  1. Thanks (: I have to admit, it's quite a close one for me to choose. I think at the end it'll depend on whichever is cheaper and whichever is more convenient. Do you know if they have any upfront 'A' license course? I messaged them on FB but still haven't got a reply. They don't seem to have an email too...
  2. Why would you say so? As someone who's done Open Water and tunnel I find almost no similarity (except for environment awareness). Though I would like to hear the experience of someone who knows both well.
  3. (: Roughly how many regulars can you expect to see in a weekend? Also, Elderslie uses a Cessna 182 right?
  4. I think it depends on federation. From the APF manual:
  5. Haha thanks I thought you found a magic way to pull a frame from a youtube URL
  6. I don't get how the Swiss system works? How bout things like jumping at the Palm, night jumps, demo jumps, coach ratings, license conversion to overseas, etc...
  7. Thanks for adding that point. Also, I did not know about the 5 jumps within 20m as I haven't looked at the proficiency card but only the online manual
  8. Thanks so much for the reply. It was really comprehensive and thorough
  9. True. Do you know if the parachute federations developed the regulations independently or they started by copying each other?
  10. But that's because each country runs (and has to run) differently from others. Can you imagine what would happen to an agricultural land like Australia if they followed the import laws of say Hong Kong. I don't see why different federations should operate differently, especially if there are traveling jumpers who need to convert licenses. I would understand if say a country has vastly different wind conditions from another but doesn't skydiving feel the same wherever you go (an experienced jumper needs to weigh in here).
  11. Sorry, I don't get what you mean (about getting a pic from youtube)?
  12. Hi guys I was reading both the APF (Australian) and USPA manuals and I've noticed that the requirements greatly differ. For example, to get a Certificate 'A' the requirement is 10 jumps, as well as an accuracy component. For A license 25 jumps are required, with no accuracy component. Another example is the Certificate 'F' (1k jumps), where a night descent is required. However, the D license requires 2 night jumps, though a D license holder only needs 500 jumps. I'm sure there will also be differences if I pull manuals from federations in Europe, Japan, South America, etc... I'm wondering why there are so much differences. Is it because of jumping conditions? Thanks for the help!
  13. Sure, thanks for the advice! I considered hitching myself too, but was unsure about safety.
  14. :( sure then, will do a more detailed search when I'm not on mobile.
  15. (: Haha problem is that it's kinda far and unless there's public transport it's not possible. :(
  16. Thanks a lot mate! I see this is your first post in a while, so I really really appreciate the help
  17. I wish you all the best! Hope that everything turns out not good but GREAT Prove the naysayers wrong!
  18. Hey guys Anyone has info on jumping near Newcastle? I need a DZ and/or friends. If you're from the area, just say hi!
  19. Not sure :( I'm pretty sure if a DZ offers an APF A license course they'll let AFP A license holders jump (assuming they're current etc...)
  20. Wait, you've rented for 76 jumps and you've only flown 1 rig...
  21. Erm... An A license is issued by the APF. Why would you have an issue jumping solo at other dropzones... lol Other dropzones are independent, but obviously if they issue an APF A license they recognize it.
  22. This is all tunnel experience: I actually know people who do RW in a FF suit. Not like the competitive super serious kind, but it's still possible, it's just harder for others to grip but life goes on. Just something to think about...
  23. From what I understand, Birds and Thai Sky Adv are the only 2 dropzones in Thailand. I know money can buy anything, but to expect to bribe your way to airspace... I'm sure you need good and powerful 'friends'. edit: you might want to try basejumper, they should have beter contacts
