a couple things - can these guys be pro-nuclear, without having to be anti-something? I doubt it. All energy sources should be encouraged now we have taxpayer money subsidizing nuclear power. I wonder what strings will be attached to the 'loans'? maybe price controls, non-substantive legislation on operation and construction, free energy for some, etc etc etc will they also work to pull roadblocks from nuclear plant construction to allow any possibility of private sector development? or will this be the 1st hurdle to gov controlled energy? Lots of roadblocks have started as reasonable requirements and then were escalated to ridiculous by the wratchet-it a little more crowd (who's mission was to make it impossible eventually) banks, manufacturing, energy, healthcare - that should do the job nicely (mostly tongue in cheek here - the article notes "loans".... so the gov is really only collecting IOUs from energy) A good base on nuke power is a great thing for the country if done right - supplied by private industry, and not choked off by special interest groups through interfering legislation ... hopefully, he doesn't give a crap - just like people that choose to raise their kids different from jclalor don't give a crap about his opinions on the matter only when his ilk, or the other ilk start to interfere in the lives of others with their subjective opinions on the subject should we care calling raising a kid with or without religious beliefs "child abuse" is totally nuts - just making it clear that they have no clue what the term really means - but hijacking the term would go fine with our history of diluting the meaning of strong words ... so now we are getting somewhere US doesn't enforce existing gun laws, but you want more laws put in place even? How about we try this? You go make sure existing laws are enforced against criminals using guns for bad things. Let's see how this goes before implementing more 'feel good' legislation against decent property owners. ... of course, if you took air or water, or even sand, and pushed it through a pipe (or a vertical wind tunnel) and then perturbed the flow significantly just prior to a choke point - it would also have shock effects back upstream i'm just sayin' ... England: TV Star Warned Over Waving Knife At Intruders

I have to assume that you didn't read the string leading up to that comment (context is an attacker that's been out of circulation for years, do you go after him or not) - else you are actually making the point for the other guy. [there is no "statute" of limitations in my book] - sound extremely vigilante-like to me justice is determined and administrated by society, not individuals individuals are responsible for self defense (them and theirs, and that's not justice, it's something else) though, that is the balance we are discussing - both on a general level, and also on an individual level relative to each person's ability to protect themselves.. someone is in the process of threatening and acting against your family? - shoot them - no problem someone makes the threat and you have strong reason to think they'll followup on it - seek them out and confirm your suspicions - no problem. Kill them, all their friends, torture their family - problem. Notify the cops and let them deal with it - no problem. Make yourself ready in the event they act on the threat - no problem someone looks at you funny, looks unsavory and moves into the neighborhood - take them out 'just in case' - vigilante someone attacked you 10 years ago and just got out of jail and they don't have anything to do with you - seek them out and kill them - vigilante (is this really your "statue" of limitations argument????) ... Lots of people are employed administring welfare programs, administring foodstamp programs, medicaid, lots of people employed by Non-profit organizations helping the poor. There are a lot of jobs generated by poor people. I hope this wasn't mean to be taken seriously. nonsense - it's a tribute to the "never give up, never think things through" philosophy that we should all adopt ... don't be silly - let's use a little government health care math.... we have a country of 300 MILLION people - that's an UNBELIEVABLE number of tax payers now, let's assume the government eventually employs every single citizen they'll all be union, they'll all get good salaries because they are union..... if the government taxes even 50% of the income of all those people, that's an AMAZING amount of income surely THAT MUCH money is plenty to run the government and pay those salaries..... ... neat - our president thinks of taxes in religious terms ~~ the word agnostic used in this context means indifferent or, I will consider it. and my context is that when a politician raises taxes it likely puts them in a religious fervor and therefore, on the subject, they use religious terminology comfortably - it is their religion ... macro vs micro discussion here - we aren't in disagreement, just our focus of discussion - you are very correct in the local area, but your points just reinforce my statements about the overall carrying capacity of the system and about individuals' actions In the end, let people in, don't get bothered by the jerks and you get to your exit a little late and a lot happier, or be the jerk and get there a little early and you hate the drive every day - on average, not much dif that's a shame, you'll have to tell all the civil engineers how to do it correctly have a good weekend ... Absolutely, when I try and merge and the car beside me speeds up when I do and slows down when I do, that doesn't effect the flow of traffic at all....... it really doesn't, it just pisses you off for a couple seconds and also that other guy gets irritated for the same couple seconds - unless either of you is a self righteous freak and causes an accident due to road tantrum ... Driving is a one dimensional activity - a monkey can do it - being proud of your driving abilities is like being proud of being able to put on pants

it's not a perfect world thing, it's real life road carrying capacity as defined by the downstream choke point (defines the flow cross section) and car spacing (mass density) everything all you guys are grumping about are local transient events which only impact the total traffic throughput if the bad drivers (and their Cheerios) cause accidents (which then pulls the choke point to the merge area) but, if the road converges down to less lanes, or an accident chokes the road, or etc..., then feeding that point defines the throughput upstream of that point, not various and random actions upstream at the merge areas - those areas are only of interest to individuals and their personal quirks and irritations i.e., if you merge right away, if you merge at the end, if you zipper, if you budge, if that trucker blocks 75% of the merge lane - make zero difference. Other than these actions are discourteous and bother people. we aren't REALLY talking about 'efficient' traffic throughput, we are talking about having a less irritating drive experience ... not really - only for the brief moment as all the merge moves to the new steady state point - then the mass flow would return to the previous state the only real benefit to overall flow might be if there is a 'standard' merge process (zipper or whatever) that would reduce accidents due to more predictable behavior noticed between operators.... ...
