  2. for this to be true, you need to assume: 1 - Quade stereotypes a bunch of posters into a narrowly defined group 2 - This group of people relate to this guy Beck in a political sense to the extreme point that he's considered to be "their guy" 3 - this group would just knee jerk respond and not do any homework that would take a very close minded approach as pertaining to treating people as individuals with their own opinions and rather assumes all people are just mindless followers of left or right wing crapulosicity. I think better of Quade, he doesn't bucket people like that, it would be a bit petty. I think there's only about 4 posters here that even remotely does that and they are obvious and unapologetic about their bias and bigotry. ... Hunting

Good post. Hunting is harvesting, not recreation, if one is really pure about it. But, then again, some people find going to a restaurant or a grocery store to be 'fun'. ... 6. The point that the citizen had to have a vested stake in the country does make sense. But in today's realm that doesn't now mean real estate ownership, maybe it might just be if you are a taxpayer, then suddenly how that money is spent suddenly becomes important in a less selfish way. ... 7. If I have a "far spot", it's usually on a windy day and I just ride back on the tail wind like any other jump.... If this is about a "long (oops) spot" then it's an old topic, but on a normal day and I'm trying to flatten my angle back with tail wind...... Stiletto 120 Seems for me playing with my brakes works better than risers I also collapse the slider (less drag), loosen my chest strap (more efficient airfoil) and get narrow/small in my body (reduce drag). Dave's right, if you're out farther than expected, best is to open at an appropriate altitude for conditions if you notice that. ... Since I can't read his mind from here (yet), nor can I read the minds of all the current living SEALs. I can't really comment. Maybe it was an inheritance from a brother or father that died defending the country and it's his way of honoring that person. Maybe he's a wannabe hoping it'll impress chicks. or something in between. But I suspect it's not the business of anyone other than this one guy and any SEAL out there. ... 13. A book about "freestyle skydiving"? or just a "freestyle" book - like a blank book with a box of crayons - freely write or draw whatever you like - or would the coloring book work for both purposes (interpret freestyle skydiving as open ended art with no constraints = blank book - I'm very zen today) And she's even more than just "promising" - wow, didja see the tunnel pics? you teach good ... 15. Absolutely wrong here. Sabre2 has a much longer recovery arc than a Stiletto. You can build up more speed in a slow front riser turn with the Sabre2 (assuming stock trim). The Stiletto is more *responsive* in pretty much every parameter, though. +1 If you modify his post to - "Sabre2 - partial elliptical, was designed for novices and intermediate jumpers whereas the Stiletto was designed for Expert canopy flyers" - you get closer to the truth - especially where he notes "flyers", not 'swoopers' Stiletto is a more 'advanced skills' canopy than the Sabre2, but 'advanced skills' doesn't equal only swooping. That's a narrow view of performance. Canopies don't just land, they also fly. It seems about only half the people here are acknowledging that point. Also, the demands of professional swoopers has changed over the years - so has the design criteria of canopies that cater to these people. I think the design space for high perf swooping has a very limited overlap with high performance aerodynamics and general usage. A race car that's designed to be used on most roads and longer races circuits certainly is built a LOT different than one designed solely for the quarter mile sprint. But neither one you'd let a novice drive without lessons and experience. ... 17. love home improvement projects - each one is a great excuse to buy another cool tool the big difference - pros have the right tools (and other stuff) - and they get to do things more than just the one time (experience). experience - But the one time is fun tools - do it yourselfers always try to get it to work with what they have - would you rather try to make a straight cut with a good table saw and clean guides, or a worn out hand saw balancing the board on your trashcan? that reminds me - need to buy new trashcans ... Did you not say you "realistically" can't cut these three areas? I believe we can. and should. all three. we crack one, and then none of them are sacred cows any more. 21. Buffet and Gates are clearly not commendable - they are selfish assholes using this money as they see fit rather than just handing it over. As for the Blue part - Buffet should NOT get to choose which programs the money goes to if he hands it over like a good little drone. He has to give it to the government - no strings attached - for the congress to use as they see fit. If not, he's a hypocrit - how dare he puts it in a fund of HIS CHOICE instead of just handing it over to the government for whatever use they see fit. His true actions make him a horrible liberal - but an effective conservative at this point. and a genuine hypocrit for acting like one but trying sound like he's the other. ... 22. I don't get your "but" statement here. You agree they shouldn't spend time on pointless legislation, but wish they wouldn't decide to take that position? They have to CHOOSE to not do it anymore, or every congressman hoping to pander some flaky PC group will issue proposals for "National (Gay, Black, Student, Anglo, Working Mom, Tree, Green, Short, Tall, White, Daughter, Aunt, Dog, etc etc etc ad nauseum) Day". These are perfect for congress-idiots to propose, because when their opponent says they are wasting our time, the proposer can counter that the opponent is INSENSITIVE to the plight of the (fill in the blank). Best to set a resolution to not do it at all rather than wait for the NEXT one to come up. Fight the concept as a whole, not the individual battles. Now, if they can start ignoring funding proposals for random research, idiotic arts, etc, and do targetted cutting of spending in the military and social structure..... more: remember the Simpson's when Bart ran for school council? Hot or Not!

some are hot looking, some aren't - depends on the whole package, not just great abs but all are hot for appreciating fitness though - that said the ones that REALLY stand out for me have a bit of curve around that flat stomach - not all women have the genetics to make both happen and skinny definitely does NOT equal fit - these women are fit ... 24. Lots of stuff now 1 - 700 jumps isn't an old dog for mantis. 2 - Absolutely no mantis in FJC it's not stable (the exception is they are already experienced with it in the tunnel - then a retrain to boxman is likely more confusing than not - let them fly what they are already stable in - but I need to see it, I won't take their word without a reference, video, or direct observation) 3 - pops - I've seen that tunnel learning in camps before like your funny story - love it - one of the most fun students I've ever seen was one of my heros in the sport - thousands of jumps, Master Rigger, AFF Evaluator, tandem master, pilot, etc etc. super nice guy - he was just bouncing off the walls and having a real hard time - smiling the whole time and talkiing about how great it was to learn something new (most old timers bitch about the tunnel not being 'realistic' rather than realizing that the control is just something they never had before and their egos are hurt - this guy is a truly great skydiver in practice and approach - his character is why he's a role model for me, however, this camp and his attitude is another big reason) 4 - I have no issue with your progression if the student is a slower learner or still a bit tight in the air. But, Mantis goes with booties like ice cream on pie. you can teach them separate, but not really any point to that for a typical learner - if they are comfy in boxman, they'll be safe as they have that to fall back on if they wobble too much. Skydiving for jumpers with less than, say, 500 jumps, isn't really about the booties, or the different body positions, etc - it's mostly about comfort, relaxation, and awareness - they'll learn if they stay on those things. If they aren't, you can start taking away variables until they are. IMH(but opinionated)O ... 25. same here with pre-AFF tunnel prep - I'll teach mantis immediately and these students tend to ace the AFF course better than any other students - so far, zero repeated dives on about a half dozen students in this category - two of them clearly able to graduate early (freefall portion) if they'd have chosen to take that option. FWIW Edit: now just wait for someone to falsely accuse us of having a position to train AFF L1 with mantis (ignoring the whole tunnel camp thing). This place is getting like speaker's corner ...
