  1. going to AZ for the invasion would give you the jump start you are looking for. you would have a concentrated training period, which generally means faster learning. You would be jumping out of otters/skyvan rather than 182/206 much more comfortable you get extra altitude 13500' those extra seconds per jump generally mean more learned per jump. you get to meet a lot of jumpers from all over Canada and Alaska
  2. Is that true? I thought it was a little guillotine that cut your reserve closing loop. If there were an explosive charge you wouldn't be able to take it on a commercial flight. The reserve is spring loaded, is that what you meant? From the cypres manual there is a diagram showing "propellant" behind the piston that cuts the loop. " the cutter assembly is completely self contained. in the event of activation there is nothing released. It was specially developed for CYPRES and is classified as being non-hazardous"

  4. missing a practice pull is not uncommon. Chill Practice the count that your instructors have given you. muscle memory is important. If they have some sort of training aid, borrow it and practice practice practice. Remember the whole point of this sport is .... to have FUN

    flocking

Last lear at the Eloy Holiday boogie, a certain BMI had me as base on a 10way flock on my third birdman jump, in a classic II, most everyone was in, later BillVon lead a 15way flock everyone was in. The 15 way was from the newer Skyvan which had no benches, all that nylon on a slippery floor!!!!. Have Fun Andrew
  9. got your money's worth on that one two landings for the price of one
  10. Generally if you look straight down you will flare high if you look at the far horizon you will generally flare low look out at about 45 degrees, periferal vision gives better depth perception so a quick glance off to the side may help. also if you can find something about 12' high to stand on and get a sight picture that will help. Mostly the best thing to do is jump a lot, nothing is better than experience. Andrew
  11. 4 years ago we jumped a Fokker cargo plane from 18000' at the Kamloops boogie plane was pressurized , then slowly depressurized before our jump, had cypres and protrack both worked fine. Andrew

  20. All five of my birdman jumps have been with a Spectre 150 loaded at just under 1.4 on the first jump I forgot to close my leg wing, and it still opened on heading,"loudiamond" was my BMI I've even opened in a full track to see if it would slam me and it opened soft as usual.( Voodoo harness) Got over 550 jumps on spectre 170/150, only had one hard opening, probably packing error. andrew

  23. [reply CSPA insurance probably doesn't cover you in the US. CSPA third party insurance is good at any CSPA DZ in Canada and worldwide as long as jumps are made according to CSPA rules.
