  1. Also, if you are driving a manual transmission (sometimes it happens in an auto, but it's quite a bit more rare), are in a mid range gear (2nd - 3rd)and hit the brake fairly firmly (like turning into a driveway) without pushing in the clutch, the engine will lag badly. If it goes under 500 rpm (aprox), the computer will take over and apply throttle to keep the engine from dying. So, think of it in these steps: 1. Drive along, 15 or so mph, in 3rd gear. 2. See your turn at the last second, or just wait until the last second (as if you were in a hurry). 3. Turn wheel and apply brake firmly, without downshifting (possible in an auto too). 4. Engine lags, computer tries to compensate, and surges you ahead. This is the same basis for surges at highway speed. In an automatic, things may happen too fast for the comoputer to compensate. Stomp brake, engine lags, computer compensates, thinking the engine is about to die, and the transmission downshifts at the same time. Now you have an angine that is unencumbered by lag, a transmission that essentially just hit passing gear, and a computer about to "give it the gas". Scary combination, but it happens every day. 2. I really should agree with that, but it's a nice source of locked threads to go back and skim when I'm bored. Maybe we should have a sub group under "Talkback", called "Religion and Political Threads". They would be so much easier to ignore that way, and the greenies could dump the ones started in the other forums there! It's your life, live it! 3. I've been working on my house, and fighting unemployment since July. I've got a jump on the books over there with Donna, it's just that every time I can actually get away, the ceiling is like 800 feet! We can't blame dz.com for the weather, but we can complain (a peeve, if you will) about all those posts from people saying how wonderful their weather is, and that they are really, really sorry ours isn't as good (yea, right!). 5. Hey Pat! Nice to know someone else that jumps at Omro is freezing up here, and scanning dz.com! It's your life, live it! Karma RB#684 "Corcho", ASK#60, Muff#3520, NCB#398, NHDZ#4, C-33989, DG#1
  6. The repost police only piss me off sometimes. Often there is some cool reading in the thread they bring up. My peeve is when someone posts a reply to a thread like "ZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzz" because it bored them, and they couldn't find a link to call it a repost. Now that's annoying. 7. The "A" is actually the easiest quiz to study for. Since it's oral, you never really know what the questions might be. Alot of the stuff you should already know, but basically, if you have the ISP down, you'll have no problems passing. Good Luck! It's your life, live it! 8. Oh Jim, you need to do the reppel thing with WFFC and myself out of a hot air balloon. I'd be all over that too! Of course, I should probably learn what to do sometime before actually dropping out of the balloon...
  9. Whichever one I happen to be visiting at any particular time. Yeah, I second that. If I'm at the DZ, then you know you're going to have a good time.
  10. I have a 150-foot Blue Water Static rtope I'll bring for rappeling. I'll set it up and teach rappeling if anyone is interested. Derek Now that interests the shit outta me! I've never thought that I had the strength or stamina for climbing, and possibly not the needed dexterity either, but rappeling.....that's something I'd love to try! It's your life, live it! 11. Whichever one I happen to be visiting at any particular time. Baring that, the one with the largest gathering of dropzone dot commers at any given time. If you can't find those 2, stay in bed. It's your life, live it! Karma RB#684 "Corcho", ASK#60, Muff#3520, NCB#398, NHDZ#4, C-33989, DG#1

  14. 1st off, there are no Rodriguez "people". We are all brothers. It's just that some of us have bumps, hence the "Bumpy Brothers". The information you seek can be found here.
  15. More As much as I hate the cold up here, it would be a VERY difficult place to leave for good. It's home. It's your life, live it! Karma RB#684 "Corcho", ASK#60, Muff#3520, NCB#398, NHDZ#4, C-33989, DG#1

  17. I'm a hellofa good mechanic, so I fix everything that goes wrong pretty quickly, as well as cheaply. My cars are safe, but for perspective, if a light comes on, or a guage reads wierd, I'll fix it when the weekend comes. If I noitcie a problem on my rig, I will NOT use it until I either fix it, or have it fixed. So, even though my cars are quite safe, the rig is still safer. It's your life, live it! 18. No whips or chains from the "soccer mom".......but she did show me the green buttons on her screen. Did you know the Greenies have a "Team Room" ? She said they all get on-line together and make fun of all us black-named peons.
  19. Did it involve whips, gags, a chain, and lots of "Yes, Madams"? I heard BillVon has been letting a few secrets fly around the dungeon, but Andrea passing the information on to a simple, non greenie? Oh, the horror! It's your life, live it! 20. I think you might be a little bit off. The catergory is fine for the jewlery, as it exposes it to a much broader customer base. Those that browse by category might stumble on it, and maybe even buy. I, like you, also browse Ebay primarily with the skydiv* search, and a bunch of "-" behind it (like -bobster -transformer -dvd -trance, ect). I would get the listing based on my search, and others looking for jewlery would get it by browsing. It's your life, live it! Karma RB#684 "Corcho", ASK#60, Muff#3520, NCB#398, NHDZ#4, C-33989, DG#1
  21. Got on, like it, used to wear it all the time. Then I found out my skin does not tolerate the standard cheap jewlery metals. If it's not Sterling, Stainless, or 14k or higher gold, I can wear it for about 4 hours. Then I better get it off, or I'm gonna be scratching till I have blood everywhere. I'm thinking hemp with stainless clasps next.
  22. What about husband beaters? You left out husband beaters. You know, the guys who will not hit a woman, no matter how badly that particular bitch might deserve it? Not that I would have any first hand knowledge of that, ya know. It's your life, live it! Karma RB#684 "Corcho", ASK#60, Muff#3520, NCB#398, NHDZ#4, C-33989, DG#1
  23. Nice catch! Very nice! My rigger, Alan Binnebose, as he has been training me, showed me how easy that happens. It doesn't take much at all. Then he showed me how the give the cutaway handle one full twist before mating the velcro. This puts tension on it, and actually helps it stick out. It works, and I assemble all rigs like this now. Something to think about.
  24. BWAHAHAHAHA!!! How about those that say tube stoes are the way to go 'cause they don't break? I looooove getting them going. It's your life, live it! Karma RB#684 "Corcho", ASK#60, Muff#3520, NCB#398, NHDZ#4, C-33989, DG#1
