  1. Looks like the no-fly zone did it's job then - keep the news choppers away from low altitude long enough to clean up some of the worst = no more super newsworthy shots = less coverage. While I'm not trying to seem paranoid here, it would absolutely be in big oil's best interests here to squash this dead as fast as humanly possible so Joe Public doesn't actually start thinking about Keystone XL again... Tattoos?

Not bad at all, I was almost about to mention that I (not specific to you) was a bit bored of tribal work, until I saw the integration of the 3 rings - subtle, works well. Be keen to see the finished product....
  3. Good. Now improve sex-ed and access to contraceptives so this is an emergency option only. You are playing chicken with a planet - you can't dodge and planets don't blink. Act accordingly.
  4. Sure, why not? Fucker is light enough it would be easy to get him up on the cross There is a bit of a difference between a 1.3 loading and a 2.0 loading. I'm 55kg soaking wet - after ledballoon bounces I should be good to snap his rig up once I've got my A certificate, yeah? 5. *whoooooosh* ETA: It's late and I've had a few (I am an aussie after all) so I may have been ambiguous in my last post. I'll give you the benefit of the doubt. Go back and re-read it, think about the publicly cried pros/cons of the two mentioned cultures, and if you still don't get it let me know, I'll try again in the morning. 6. It's friday night here... I probably would've picked up on the joke otherwise... You are playing chicken with a planet - you can't dodge and planets don't blink. Act accordingly.

  8. I'm going to expand on my more flippant reply. For those who keep harping on about freedom of expression and this is america land of the free, and how about if someone tried doing the equivalent of this in the middle east they'd be in so much trouble.... that's the whole fucking point! FFS!! You live in a land that, for this example at least, means being a deliberately offensive wanker results in being asked to be less of an offensive wanker. Not whipped, not imprisoned, not beheaded. Talked. To. Politely. In the interest of capitalism, the unofficial national religion. Where's the problem again? 9. Thank you for your service. I don't agree with the action there, from your services or ours, but I respect your will to serve. Also - and this is the relevant part to the thread - thanks for not being a dick. Apparently it's a struggle for some... 10. Pfft. We'll give you credit for developing the beta version. You may thank us now for refining it into something usable. "Usable"??? Have you ever looked at English spelling??? Well, some people have no problem with it. In the US they're called "Democrats". woo hoo As much as I like you, you might want to swapping your 'z's out for an 's' most of the time, and throwing some u's back into, oh I don't know, 'colour' as a starter... I'll forgive aluminium-vs-aluminum, apparently that falls back to an argument between who discovered it first and has naming rights, as opposed to being too lazy to pronounce an extra syllable. 11. Bullshit. This was pure and simple greed to appease big spenders. God Bless America. You are playing chicken with a planet - you can't dodge and planets don't blink. Act accordingly.
  12. Serious question, are you a parody account? It reads like it's written by some hilariously cliched middle aged southern white male saluting the flag while getting teary eyed. MERICA! Tsk tsk, it's spelled 'MURICA! You are playing chicken with a planet - you can't dodge and planets don't blink. Act accordingly.

    Tattoos?

