Jan 8th is the start of the Canadian/Alaskan Invasion at Eloy, head over to the alternate landing area and check it out!

Jet stream sucking moisture over top of us + arctic high = snow, doesn't look too great on the atlantic coast either.

He said he is looking for a general all purpose canopy, doesn't suggest that he is in to swooping. Maybe he can clarify. I would have some concern if he regularily jumped at or near sea level, then moved to a DZ with a much higher elevation.
-
From your profile I see you do wingsuit, there has been a recent thread on a malfunction /cut away with a stiletto, I dont think the wing loading will be too much of a factor, I load mine close to 1.4, flies fine, lands fine. Depends on what you prefer, Spectres have snivelly openings, have a steeper glide than a Sabre, but adding some breaks gets you back from long spots.
-
If you take the max wingload on each of the Spectre sizes it is 1.6, with the "expert" at 1.3. Andrew

Jumped it Christmas Day, 2000 Eloy was closed till 12pm, There was a partial solar eclipse at about 10am we were in freefall. I remember it was fairly windy, Andy video'd our jump and was still getting huge swoops on his 59sqft canopy. Andrew

Like the t-shirt says " my sport ate your sport for breakfast" -
Alan hows it going? Getting to be a while since we did those jumps in that "wonderful" Scottish weather. To Pubwoof why would you want to underload an elliptical that's like buying a ferrari and just using it to drive to the grocery store. Andrew
-
PD canopies should have the DOM and serial # on the label. a good rigger should be able to tell you the condition of the canopy and lines. Andrew
-
Is your profile up to date? just over 100 jumps and you want an elliptical? even 100 jumps more is not enough to fully learn the canopy you are flying at the moment. have you jumped at different DZ's with different elevations? downhill ? crosswind? Do a search on Bill Von to get his canopy skill requirements. Are you using all the inputs(toggle, riser, body) to fly? Higher performance is much more a function of the PILOT than the canopy. PD recommends min 500 jumps before getting a Stiletto. At 100 jumps you look back and say " look how much I've learned" at 500 jumps you look ahead and say " look how much more I have to learn" have fun Andrew

He usually takes 8, when I jumped there were only 10 wanted to go so he squeezed us all in on one load. Andrew -

IPC is changing over from odd numbered years to even so there will be a world championship two yrs in a row. There is a long explanation in todays tidbits on Omniskore's Nationals coverage www.omniskore.com/comp/2003/nats/2003_nats.htm Andrew

Start by finding a reliable rigger, someore you can trust. They often hear of good deals locally, you will need your gear checked and repacked once you get it. Also if you are dealing for gear riggers act as intermediary, holding gear till paid for, making sure the gear is as stated etc. Right here in classifieds is a good place to look. Ask your instructors what would be appropriate. Andrew

Would have been even closer if Airspeed had not had the J in round 5. Bring on the 8 way Andrew

Imagine your body as a propeller, when doing shoulder turns you dip the shoulder in the direction you want to turn. When doing knee turns, the legs become the other side of the propeller. You would dip the opposite leg. Trying to dip a knee often results in dearching so instead of dipping the opposite leg, raise the leg on the side you want to turn. To practice, lay on a creeper, pillow etc. To turn right raise your right knee, opposite for other way. Remember to counter to stop the turn. If you combine the shoulder and knee turns you have a centre turn. Andrew
