You said "And no doubt he has the capabilities...maybe not war but terrorism... and you know, that really will curtail the freedom... " I said I won't live in fear. -------------------------------------------------- the depth of his depravity sickens me. -- Jerry Falwell, People v. Larry Flynt

If it's big enough to wipe out France, it will probably get all of us and the tidal wave will get all the ships around. So, we send all the planes we can to evacuate England and Spain. Now, if it's magically, limited to France, we just fly them to Iraq, where they'll be safe. -------------------------------------------------- the depth of his depravity sickens me. -- Jerry Falwell, People v. You think the French would turn him away? - Jim They're the ones shielding him They're gonna change theire minds now? Yep, they'd have no more financial incentive if he wasn't in power. -------------------------------------------------- the depth of his depravity sickens me. -- Jerry Falwell, People v. Larry Flynt

Why? Well apparently Sadaam said in response to the ultimatum that when you start the war be aware that it will be fought everywhere - paraphrasing there but what he said certainly gave me the impression that he would have no problem retaliating on american soil. And no doubt he has the capabilities...maybe not war but terrorism... and you know, that really will curtail the freedom... Genie Saddam never had any problems with attacks on American soil. In fact, he pays money to the families of terrorists. So, now that he has admitted direct links to terrorists... I have no doubt that there are sleeper cells in the US, but if you are going to worry about being a victim of them, your fear is curtailing your own freedom and he wins without lifting a finger. My prayers go out to the troops and their familes.

That comment was directed to the use of WMD, which probably isn't a problem for UK soldiers. -------------------------------------------------- the depth of his depravity sickens me. -- Jerry Falwell, People v. Larry Flynt

While post-war Iraq is an interesting question for debate, I think the above ignores who Saddam is and the present problem he presents. I would be more interested in the writers' plan than their verbose expression of concern and analogy to the business cycle of writing off accumulated financial losses every so often or a futile battle. It seems inconsistent to argue that the Shiites will start their own islamic republic (which the northern Kurds will not doubt oppose) while at the same time, they won't be happy to be rid of an oppressive regime to be able to do so. If there is a bubble to be burst, it is Saddam's delusions of gradeur. -------------------------------------------------- the depth of his depravity sickens me. -- Jerry Falwell, People v. The right is to be able to say what you want, not be shielded from the repercussions thereof. The same 1st Amendment protects people when they refuse to support someone who takes a position diametrically opposed to theirs, when they challenge those statements or withdraw financial support. -------------------------------------------------- the depth of his depravity sickens me. -- Jerry Falwell, People v. The Brits are meeting again tomorrow for a vote and the UN just started pulling their people out; so, probably not tonight. But, it sounds like the UN expecting a strike soon and is making plans for humanitarian aid and presence in post-war Iraq. -------------------------------------------------- the depth of his depravity sickens me. -- Jerry Falwell, People v. Check out this from the July BOD meeting: http://www.uspa.org/CurrentMembers/SafetyTraining/STNews080102.doc USPA Licenses will be aligned with the FAI requirements effective September 30, 2003. The jump number requirements will be the following: q 25 for a USPA A License q 50 for a USPA B License q 200 for a USPA C License q 500 for a USPA D License Appropriate changes will also be incorporated into the competition and rating systems to allow for similar jump number requirements that already exist in order to obtain ratings or enter competition. Those who have obtained a license prior to September 30, 2003 will not be required to meet any additional jump numbers if they are below the FAI minimum when they receive their USPA License. You can also find the same info in December: http://www.uspa.org/CurrentMembers/SafetyTraining/STNews122702.DOC -------------------------------------------------- the depth of his depravity sickens me. -- Jerry Falwell, People v. I recently asked about that and Ian's reply was: "Based upon feedback we received from riggers in the field and their lack of confidence in type III tape due to the Raven failures, we have used wider Type I tape on the Smart line attachments." -------------------------------------------------- the depth of his depravity sickens me. -- Jerry Falwell, People v. Speaking of Turkey, I wonder if it doesn't have some concerns regarding a post-war Iraq. Specifically, Sen Biden went to visit the Iraqi Kurds, who are interested in a state or at least, an influence on Bagdad in a post-war Iraq. The Kurdish minority in Turkey hasn't gotten along well with the government (to say the least). So, could Turkey be concerned about a stability problem in eastern Turkey outweighed by any aid package the US provided? -------------------------------------------------- the depth of his depravity sickens me. -- Jerry Falwell, People v.
