What is the rush. 1:1 is the upper limit of what you should be jumping until you are current and have a bit more experience I am sure other people will chime in but a 150 at 1:1.1 is not the same as a 210 at 1:1.1 Neither of these are reccomeneded for your experience level Any mistakes you make low down are going to happen a lot quicker
  2. Your licence is recognised internationally You should not need to convert it There may be some additional tasks that the US licence requires that you did not do. These, I imagine, would need to be completed before a B licence was issued That is my understanding of how things work when moving countries. Please can a more experienced jumper comment
  3. Thats just being difficult I will be loaded at a 1.05 WL on the reserve I just bought. Realistically what sort of injuries would you expect, broken legs, mangled face etc. if you came in unconscious due to an aad deployment Obviously if you end up flying into a tree trunk or hanger things will not be good no matter the WL

  7. +1 Besides the pdf on the aerodyne website the only opinion i have heard on the container is from one of the design team. Looking for a less bias one

I will admit to bias here since the VortexII is manufactured in my city, but it would be my choice They are very comon in SA and in particular the newer containers with some of the bells and whistles like extra padding are very comfortable I have seen one where the reserve had not been packed well and the reserve pilot chute cap was creating a snag hazard but this is not the norm

  10. 10 seconds minimum, more like 15 till you need to pull. Now wait for a bad weather day and go go h&ps from cloud base at 3500, that makes me a bit more tense. I was in a plane with a guy doing his final PRO (demo) rating jump. It is an exit from 2000ft. Now that is low but he still took a 3-5 second delay to get stable I saw don't give the rest of the load any satisfaction, act like you dont care and just go for it

As an aside: How do containers that have the reserve pilot chute external but still underneath 2 flaps compare to a pop top and completely covered pilot chute Im thinking of a vortex2/wings/javlin odyssey. Are these closer to a pop top due to less flaps on top of the reserve or is the design fundementally different because the pin is still on top ( i think it is on top at lease)
  12. This made me laugh in a meeting when I read it earlier If line twists or end cell closure are worthy of news we all got to start cashing in. What do you think i can get for countering a spin caused by loosing a bootie before my eyes turned red and I passed out and died
  13. Jumped an older tear drop for the first time this weekend, first time jumping a rig without RSL or an AAD. I figured that if all goes wrong and I pull silver at least the reserve is coming out quickly :p

I do not know the procedure elsewhere in the world but after 10 AFF levels we need to complete 7 ISP jumps (Intermediate skill program) These are all 2 way jumps, some linked exit, some unlinked with basic FS and canopy skills to be performed on each jump. This sounds a bit like what the british do. The advantage of this was that by the time I got my licence I was fairly used to doing 2 ways. Now my story of when I found myself in your position: Just after getting my licence I go off to a boogie. I have been doing 2 ways so Lets try a 3 way next So 2 A-licence and a C-licence jumper get together for a jump and we plan a horny gorrila. The jump went moslty to plan but funneled after we released arms. After being flipped upside down and then tracking next to another jumper I turn away, track and go to pull. Worst pull I had done up to this point. I was over amped and rushing things Dropped my right shoulder, almost flipped over. kept the pilot chute in my hand, got stable and released. Got very close to doing what you did Lesson learnt: Take things slow. Try one new thing at a time. Dont put yourself on jumps you know you should not be doing. Relax and dont panic

This video scared me for 2 reasons firstly it could have very easily been a double fatality secondly because having recently gone low on a formatation and had an experience jumper track over me around break off I could have been that guy. I had not really concidered the correct procedure to follow until now. I handeled it by continuing to track, and then pulled when i saw him deploy. I got into some trouble about opening low, undercanopy at 1900. I went low becasue I lost altitude awareness ,it was not my plan to open low. In the hopes of avoiding this in future, what should I had done. If I pulled at the correct height this may have happenned

  17. The first one is a lot more scary than the second, pinned to the roof is not somewhere i want to find myself In the case of a wing braking off though I think you have little chance if the wing that comes off. it may be possible depending on which wing and the aircraft in question

At that wing loading and on a student canopy your front risers are going to be very hard to pull On a 235 student canopy I was loaded at 0.8 and pretty much climbed the front risers without much effect Loaded 1:1 on a pilot i can get it to dive though Also havng front risers with loops make it much more forgiving on your hands Noob tip: fly in 1/4 or 1/2 brakes first then imediatly go to front risers, this makes it easier to deform the parachute

Do It! we have a few very scenic drop zones but the country as a whole is so diverse and beautiful I think I would put my self in a tunnel for a few hours a week to start with Jumping 5 days a week, 5 loads a day works out to around 1300 in a year which i think would be enough to keep me pretty happy Travel to boogies around the world, learn to fly a wingsuit that sounds like a good year
