  1. Sony makes a .6 that fits the 109 without having to use any step rings. You can get it at Best Buy or Circuity City. Good price, low profile on the camera, and it does a fantastic job. Good luck... Quincy...
  2. Yup ... sometimes very much major slow... Quincy...
  3. What kind of cameras are you considering trying to house? I have a PC-105 AND a PC-109. Both will fit in the 105 box, but only the 109 will fit in the 109 box. (The 105 is too wide.) When I ordered the 105 box, I e-mailed them and they did a custom fit to the rear access panel so you can easily work the controls for both cameras. GREAT people to work with. Excellent product. 4. Picasa by Google... Free ... Easy ... lots of other free simple features Picasa
  5. Sony's manual for the 109 says it has an internal rechargeable button-type battery that holds those settings ... but ... it does not say how to change it. It does say ... to recharge it, put it on the charger and leave it for MORE THAN 24 hours. Be sure the power switch is set to Off-Charge. Hope this helps. Quincy
  6. Can you imagine the dude he passed on the motorcycle. That guy probably wiped out trying to see/figure out what just went by.
  7. My father was in the paratroops in WWII, having jumped as part of D-Day, and several other major campaigns. He passed away three years ago. About a year after his passing, while I was teaching a FJC, I saw two elderly gentlemen come in the hanger that were very nicely dressed. They were obviously looking around the DZ and looked like they had questions. We were ready to take a break so I approached them. As we started talking, they told me they had jumped in WWII, and they were curious to see what was going on with modern jumping. They also mentioned they were on their way to a Regimental reunion in Savannah, GA. About that time, I noticed a small medallion one gentleman had around his neck. I almost couldn't speak, as I instantly recognized it, along with another insignia on the side of his cap. These two guys were in my father's regiment during WWII. What an incredible surprise. I was truly speechless. They briefly told me of various things I had heard my Dad speak of years earlier. One of them had a camera, so I have several pictures of us together. They stayed long enough to see me make a jump, so I had them sign my logbook. Those two guys' signatures are forever logged as my most cherished.
  8. To add to what Quade was saying, having it in a consistent air stream is important. I have a Pro-Dytter in my helmet and the Pro-Track on my ankle. The fluctuations now seem to make more sense with what you would expect from different elements on the jump. Quincy...
  9. Gonna be at Detroit Metro Airport for meetings that end on Friday the first weekends in both April and May. What DZ's are close by that are going to be open ... and ... anything going on? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thx... Quincy...

  12. Just goes to show ... it wasn't his time. No bushes, trees, or anything ... nothing but the roof 17 floors down. Fall estimated at 200 feet. Only a broken leg. Like the video sez... he obviously has a guardian angle. CNN Video Link Dude needs to go buy a lottery ticket.

Read about it... Bought it... Used it... Love it... Had a Cameye II. Jumping out of a Cessna, it got bumped on the door and turned off more than once on exit. Use a Bonehead Optik with a Cookie Composite box, so hitting the record on the camera is not a problem vs. the Cameye II. Really like the Hypeye...!!!... Quincy...
  16. In May I upgraded my original Sony Vaio desktop to a newer, beefier Vaio. Lightening has now zapped the motherboard. Based on Sony's website, they are only making the Vaio in very high end, as in $2,000+ models. Luckily, all video and photo files were on an external hard drive that didn't get hit. For video editing have been using Pinnacle for several years. In a Windows PC, what brand and model are you using? Looking for ideas on chip speeds, and system setups that work well. I'm not an IT professional, but, I'm very computer literate for the home user. As for Mac's, I know nothing about them, so, my learning curve would be from scratch. Have searched the forum here, and the last major thread is three years old. Thanks for the input...!!!... Quincy
  17. Norton Internet Security is all you need...!!!... This is the firewall / anti-virus version. It is extememly reliable and very easy to use. Security Suite is like dropping a battleship anchor on your system resources / speed. If you install it, the uninstall is like trying to haul in that anchor with your bare hands. Stick with the Internet Security version ONLY. You'll be very happy. I've had Norton for 10 years. Quincy...
  18. Trevor... You've gotten great advise here from some very experienced camera fliers. One thing that hasn't been offered so far is getting a camera suit. Try one and you'll be amazed at how much control it gives you ... even very close over a 4 way. As with any new piece of equipment, practice jumps are critical to learning how it flies. Practice...practice...practice. Learning how the suit flies, and what the top of the burble feels like will help keep you clear of the formation and able to get the shots you want. Hope this helps. Quincy
  19. First ... download the latest version 10.6. Have used it and it has performed very well. No crashes or other problems. On their website, Pinnacle even has approx. 14 online video tutorials on how to use some of their special editing features, tools, and techniques. Some basic, some very useful. As of 10.6, it is quite stable and good. As for a history of 10, I had 9.0 then 9.5 then ordered 10.0 in the pre-release. Initially ... a screaming dog. Get the newest updates. You'll be AMAZED at how much better it runs. It also seems 10.6 has cleaned up some of the settings panels to make them more user friendly. Bottom line, very happy with 10.6. Quincy

  23. Five years ago, had the disc between C5-6 totally blow apart. Had MINOR problems with it for years after a bad water skiing fall. In hind sight, best guess was the original problem was a bulge. When it blew, I felt it go. Thought it was gonna be the usual irratation / stiff neck for 3-5 days, but, this time, it didn't go away. After two months, totally lost all strength in my left arm. Quick MRI later and C5 - 6 are fused. Didn't have to be a radiologist to read that MRI. It was just plain ugly. Used the allograft bone because it offered less / fewer complications. Recovery was not bad at all. Out of work for less than a week. Didn't jump for six months. Hope this helps... Quincy
