And why not? Being "above" that kind of behaviour has had exactly zero benefit. Trump absolutely trashing all norms and running the office like his personal piggy-bank has had exactly zero consequence. What motive is there at this point to not simply join in? The bar. Has been. Set.

Anyone crying about petulance or decorum or tantrums from any part of the Democratic party can fuck right off. This is the bar that has been set, it's the new normal now, deal with it. They played nice and tried to do the right thing for years, and nothing changed. Trump didn't slow down one bit and no-one in his party has held him accountable, so why the hell would the D's continue to be the "nice" guys? It's almost like one party gets to do whatever they want and the other one is just supposed to take it. Same reason people are always saying the Dem's need to reach out and bring the moderate R's across to them with more conservative approaches, but will NEVER contemplate that maybe the R's should be trying to attract Dem's. To be logically consistent with your past statements (to the tune of "all subsidies are bad, even for FF"), for it to be a true free market then green companies should continue to get subsidised for as long as fossil fuels historically have been, with the FF subsidies ending immediately.

Your position is STILL the very definition of a logical fallacy. Either restate it, or admit you were wrong. And stop lying about what you said, we can all bloody read it for ourselves ffs. Given that societies have trended more secular in recent decades/centuries, it's a much easier argument to make that religion helped early development but then became more of a hindrance than benefit.

Ironically most of the failings of the ACA were added in due to things needing to be "bi-partisan". The US healthcare system is a joke. It's a profit-making machine for insurance companies, and the rest of the developed world will continue to gaze on in horror and disappointment until you guys sort your shit out.

On any given year here there's at least some of the fires that are lit deliberately, that's nothing new. What is becoming an increasing issue is that the window each year to do preventative burning is getting vanishingly small. It's just too hot and too dry to risk, so when fires do start they travel further and are much much harder to contain. Climate change isn't necessarily *starting* these fires, but it is absolutely making them worse. -

ICE should 100% be abolished but yeah the dude absolutely should not have skated on that. I don't think he was serious but that wording was enough that someone could have - don't know about jail time but acquittal does more harm than good, this sets a shitty precedent.

Yes, selling ad-space. For quite a while they angled on the anti-Trump side, which got them targeted by the Prez. Eventually they decided they didn't like the name calling and started doing much more positive coverage of Trump in order to seem "balanced", which hasn't done them any favours as he still shits on them on a semi-regular basis. No one from either side takes CNN seriously anymore, really. -

A flat tax can only be fair if everyone starts with a baseline (untaxed) income that is able to cover all essentials plus a little leftover. Without that, a flat-tax will always disadvantage the lowest income earners and is inherently UN-fair. -
Amazing it's lasted that long. But also reading through the article, doesn't look like it's necessarily going to have any big impacts quickly. I see many more cases being brought before there's meaningful change...

That's what was supposed to happen last time, the EC exists (in part) to stop someone like Trump getting it through if the voters mess it up. They didn't then, so they wouldn't this time either.

Just to be very clear here - do you mean once the heart is actually formed and functioning, or once we can hear a thing that *sounds* like a heartbeat but is in fact not remotely the same thing? As far as I'm aware, every proposed "heartbeat" bill so far has been the latter, and is based on junk science to put a limit at an unreasonably early date.

His style/personality guides the spin he uses to make his positions. I have a problem with almost any "true believer", which he most certainly is. Anyone whose approach is "this is how things are, if you don't agree then you're an idiot" - which is a constant thread I've seen in most of his talks and writing - isn't acting in good faith. Secondly, PragerU are hacks. I know, I know, don't attack the source, but sorry they're not credible in any way shape or form.

I'll confess up front that I haven't yet had the time to watch any of his talks, and I'll need to do that to have a properly informed opinion about the man. I did pick up one of his books in the shops the other day and had a quick skim through, my primary takeaway was "That's a hell of a lot of words to say 'I'm important and smart, pay ATTENTION to me!!!'". The fact that a huge portion of his fanbase are incels also tells me a good amount about the kind of "philosophies" he'll be spouting. But as I said, for a fully informed opinion I'll need to take some time to listen/read more than what I have.

Why are any of you even bothering? Ron has years of history here, with almost every post he's made falling into one of two categories - expert trolling and button-pushing, or bat-shit crazy delusions. He is never, ever, ever going to engage in lucid, good-faith discourse with any of you. You cannot reason with a troll, and you cannot reason with someone who has gleefully swapped facts for truthiness. Just let the experiment die.
