Then don't use the popular vote, but do fix the EC. It no longer balances the playing field and instead implements tyranny of the minority - you still have one group dictating to another, it just flips who it is. Fix the representation to match the proportions it originally did. And restore the power (and responsibility dammit!) for the electors to override shitty decisions - their original intent was to prevent someone like Trump, not enable his otherwise unlikely victory.

Minor quibble, but it wasn't our first by any stretch, but it was the worst by a significant margin. I don't believe what worked for us would work for you, the starting environments are too far apart. I think a combination of a national registry and much stricter enforcement of existing laws are the starting points for gun reform in the US... though I know the former will never get anywhere because it will always be painted as the gateway to confiscation, regardless of whether that fear is valid. So, you get what you have.

I hadn't seen either skit, only heard the uproar. Having seen them now, the first one wasn't as bad as I'd expected but it was still borderline at best - maaaybe could have saved it if he'd been a little less dismissive in that one about how the wound had been received? I frequently disagree with your positions, but I never doubt that they've come from considered reasoning. You may have missed my point - if I was too subtle, that's on me. Regarding the thread, I'm not really pro or anti gun at this point. Gun control like ours would never work for your country, different foundations and existing supplies in place. Imo, the gun violence issue you have in the US is a combination of ease of access and a cultural attitude that it's acceptable to end a fist-fight with a bullet. Some of them are, and I agree with you for the most part on those. Most of them are things like a democratic staffer shouting "Fuck Trump" and not getting fired. I've been a little torn on this one... When I worked sales years ago, I once sold a prepaid phone to a known and infamous convicted paedophile (he'd done his time). It was icky, but I did it, because I didn't feel at the time I was in a position to refuse to do it and I was most of the way through the transaction before I pegged who he was when he gave me his ID. I wasn't the owner though. In the restaurant case, if it was just a server who refused it could be a bit different, however since it was the owner and it was done politely I don't think it was the worst possible action. I will add also for some posters here saying that this was a grab for "attention" or "fame" - almost no-one would have known about it if Sanders didn't tweet about how hard done by she was. I'm pretty sure this has been explained to you before, but let's try again. No one in their right mind thinks that this investigation is going to indicate that Russian interference swung the election. The crime is in TRYING. If members of the campaign were involved in that interference, they too have committed a crime. You should be outraged that a foreign power tried to fuck with your democratic processes, regardless of who got into the WH. My personal "betterment of mankind" proposal for years has been that everyone reaching adulthood must then work a minimum of 1 year mandatory in a customer-facing service industry - retail sales, food service etc. Within a couple generations I reckon everyone would be a hell of a lot nicer to other people in their daily interactions...
