I just saw the 20-400 hz in your post. Ignore that. The hallmark of a good sub installation is not being able to tell where the subs are. The lower frequencies are not directional, like mids and highs. Keep your crossovers at 120hz for a 18db or higher slope, under 100 for a 12 db or less slope. Anything over that turns into directional sound, muddys the bass, and makes placement critical. Reserve the 120-400 range for a good set of 6 1/2 in mid-bass. It's your life, live it! Don't do it. Just don't. The major funtion of a DVC subwoofer is the lower the impedence seen by a single amp. What would you rather have, a 2 ohm load via 2 voice coils and one 12, or a 2 ohm load via 2 voice coils and 2 cones? Point is, there is a limiting factor on the amount of db a cone can produce, despite the power you throw at it. Cone area x cone travel gives you your db level. You want more sound, add more cones. CASAs Skyvan C-130 Caravan Hot air balloon I never really felt the urge to do a balloon jump, but decided to give it a try this year at the WFFC, in my Bird-Man suit no less. The last comp system I built was 4 12" MTX Black Gold's, in the trunk of an 89 Grand Am. Simple sealed box, and it hit 145 db it's 1st competition, unfinished, and took home gold. Very tight, very clean. If you are looking for decent punch and clarity, stay away from ported and 15's. Stay with 12's, set up sealed boxes, and maybe add a couple. An added benefit of a sealed box, MUCH smaller area needed! p.s. 4-10's will ROCK YOUR WORLD, and fit under most p/u truck back seats, if done right. It's your life, live it!
