I was zipping my 2nd arm which is why I immediately asked LouD what the hell he did... he was in the right seat and I thought he bumped something. I'm usually up between 8 and 9 putting on my helmet, checking handles, and zipping up. My legs are zipped before the planes takes off. Good point, John. In this instance, me and LouDiamond were in the front taking guidance from the pilot and shouting it to the back. He did instruct us to open the door but it was still a bit confusing for the people in the back. She was pretty scared on the whole ride up. The instructors had her poise and try to go through the exit process even though it was accelerated. The aircraft had lost juice but it was fairly stable. Katie Get your PMS glass necklace here

Have to add to what Bryan said. Know your emergency procedures. There was a little bit of WTF going on and I think we could have done a little better at reacting more quickly. Unfortunately, with AFF students aboard, it was difficult to react more efficiently. With that said, I looked to see if the SIM had much to say about it but I think I'd find more in the FAR. SIM said that the spotter/jumpmaster on board should have acted as a focal point by watching the front of the plane, taking directions from the pilot, and paying attention to the green light (in this case it was an otter using GPS for spotting). Basically, we reacted quickly because once we felt the engine sputter, we opened the door, got the general direction of the airport from the pilot (behind us), and proceeded to exit. There was at least a minute delay and if conditions had been worse this could have impacted us more than it did. I was probably more nervous because I was in the front of the aircraft and saw the alarms and watched the pilot's reaction. I was also in a wingsuit so I was worried about having a poor exit. The recommended guidelines are 500 jumps where they can give you the ground training and you can go up solo; or, 200 very current skydives (this is the category I fall into) with ground training and coached jumps. I've made 8 wingsuit jumps (4 on my own suit) and every jump has been a coached jump.

I'm in good shape myself being an Army girl but flying works a completely different set of muscles. LouDiamond on the other hand got right back up and made more today so I'm sure with regularlity it will get easier. For the sake of my body let's hope so! By the way, nice web page!

I too finally placed my order for the FF2 but decided against the cutaway. If I mount a camera (very far in the future) I will definitely get the cutaway. Right now, I'm just tinkering with video.

One word: GATORZ I have 2 pair and love them to skydive in. Find a dealer in your area and try them on. I have the Batrayz and the Ice. The Ice cover a bit more of my eyes - therefore - less eye water. Those two models also have smaller frames on the side and I think they look a bit more feminine. Other popular styles for skydiving are the Radiators and Converters.

As for BM jumps, I'm right where you are, Steve. Right now, I'm trying to work on maintaining a straight flight (even when my head is turned to check my alti, check for fellow jumpers, or to look where I'm going), knowing the flight plan even when I'm solo (for example, how high/how far from the dz, when to turn back, when to really open high), and changing altitudes (ie. diving down a bit and then popping back up). I've had issues slowing down when I try to drop down because I'm bending my legs instead of driving down at an angle. Because you have many more jumps, you're probably already much more comfortable in the suit so you may have already worked on this stuff. I'm taking the slow road to wingsuit progression!
