    This is the other side of the UEropean Govenrment's assistance to airbus - GOvernment meddling and forced inefficiency. The A-380 "could" be a perfectly good plane... But in return for government assistance, Airbus has to make the wings in Britain, the Fuselage in France, and the tail in Germany! There's been programmes on Discovery & the like on how they've overcome the problems of getting the bits together - the tail *NEEDS* a special plane to transport it to France while the wings *need* a special semi-submersible barge to get them out of the factory! If they built the whole frickin' plane in the one place (like Boeing does in Seattle), then the A-380 would be flying and selling by now with the company in solid profit. Ahhh...     It's possibly quite widespread among folk who call themselves Napoleon and rule over their padded cell (or should do so)! Speaking personally, my attitude (which my *unpaid* Family Doctor wholeheartedly supports has always been: "I'm going to "X", might go to "Y" and it's quite close to "Z". Stab me and script me!" Because of this, I *think* that I'm bang up to date with every conceivable vaccination (including most of the esoteric ones). Even a $100 "shot" is a damn sight cheaper than intensive care or an air-ambulance. Incidentally, if you're travelling, isn't getting all the relevant vaccinations a condition of insurance?     Taking your second point first, this vaccine has also been passed across Europe, so there's no shortage of evidence on its safety. Your other point was something I queried in the previous thread; The COST of the Texas Vaccine. The British NHS has costed the vaccine at £65 a course/person. Call it $120. Yet... Texas costs the vaccine at $360 a course/person! I never really got a satisfactory answer about the 3X price-hike beyond my own vague thought that it may be that Texas has cited the TOTAL cost of the vaccine, including doctor, nurse, pharmacy time, while the Euros have only costed the vaccine itself since the Doctor, Nurse, etc...     It's a frickin' vaccine that'll prevent a disease! Nothing more. Girls are routinely vaccinated against Rubella. As far as I know having the vaccination doesn't make them want to get pregnant by a Spotty German!.. Does it!!? That in effect is the Morality-Police's argument against this vaccine. Mike.     Unfortunately we can't get The Doctor on my local cable. I watched the very first (William Hartnell) episode back in '63. I wasn't all that much of a fan of The Doctor.... Until The 9th and 10th Doctor, Christopher Ecclestone & David Tennant (and of course the frankly irreplaceable Billie Piper). FINALLY the Fx and production values do justice to the exceptionally sharp scripts! If Y'All get chance to see them (I think they're being shown in Canada), then Take it! Unfortunately, I suspect that they'll be very marginal in America. Some of the episodes feature a heroic American Homer-Sex-You-All in a major role.     That kind of fits in with my own thinking on this. The greatest source of danger to Harry and his troops would seem to have arisen out of the media frenzy about his going. Had he just gone without any publicity, then he would have just been another junior officer. Thanks to statements in Parliament and all the reporting, it's like we're saying "Look what we're exposing" In Chess terms (appropriate for the region), it's like advancing your King to the middle of the board.     Vladimir Ilych Ulyanov is an excellent case in point. While I admire him (in comparison to the regime he overthrew), He's really just another person who took the letter of teachings rather than the concept, and in aplying the letter, lost the concept (In fairness, having a paranoid psychopath as a successor didn't help). Is Ulyanov (or more to the point; Joseph Vissarionovich Dzhugashvili) really so very different from some of the religious extremists of either Christianity of Islam? My own belief is that the REAL war has always been between extremism and moderation... Unfortuantely, the extremists tend to be heard more because they are louder. Mike. He served with The Durham Light Infantry from 1934 to 1940 (Arras, on the retreat to Dunkirk). Anyway. His Campaign / Service medals were for The NorthWest Frontier (Afghanistan), Palestine (Israel), and Iraq! Strange really... Some things never change, do they? Mike.     It's not what "The Strategy Page" reports, it's how it reports it and the *Conclusions* it jumps to! US forces in Iraq have found rifles of Austrian design. These MAY have been part of a consignment legitimately supplied to Irans Government for police purposes. THEREFORE... "Austria Supports Terrorists!.. Everyone Boycott Austria!" I'm not sure if such amazing leaps contribute toward Global Warming... But I'm pretty sure they DO contribute to Global Dimming. Still...     ... While looking over recent threads. !. Iraq is going down the $hithole withall these insurgents armed with assault weapons and big sniper rifles. 2. The Bush administration is being criticised for selecting advisors to the Iraqi Government based solely on the fact they were good Republican Party Members. 3. Democratic Politicians are campaigning for bans on "Assault Weapons & Large Bore Rifles". 4. More resources are badly needed in Afghanistan to bring peace there. Wouldn't the solution to all this be to pull all the Republican Advisors out of Iraq & replace them with Democrats, who'd then be able to force an Assault-Weapons Ban through the Iraqi Government thus bringing PEACE to both Iraq and the NRA? Then... We could move all our troops out of Iraq to reinforce the troops in Afghanistan... Taking the most direct land route in the interests of fuel economy and environmental protection, of course.
