  1. I must agree with this statement. I'm taking an archeology course this semester and the prof took a week talking about the many ancestors to modern day humans. It did seem like we were ape-like, then over time, we changed into what we are today.
  2. There's a town in southeast Texas called Cut & Shoot. Drove through it once, nice little town...
  3. The US was a minor and latecoming player in WWI. The US troops, while fighting gallantly, were not involved in the decisive battles of 1918. Also, the general consensus among historians is that once Hitler invaded Russia in June 1941 he had sealed the fate of the 3rd Reich. The US did not come to the aid of the French in December 1941, it was Hitler that declared war on the US in 1941.Quote I am most definitely not a history buff, but I always thought with the US coming into the war it forced Germany to fight a 2 front war, which it could not. Had the US not entered the fray, Germany could have used most of its forced in the eastern front, thus possibly changing the outcome in the east. Again, not a history buff, anyone care to take this one on??
  4. Humm, it's ringing some bells, just can't quite place it. Never thought of myself as a geek though...
  5. Hmm... I think we are already there. How do you think a child from Congo compares to Bill Gates. What's the difference? After some thought on that one, I guess I would have to say there isn't a difference. But I'm saying there may be genetic advantages in the future for people that can afford it. If we have Person A and Person B living in the same society, and Person A is genetically altered, Person A will have the advantage over Person B. Let me add a bit to this. I am thinking along the lines of the movie Gattaca Ha, not the best movie in the world, but it demonstrates my point. You have a society of have and have nots. The have's more or less control everything. Guess thats a bit like it is today, those with the $ control it, those without, don't.
  6. well dave, i can probably fix that. I'll just forward all 3,232,432,322,445,435,432 porn emails i get a day to your dz account
  7. Well, I have no problem with the theory of evolution. I don't have much faith in religious teachings, and evolution sounds plausible, since it seems to have been happening since life began on earth. As for the future of human beings, humm. I think cloning will happen, legal or illegal. I don't see any real reason to clone a whole person, but eventually, it will lead to cloning of body parts, eliminating the need for organ transplants as we know it today. Your heart starts to go bad, we can "build" your heart again, and transplant it. I guess stem cells could do the same thing. Bad side effect of cloning however, is we will be able to alter one's DNA eventually. We could make someone exactly as the parents would want by altering the DNA. This could go bad quickly if we started "making" people with for example, greater strength, intelligence, etc. Could lead to a society of the have's, and have not's. Granted it's a worse case scerio, but it's possble. Good points though, genetic diseases could be eliminated before the child is even born.
  8. During the FJC, the instructor said the easiest way to deal with a malfunction is to prevent in the first place. Unfortunately, I don't remember his exact words, but that was the message he was trying to convey.
  9. Thats what happened to me. My ears were alwasy screwed after the jump, but time cleared them. Conntinued jumping seems to help "condition" the ears to the pressure change.

    Apostrophes

Don't forget about the to, too and two.
  11. Raider 220. Still jumping it. I really got to switch to the ZP canopy.
  12. Keep mine pretty tight now. But I used to keep it a bit loose to ensure I could arch with no problem. Makes me feel better having the chest strap really tight. Don't know, my rig just feels more secure.
  13. Yes, the exit is awesome. But I'm here for the freefall.
  14. Hi snakes and welcome!!! I haven't had any surgeries on my ears either, but the pressure problems bothered me also. As a student I only got 1 maybe 2 jumps a month and I had that same full feeling (cotton ball in ears feeling). It seemed to last for a week or 2. For me, jumping more often fixed that problem. Still however, after most jumps I get back on the ground and feel that same full feeling in the ears, but after a few hours it is gone and everything is normal. If you had no serious problems with your first jump, I can't imagine any problems developing later. Seems like you might just be more sensitive to the pressure changes than others. I used to wear earplugs and the foam squishy kind seemed to work fine.

    Saddam dead?

Yep, I bet thats just the first wave. Heard parts of the Republican Gaurd already want to surrender. Aren't these the folks who swore allegiance to saddam? If these guys are giving up already, this will be a short turkeyshoot.

    Saddam dead?

I hope it is no offensive to anyone, but I hope that is true. Getting the leader the first day?? Maybe then the war won't take a long time like people are saying.

  22. Did my first jump at 18 with AFF, but with no $ I couldn't continue. I picked it up again at 22.
  23. Congrats!! Those first couple solo jumps are definitely special. You can just fall and look at the absolutely gorgeous view with no one near you. Just wait, as snowbird said, it just gets better and better.
