  1. I hate it when there's not adequate lubrication. The laws of physics are strictly enforced.
  2. I don't know about fat women, but those little skinny chicks are fragile. They are nice in magazines and movies, but they just break too easily. The laws of physics are strictly enforced.
  3. $13 jumps all winter long! The laws of physics are strictly enforced.
  4. My usual reply is that it gets better every time. For you, I'll just say it gets better, and eventually it gets to a point of "connection." The laws of physics are strictly enforced.
  5. Still in OH. I may never make it back to SC... The laws of physics are strictly enforced.
  6. 5 on what??? The laws of physics are strictly enforced.
  7. I especially like if they are tied up with twine... The fuzzy hempish type. The laws of physics are strictly enforced.
  8. Let's all try to look at this as a good opportunity... If he refuses the advise of the S&TA, and the DZO still lets him jump, lets all take out life insurance policies on him. It sucks when low-timers get a case of rectal/cranial inversion, so we might as well get a new otter out of it. (Tell him I said this - please) The laws of physics are strictly enforced.
  9. I can only hope you will, someday... The laws of physics are strictly enforced.
  10. The air that fills my lungs and my soul. Listening to someone who can talk. Talking to someone who can listen. Believing. Trusting. Teaching. Learning. When someone gets it. The laws of physics are strictly enforced.
  11. I do need a new necklace... The laws of physics are strictly enforced.
  12. The laws of physics are strictly enforced.
  13. Yea, 9.8 at 160... It would get smoked by a lot of things in the 1/8th. As I said it's not that quick "off the line" - a quarter of a mile is far from "the line." The laws of physics are strictly enforced.
  14. Purple falls slower??? I guess burgundy is kinda' purple, but darker like black, so it must fall faster... I still have my round one for sale, but you have to pay shipping, now. It's one of those push button automatic kinds. The laws of physics are strictly enforced.

    Need some help

How about a stripper? As near as I can tell from most threads, skydivers really like boobies... The laws of physics are strictly enforced.
  16. How dare you turn this thread into serious discussion??? Back to the real issues... What color Jansport do you have? Mine is sort of a burgundy, with the leather bottom. I figured the leather would be good if I didn't have a stand-up landing. The laws of physics are strictly enforced.
  17. A rigger does not have to be used - legally - to work on a main. You can work on your own main, if you really want to. If you have the altitude and ability to "fix" any type of malfunction - do so. I am a firm believer in the: "Your reserve may be as bad off, or worse than the problem with your main." If you can fly and land it safely, why risk a problem with your reserve? Clearing the lineover is the first course of action (pulling on toggles, suspension lines, risers, etc.). The next plan is to cut the offending line and perform a controllability check. Cutting a line on the opposite side of the canopy can sometimes restore symmetry and controllability, also. Bottom line: "Can this parachute fly and land me safely?" The laws of physics are strictly enforced.
  18. Did the rope actually break, or did the knot come out? Did you inspect the rope before your jump? I never jump without inspecting my ropes. The laws of physics are strictly enforced.
  19. Which rope broke??? The laws of physics are strictly enforced.
  20. Jay Leno has one of these beasts. Thay are definitely slow to accelerate. They also have a limited range (they run out of gas - quick). The same company also put one of these engines in a Ford Ranger. It was pretty useless. High fuel consumption, power was not "useable" and it was damned expensive. The company uses engines that cannot be used in aircraft anymore. Turbine engines have a finite lifespan. The engines are still serviceable, but FAA regs are FAA regs. Quatorze, maybe you could grab the next engine you guys are discarding and we could build a new golf cart for the DZ!?!?! The laws of physics are strictly enforced.
  21. Don't spend too much time worrying about him looking for you... This sport is like 13 to 1. Plenty of guys and very few girls. Everyone is looking for something. Only those who are truly commited to finding what we are looking for - without compromise - will find it. True love is not a goal. It is when you find someone to share your journey. How does that song go?... "This is how you remind me of what I really am..." The laws of physics are strictly enforced.
  22. Does drinking martinis make you a bad person? How about Margaritas? Does associating with crooks make you a criminal - plenty of them at the DZ? I wouldn't vote for Hitler just because of that annoying little mustache. Last I checked, Beethoven was still dead. The laws of physics are strictly enforced.
  23. She'd get just enough extra altitude to get hypoxic and pass out... The laws of physics are strictly enforced.
  24. Those are great! Here's one from the many I've heard from the DZ kids... We have a particularly mature 5 year-old who can come up with the most interesting questions. She has an understanding that boys and girls spend time together, like Mommy and Daddy do. She also has an understanding that animals and such do, too. That's why you don't let your female pets outside sometimes, because they can end up pregnant and you'll have too many pets. Now, as the picture of other creatures may have the same sort of arrangement, she became fascinated with some of the many, many spiders that inhabit our hangar. She says, "Cajones, what kind of spiders are those?" To which I reply, "Those are daddy long-legs." "Is one of them a mommy long-legs?" "No." I stated "They are both called daddy long-legs." There was a long pause as she crouched watching them. Then she stood up, promptly stomping them and proclaiming "We're not having that around here!" and walked away... The laws of physics are strictly enforced.

    My 200th !

Congratulations! It is truly wonderous how a single sport can be such an array of experiences. I'm not certain how it has worked (sort of a chicken and the egg thing), but skydiving has run the gamut of emotions and experiences for me. When I was a little younger and crazier, skydiving was crazier. As I've changed and evolved, skydiving has seemed to evolve, too. What I experience each time I slip the surly bonds goes beyond poetry. What I feel, out there alone, or out there with friends and strangers - how I wish I could put it in a bottle and share it with the world. Maybe if we could get some more of the world to evolve with us, they'd understand "it," tew... The laws of physics are strictly enforced.
