  1. Inconveniences can be pretty fun, as long as they don't result in a cutaway or injury...then they just suck. Somewhere between jump 10 and 20 I had a pretty inconvenient situation. Somehow I didn't stow the toggles correctly so they both came loose on opening and tied themselves around my wrist and pinned my wrist to the right riser. By the time I realised what the heck was happening, I was in a hard right turn, not quite diving, but pretty close. I ended up pulling down on the left steering line with my free hand to level the canopy out. I held the line with my teeth while I untied the knot that was keeping my wrist pinned to the riser. I'm pretty fortunate that I didn't cutaway from that (with the SOS system), 'cause I'm pretty confident it would have ended up in a main/reserve entanglement. I ended up leaving a nice black "stain" from where the steering line had synched down on my black jumpsuit.
  2. I agree, the fact that people are getting too lazy in BASE to pack their own rig scares the hell outta me. Now, I wouldn't see as much of a problem if the person that was packing my rig was someone I knew WELL and trusted, and if he knew my gear. But if I ever get into BASE, I WILL NEVER let someone that doesn't know me or my gear pack for me. Too scary
  3. Zeemax!! Where's my cat!!!!
  4. You should add: CYPRES: An electronic automatic activation device that is intended to deploy a reserve parachute in the event that no parachute is opened at a preset altitude while falling at a preset speed. Cypress: Whaaa?
  5. A skydiving rig by comparison is quite a simple piece of equipment. It does not take as much effort to understand how the pieces fit. A responsible skydiver or BASE jumper will take the time and make the effort to learn all they can about their gear. Not ALL gear, just theirs. Learn it and understand it. In BASE it's not really possible to have packers, I wouldn't think anyway. How is a packer to know your specific canopies opening charactoristics. As a responsible BASE jumper you should know exactly how your canopy reacts to different packing techniques, and how opening time, and opening force are affected. I don't BASE (yet) and I only have 45 skydives, but if my logic is faulty I will be extremely surprised.

  7. We weren't taught the specifics in my FJC, we were taught what we needed to know to save ourselves. Everything was kept pretty basic, there reason being that there is so much information and a person can only retain so much. After hanging out at the DZ some more, and asking a few questions I was shown exactly how pulling the cutaway handle releases the white loop which releases the 3-rings etc etc
  8. It all depends. On average I would say 2 a day. But on non-productive days like this one when I have absolutely nothing to do, and hotties keep posting themselves on the forums...well...my sig tells all

  14. I can't help you with the rig info, but I just wanted to say that I'm very happy for you, and that you're able to persue your dream. I hope you make it a lifestyle and continue to drop weight, it sounds like you've done well so far. It's not as extreme as your case, but a month ago I was 273, now I'm 245 and dropping. Skydiving...hehe and skychicks are my motivation. Keep working at it bud, and enjoy the benifits
  15. OMG Dove, I'm sorry! I went through most of the pages and wanted to be sure I got all of the chicks, cause I haven't seen ANY "Butt Ugly" chicks, you're all hotties!
  16. HH no longer allows animated avatars as people were taking advantage of them. The very few that still have them, as I understand it, have an agreement with HH .
  17. That's awesome that you were able to lose the weight. I'm in that situation now. About 5 weeks ago I nearly ^%$ myself when I saw I was 275. I'm down to 245 now and falling. Some of us DO need to lose weight, and it's nice to hear of the stories about others reaching their goals. I think it's terrible though, that a good number of women think that they need to drop more weight. From what I've heard, most men like some meat on chicks. I like physically fit women, not skinny ones. Ok, I like the skinny ones too, I just wish that they weren't so skinny if you have any idea what I'm sayin...cause I think I'm rambling...ok I'm done now.
