That's why I said head on a swivel, the night before can cause impairment. I've had guys with blood alcohol levels above .10 the following afternoon, especially the professional drinker types. I had a guy on parole once, who turned himself in, was walking and talking fairly normally. He reeked of alcohol and his eyes were red, but that was about it. He blew a .34, when I tested him again he was a .35, still on his way up. I asked him why he turned himself in, he said he had just drank an entire bottle of Jack Daniels, and if he didn't go back to prison he would drink himself to death. I've smelled alcohol on loads, but just a whisp, and I couldn't tell where is was coming from (may have been me from the night before)....... I've never jumped with a guy who reeked and was impaired, nor would I. "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"

This dude is kind of a whiner. I'm a bit more in tune with detecting drug/alcohol use, I've never really had a problem. At certain DZ's the smell around camping area can be interesting, but I've never seen a truly impaired person jump. Now a hint of alcohol on the plane sure, but who knows if that was someone sweating out the night before, or an impaired jumper. If I smelled it, my head was on a swivel. If I was aware of one on a load, either they would get off the plane, or I would. If either didn't work, that would be my last jump there. Where I used to jump any drug use simply wasn't tolerated, even in the tent/camping area after hours. If the DZO found out, that person(s) was gone no matter who they were, physically removed if necessary. If he caught you drinking before the beer light was on, you were gone too, and for good reason. Just calling things as I see them, kinda like Capt. Higgins.... Disagreement is frustration? I'd say that's "enlightened" crowds forte. That is frustration? A far as the condescending dick comments, those are the ones not included in the above quote(a small segment). Sorry if that offends you, or if you are one of this group. Yea, But sometimes it's just fun, I take the high road 99% of the time. Not angry at all, some comments here just prove what some of the "educated and enlightened" segment of the population think of people who are different than them. This is the same crowd that preaches "inclusion and diversity". (look above, need I say more)............. "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"

I've never claimed to be brilliant................. Look earlier in the tread, and what the thread is about. If this is anger, perhaps you should seek a safe space. I've never claimed not to be a sarcastic smartass when the situation dictates. I never questioned the intelligence of people without formal education, or made implications about where they live. This thread is about a public service announcement that ruffled some of the feathers of those who are easily offended. Given the seriousness of the situation, this message will be an effective tool in taking care of the situation. "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"

Doer's do, That's my problem, I've been a doer my entire life, which puts me at odds with some of my family members. Most of my family have advanced degrees, I was always the crazy action guy who didn't like school. Highly educated condescending dicks do not impress or intimidate me, quite the opposite really. Highly educated people who are brilliant, humble, and REAL do impress me. I love debating with the condescending dicks at social functions. Because of what I do and their immediate judgment at my perceived lack of formal education, they think I'm stupid. When I can hang with them on political, economic, and social issues, many times they just get angry and stomp away. The ones with sense and humility engage and we have a great time. The vast majority are brilliant, with a great sense of humility. "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"

It sure does, I make well above the median income with some college no degree. I've just worked my ass off and assumed risk others didn't want or have to. My father started with nothing, I mean NOTHING, got his bachelor's, then his masters in econ. He wanted to get his PhD, but decided to go into business, did very well for himself and retired. He also was an adjunct professor for many years, he still talks about how the "real professors" talked down to him and treated him like crap. He says mainly because he made more money than they did, and he could do what they did, except better with more real world experience. My uncle is a PhD, world famous in his area of expertise, and he is not a condescending dick. My other uncle was a very successful entrepreneur, who had no college education, and he wasn't a condescending dick. Soooo...................... "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"

Exactly, It is a bit over the top, but in a likeable way. Sometimes you have to make a stand that's what he's doing, they went to great lengths to include various groups, he even gave notice to the majority of people in the county jail. Most petty criminal aren't bad people, just caught in bad circumstances. Violent hard core criminals are just that, sociopathic criminals, there is a huge difference. PIO's talk in sound bites, that's what they do. Capt. Higgins happens to be VERY good at it, which means he does his job well. Which makes him a good employee, which means tax dollars in his county are well spent. Yes, and very well, see above.................. "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"

Leadership means just that, LEADING.......... Mincing words, PC speech, is great politics, but it doesn't catch wanted violent criminals. You do realize he is not the Sheriff right? Sometimes you lead from the front........... Google Lieutenant or Captain Higgins crimestopper videos, you'll see others, they are almost as brilliant as they are effective. We used one in our area as well. The guy shot out a couple spot lights, I have a few friends who were inside the thing as bullets were pinging off the armor. It's not hyperbole, using these trucks the way they are being used now was called being resourceful, now it's a conspiracy. "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"

They do fly, see attached pics, it's not hyperbole when it's real. In the case of the pics, it was also IED's and a paramedic was shot. The use in floods was envisioned as well, it's just a 5 ton truck body with an armored capsule. The weight makes it better for swift water rescues. "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"
