but you can't do that all in one hand. and in a brown paper sack

freebird, you shouldn't feel guilty about doing what you love to do. If it completes you, then should be ok to do. would you feel guilty if it was cross stitching or something mundane like that, that made you feel really good about yourself? It sounds like you are thinking more about the reason why you shouldn't jump than the reason why you should jump. stop that. you said things you learned about yourself from skydiving spill over into other parts of your life. good for you, I'm sure your daughter notices that, and I'm sure neither of you would be the same if you 'were' to quit. don't equate the possibilites of dangers in the sport(losing a mother/daughter) with feeling guilty about being happy from skydiving. There's a bazzilion things to do to make this a safer sport. and if you feel guilty about having fun, then bring your kid to the dz and involve her. Then both of you can have fun at the same time. sbb

speaking of innovating, I was looking thru some old video tapes and found a program from the discovery channel a few years back, about history of parachutes. good show. anywho, I don't remember who, but someone was testiong a parachute that flew like a paraglider(ie could go back up)but packed like a parachute and could be opened up at terminal. sbb

no, however, I'll admit to eating a dog treat once as a kid. I think that is why I have had an uncontollable urge to take a leak on ever fire hydrant I see.

yeah, this person was a young mother who just graduated from high school and is not far from here. Its all over the news. They even pegged a local jumper to talk on camera. Thank god it was mark ferrell, who was also on the 300way last week. An excellent choice if they had to ask someone around here.

I remember my parents taking me to a santa claus jump when I was in kindergarten. That was what put the bug in my ear. During high school homecoming in south dakota they would have demo's into the football game. I never looked into until my soph. year in college back in neb. when the summer edition of the university rag had a frontpage story about it; when, where, cost etc. That was all I needed. I got scheduled asap, and the guy who wrote the story was in my fjc. never looked back since then. actually, come to find out, my grandpa used to be a jump pilot in the very plane I jump out of back in the 80's. Never could figure out who made that santa claus jump, even though I'm sure I know the name by now, that guy is from a one of the two dropzone's in this state. thanks santa. sbb
