My thoughts exactly, though probably in a bit different context than what you meant. It's your life, live it! Karma RB#684 "Corcho", ASK#60, Muff#3520, NCB#398, NHDZ#4, C-33989, DG#1

I would consider that a personal attack on the future Ex Mrs. Manny. Ivan, if you consider her a fat cow, you have some really serious issues. It's your life, live it! Karma RB#684 "Corcho", ASK#60, Muff#3520, NCB#398, NHDZ#4, C-33989, DG#1

To nobody in particular, just the thread in general. At a few DZ's I've been too, I saw a memorial wall, giving tribute to those that have passed on. We need a memorial/shame/open your fucking eyes wall at DZ's too. "Yes, and this is the wall of people who have died, femured (remember when that was NOT a verb?), broke this/that/the other thing because they were stupid. These were on canopies they were not ready for. These over here were on the right canopy, but made the wrong choice. Oh, and this guy here decided to walk the swoop course." Open the new eyes to all the injuries around them. Maybe even add a blurb to the ones that lived as to what they are flying now, if they even skydive anymore. Yes, I was stupid, and am quite happy to have made it this far. It's your life, live it! Karma RB#684 "Corcho", ASK#60, Muff#3520, NCB#398, NHDZ#4, C-33989, DG#1

I was ASE certified in 1990. Haven't worked in a retail shop environment since 1992. So, I guess you can call me a "Backyarder with more $$$ stuck in tools than most people have in their homes." (Yea, I was a Snap-On and Matco geek. Still can't stand Mac though.) The reason I suggested I dealership for the tests is that particular tranny needs to have the computer scanned for a complete check. Everything else I agree with. Did I forget to mention the 3.3 in my 92 Grand Caravan, at 146,000 miles, dusted a late 90's Camaro RS last week? Skymama, bring it on! It's your life, live it! Anyone, and I mean ANYONE with a Chrysler Corp (Plymouth, Dodge, Chrysler) 4 speed transmission NEEDS TO READ THIS: http://www.allpar.com/fix/trans.html Van, car, truck. 4, 6, or 8 cylinder matters not as much as the fact that the vehicle has a 4 speed automatic tranny. Yes, Chrysler knows about the problems (hear about all those dead trannys in the late 90s and early 2000 trucks?) and NO, they are not covering them, nor are they recalling any of them. It's the old "if I close my eyes and plug my ears, the problem will go away" crap. It's your life, live it! Karma RB#684 "Corcho", ASK#60, Muff#3520, NCB#398, NHDZ#4, C-33989, DG#1

Actually, you'll probably be safe if it's NOT a 3.3. Have it checked anyway. The tranny that backs the 3.3 is a very expensive option for the rest of the engines, but was standard on the 3.3 v6. Ever stand near a street and hear that "Buzzzzzzz, click!"? That's that tranny. Not normal band controls. Hydraulic soleniod valves instead. How many people have ever driver an early 90's Honda with an automatic? Grin, not many, since the ones that were actually made are pretty much in junkyards, while the 5 speed versions of the same cars are still on the road. Here's the strange tidbit of info. http://www.allpar.com/fix/trans-testimonials.html It's your life, live it! Karma RB#684 "Corcho", ASK#60, Muff#3520, NCB#398, NHDZ#4, C-33989, DG#1

More specifiaclly, Lisa, have the transmission checked with a fine toothed comb. This van could literally go forever, with proper care. The BIG stumbling block is the Chrysler Corp Tranny. I'm not kidding, I just had to replace the tranny in my 92. Did it myself, so it only cost parts, which happened to be to the tune of $1685.00 (plus tax). Why did the tranny fail? Simple, a typo in the owners manual. It says to use a very specific tranny fluid, but Dexron II (or III) is ok if the Chrysler fluid is not available. Well, it's wrong. One pint of Dexron fluid in a Chrysler tranny can destroy it in as little as 100 miles. Other than tranny issues, it's a rock solid van. I love mine, but seriously, get that tranny checked before you commit. (It's like $50 for a full check at a Chrysler dealership, which are the only ones who can properly check the tranny.) Good luck! (I was going to PM this, but figured the info might help more than just you.

Bullshit. Jumpers who choose ignore the opinions and advice of more experienced jumpers tend to get hurt or worse. And jumpers that listen to and follow the advice and opinions of more experienced jumpers get hurt or worse. It's skydiving, shit happens. No matter what you are thinking about doing, the final decision is up to you. RW, VRW, CRW, Style, Accuracy, swooping, photography, ect. They all can hurt you, or worse. Whatever you choose to do, research it. Ask alot of questions. Take in all opinions. Then, after all that, MAKE YOUR OWN DECISIONS. I read about all the reccomendations about 200 jumps, and now Quade says he thinks you should have a USPA D lisense or the equivilent. Well, that's 500 jumps. By 500 jumps (hell, by 150) most jumpers have found their niche, and have settled into it. Adding a camera then adds a distraction. I started at 100 jumps, exactly, after reading everthing I could get my hands on, on the subject. It wasn't a distraction to me, it was a focus point. Something to work on, to excel at. I'm not great, yet, but I made the right decision. I read, I weighed options, then I made my own decision. Make your own, but make sure you make it educated. I, for one, would not change a thing I have done. It's your life, live it! Karma RB#684 "Corcho", ASK#60, Muff#3520, NCB#398, NHDZ#4, C-33989, DG#1

I like my Samsung N200. I'll be ugrading in te near future though. I'm staying with Sprint too. I know they are not perfect, but they cover my home area, and give me inexpensive nationwide roaming and long distance. Sure, it kinda sucks that it's digital only, but hell, driving a semi means I'm on an interstate 98% of the time anyway. It's your life, live it!
