assholes. I encounter them when working sometimes, but not in the numbers they do out west. I refuse to play their game and chase them, I just wave as they fly by. I'm not going to put the public in more danger by chasing them. "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!" -
There is always another side to the story, I read the Sheriffs comments. It looks like he and Higgins had a parting of the ways. it happens. I doubt we've seen the last of Capt. Higgins, he was at the very least entertaining, at the most effective. The next Sheriff election there should be very interesting. "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"

Yep, Sacrificed at the altar of political correctness, I was afraid this was going to happen. It took guts to do what he did, but if it's between having guts and offending someone in this age, guess who wins.......... "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"

Last Week Tonight with John Oliver: Donald Trump

Ding.....ding..........we have a winner! He scares the shit out of me, those others didn't. "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!" -
I did, I've shown the numbers regarding contacts vs. complaints. I Googled "stats to satisfy police detractors in the speakers corner of dropzone.com" and it told me to check out the stats posted. Plus I said I bet, if you can find them, feel free. Every vocation has it's losers, crooks and dipshits. We had an incident in our area of widespread medicare fraud, involving several doctors and a local hospital. Does that make all doctors and hospitals suspect? These people are in a position of trust. Just because you don't like what I'm saying, doesn't mean I'm going to be quiet. And I'm the closed minded one? "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"

How about giving it try and then getting back to us? It's funny, I've posted here several times about the number of police contacts vs. the number of controversial incidents. It was called cherry picking the numbers by a pro-police source. Then I found mainstream media (surprisingly) source that looks at the numbers and sees the same thing. Then acts surprised about it, using stereotypes as the base of facts. "You know over 90% of cops never fire their guns", like it's some revelation. http://www.indystar.com/story/news/crime/2016/02/26/southern-indiana-teacher-arrested-meth-class/80987752/ All teachers are drug using assholes right? Do I have the stats of other occupations, nope I don't. They could only hope to have their reliability rates at over 99%. But to the detractors it doesn't matter, it's the same spew of the same stuff. Except currently much is based on outright lies and misinformation. There was a story done by I think ABC news around 2000, they set up cops by having people pretend to have found a lost wallet. The wallets had money in them, and were turned into officers on the street of New York. They interviewed regular people on what they thought the results would be. Most people said it would be around 50% of the wallets being turned in intact. They did it several times over several days, the actual results, 100% of the wallets turned in, with 100% of the money intact. ABC actually admitted they were surprised by the results. I've been trying to find the story, but I can't, I saw it in a class many years ago. "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"

It's estimated there are as high as 25,000 medical malpractice deaths in the U.S., how many if those are prosecuted criminally? It's interesting the usual crowd assumes things, like I think police misconduct is okay, because it happens in other professions. I acknowledged it happens, it's naive to think it doesn't. I merely say it's not nearly as prevalent as media reports claim it to be. I've provided that data. "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"

That is a fallacy as well, they don't. Are there instances? Sure there are, but doctors, lawyers, judges, etc. cover for each other as well, I bet in much greater numbers. "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"

They act as if the actual truth is a big surprise, but then again it is MSNBC. http://haywardpoa.com/news-events/hpoa-news/the-state-of-policing-in-america-reported-by-msnbc "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"