I think I've seen that one. Is that the one where it's on her lower back, then also again (upside-down) on her shoulders? Classy. I've only got the one so far, the phrase "This too shall pass" in Hebrew on my left forearm. And yes, I'm aware of the irony of that phrase being permanently marked on my skin... And I love love love quality ink on women. You are playing chicken with a planet - you can't dodge and planets don't blink. Act accordingly.
  14. Alright, I'll bite, since I'm probably the most recent trigger for this thread. I guess my reason for asking was to get an idea of other peoples experiences, good and bad. I wasn't looking for someone to say "shit dude, rest up for 8 weeks and if you can raise your arm over your head you're good to jump!". I would have been happier to see someone point out where they screwed up in their recovery so I can avoid the same mistake. My physio doesn't know what forces are going to be working on my body in freefall, maybe someone here could've enabled me to explain it better than someone with my limited experience could. End of the day, I'm going nowhere near a rig until I'm cleared by the doc first, and my instructor second. I'm stupid enough to want to jump out of a plane in the first place. I'm smart enough to want to land safely and in one piece. You are playing chicken with a planet - you can't dodge and planets don't blink. Act accordingly.
  15. Thanks all. No need to remind me about not rushing, I think the most appropriate quote I've read (it may have been here?) was "you can heal slowly, or you can rush it and end up healing REALLY slowly". I have ZERO intention of going through that pain again... AAD and RSL are mandatory on student gear in Aus so that's covered already. My dislocation was on the ground after wrenching it in freefall during stage 1 AFF, if I'd not popped it then it almost would have definitely gone in the air on stage 2 - modified EPs are definitely something I've thought on and will discuss with my instructors before going up again. Also, what's Mantis? You are playing chicken with a planet - you can't dodge and planets don't blink. Act accordingly.
  16. Just a general query for those here who've managed to bust themselves up with this gem of an injury - how long did you tend to be out before you felt comfortable going up again? Any particular exercises you felt were best to strengthen it for the rather unique positions we need to be in in freefall and under canopy? My progress has been steady, but slow... Add to this the areas I still have most reduced range of motion are the ones I need to be strong in both for a good arch and for throwing the PC. Don't get me wrong, I listen to my physio, and I won't be back up before he says I'm good to go... but as an example, I told one of the guys running our exercise class at the hospital that I'd been advised to look at strapping the shoulder before jumping again for extra strength. He was cool with the idea, started making a few suggestions about how he'd do it, then proceeded to state that this would be the best way to stop it going up into the "catching a ball" position. I had to politely point out that this was exactly the position I need to be able to get to, and stable. We're still working on it... 17. Every time I start to think SC is too partisan, I go read the comments section on a Blaze article. I much, much, much prefer it here. You are playing chicken with a planet - you can't dodge and planets don't blink. Act accordingly.
  18. You're right, you should milk that feeling - by all accounts you're not going to get to do it for much longer... You are playing chicken with a planet - you can't dodge and planets don't blink. Act accordingly.
  19. Sorry, I probably wasn't very clear in my previous response (it was late and I'd had a few beers... ). I guess what I was getting at was more to do with the original topic - everyone seems to get riled up anytime a green company gets taxpayer funds but doesn't do so well. The same people who get angry about this rarely if ever seem to get riled up about their taxpayer dollars going to industries that haven't needed that cash for decades. The poster I replied to very likely doesn't agree with this wastage either - but many don't seem to care. You are playing chicken with a planet - you can't dodge and planets don't blink. Act accordingly.
  20. What was it that we were supposed to learn from this? In my opinion, basically that the gov't shouldn't be trying to pick winners and losers in new technology. If the researchers are left to figure out technologies with best return for their investment, they will. Gov't support of one technology over another (for instance, cf lightbulbs) kills competing ideas, and is not necessarily the best way forward. Then as soon as the subsidy ends, you're left with either something that doesn't work, or something you can't afford... Oil companies are offering something that "works" and is still technically "affordable"... explain why your government still subsidises them despite their consistent annual record profits? If you take the money from long-term unsustainable energy systems (that they sure as fuck don't need) and put it in renewables, it's a bet that will pay off. It may take a while, but that's how emerging tech works - expensive to start, each new iteration gets cheaper and more efficient. If you think fossil fuels are "cheap" then take away their crutches and see how they hold up... You are playing chicken with a planet - you can't dodge and planets don't blink. Act accordingly.

    DOMA

Tell ya what, instead of wasting my time any more, I'll just take the low road here and now. Suck my dick. Is that confusing to you? So lesbians and gays do party together enough so that you know all about gay me. . Also your logo, the non pink one is not in any example displayed in any of the links. So that must mean the organization you referred to is so underground or simple overlooked to be listed. So how did the logo end up all over the place. And why so much confusion in the gay community about an image for representation. Ah HA!!! You are playing chicken with a planet - you can't dodge and planets don't blink. Act accordingly.
  22. Good luck with that when we're talking genetics. *sigh* I know... I just find the entire approach to be the absolute worst version of capitalism gone wrong - their entire approach is to make as much cash as possible with zero thought or accountability for what could become an incredibly dangerous outcome. Oh yay. My quick google search tells me they're already over here. Well. Fuck. You are playing chicken with a planet - you can't dodge and planets don't blink. Act accordingly.
