  1. Michelle, I must have missed the post that you were planning on jumping at Elsinore - I'm in town and had I known, I'd have met you there! Please give it another shot. Sharky WON'T let you down again (GRRRRRR.) Next time I head that direction I will pm you so we can meet and float thru the sky together.

  6. Holly, it's called SADD - Selective Attention Deficit Disorder. Isn't it fun?! --- www.facebook.com/mandyhamptonfitch
  7. Grasshopper - do you know Derek? He's an amazing rigger, canopy pilot and all around skydiver. Not to mention a great guy who goes way and I mean WAY out of his way to help out other skydivers. There are lots of great swoopers I wouldn't want to emulate. Being talented does not by definition make you a good teacher. It takes actually understanding the physics and concepts of what you're teaching, as well as the patience to approach the subject in a way that your students can digest. Add to that kindness and a sense of humour, as WELL as talent, and you have Derek, also known as Hooknswoop. Just thought you might like to know who you're talking about. See you next week at Elsinore. Mandy --- www.facebook.com/mandyhamptonfitch

  13. I read that, saw where he bemoaned putting on the board in the plane (it does suck) but said he loved sky surfing... I can only think of two sky surfers that died actually while sky surfing. Specifically, Jerry and a guy in England last year or so. Do you know of more? Thanks, this is really interesting to me (obviously!) Mandy --- www.facebook.com/mandyhamptonfitch
  14. Troy told you specifically that he quit sky surfing because it was too dangerous? Have you seen some of the stunts he pulled for MTV??? I'm stunned. --- www.facebook.com/mandyhamptonfitch

  18. In Reply To ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Have YOU ever jumped a board? ------------------------------------------------------------------------ >>no, but some of us werent there and wanna hear the story too!! >i assume your ok cause your here posting about it, did you do it in freefall or cutting it?? Okay, here you go. I didn't cut the board away, and I have figured out what I was doing wrong. Hopefully no more adventures like I had on Sunday! The board that broke (Saturday) was basically a piece of plywood with foot gear - it's a learning board and it gets dropped from various altitudes when we come in to land. I noticed a little crack in it after my first jump of the day but didn't say anthing because the board looked like shit anyway. At the end of the day I took it back to the school and mentioned the crack. Crack turned out to be terminal, board was broken in half to be safe. I wanted to hold a funeral for it but the boys laughed. Oh, and the "bigger" board that I had so much trouble with, was only 3 inches bigger. So 3 inches really does make a difference! Or, as someone else chimed in, it's not the size of the board but how you ride it! LOL --- www.facebook.com/mandyhamptonfitch
  19. Coolio! Ummmm how do you do that? --- www.facebook.com/mandyhamptonfitch

  22. I don't know what the order of the numbers mean, but here we go... 1 (board broken) 5 (jumps on prebroken then bigger board) 1 (terrifying fall thru sky can't get stable, lose 3,000 feet trying to pitch from bigger board) 1 (3way for Sky's 200 jump) 1 (sunset clear and pull from 13K - oh my god it's cold) What order would those go in? --- www.facebook.com/mandyhamptonfitch
  23. If this is MY Billy - Tent dude, what hotel? Also, you have my house in Phoenix on the way in and out. If this isn't my Billy, read Sangiro's post. --- www.facebook.com/mandyhamptonfitch
  24. I'm not employed by Eloy but I can tell you how hard the ground is! I had my BEER face plant today just short of the grass in front of the multitudes of Eloy citizens who spend the day watching jumpers and telling eachother that they know what we're doing.... The ground is hard. --- www.facebook.com/mandyhamptonfitch
