Boy, you hit the nail on the head there Chris. These pop ups are not coming from the 'net, as you think they are. They are internal. Did you install anything recently? (GameSpy is a nasty install. Turns on messenger every time, and it doesn't get turned off by uninstalling the program that started all the crap). Prepare for a registry hack to get rid of 'em. It's your life, live it! My point is that a person with, say, 400 jumps and a 1.4 wingload jumps only at, hmmm, say, Deland. Nice, low, thick air. Consistent winds. Extremely proficient canopy pilot. This jumper gets on a plane and goes to, say, Colorado for a boogie. This jumper encounters a low/no wind condition, and doesn't realize what his canopy is about to do to him/her in the thin air. Said jumper crashes and burns. Why? Conditions other than wingloading factor in here greatly, but the report would just say "400 jumps, low turn (which may not have seemed low in FL), 1.4 WL. If you people are really going to pick this all apart, get all the facts. Add these to the list: 1. Landing area elevation. 2. Jumpers home dz elevation (if different). 3. Wind conditions. 4. Currency (jumps in the last 30 days). These are all big contributing factors to accidents, but are rarely mentioned. It's your life, live it! Good! Jan, This is a very public forum. Much more so than news:rec.skydiving. People have problems here. The problem "solvers" are not looking for a "pat on the back", as you say. They are just helping. 1. Jack had a problem with the U.P.S.A., and he eventually resorted to posting that problem here. 2. This was posted in reply to a recently elected board member. One whom claims to be "For the fun jumpers". Jack and TLML are as "fun" of jumpers as you are gonna get. 3. You're reply was to me, instead of the person with the problem. Public eye Jan. A simple little "Sorry Jack, I'll see what I can do" or anything along those lines, followed by a follow up post from either of you would have made a world of difference. I'm very happy that things have been straightened out for Jack and Lynn, but it begs a new question: "Why did they need to resort to a slightly stinging post to see results?"
