  1. I went on a date recently and my username came up Her: I was afraid you'd be some humongous fat guy but you're not.. So why Big Mike?.. Me: You'll see..
  2. She couldnt have picked a better film... "Every man has his breaking point. You and I have it. Colonel Kurtz has reached his, and very obviously he's gone completely insane." The horror.. The horror..
  3. That is good. What I believe to be equally good is that there's an increasing number of people beginning to recognize that Gibby's actions and words aren't things that a healthy person would necessarily do and say... Not for her sake, but rather for the sake of the community. It is important to spot these things so we as a society are not taken, willingly or otherwise, into the world and agenda of a madman. History shows this has happened all too often. Like I said, for the benefit of the community. Kim Gibbs is going to do what she is going to do. And I learned long ago when dealing with a personality like that, you can scream, yell, beg, jump up and down on a table and flap your arms... whatever.. And you still won't get through to the person. Kim wants empathy, she might just have a little bit of it from me - but only because it is easier to pity the willfully ignorant than it is to educate them... NOT for the situation she has created.
  4. That's not a filed complaint.. Without a case number, it's just an angry letter.
  5. Gibby sez: Does anyone have proof that her complaint was even filed? I commented earlier that I can sit around and write ludicrous legal motions all day too, and as far as I am aware that's all this has really amounted to - a bunch of hot air. She uses words like "moving forward" and "potentially". That's vague, non-committing language. She uses the popular catchphrase "bullies" in a terrible attempt to gain attention and build empathy for both herself and her manufactured cause. I think that if this woman(?) were as intelligent as she would lead her cult of followers/neighbours to believe, and if there really was an actual (in the REAL WORLD) pending legal action as opposed to the ill-worded and rambling complaint that was presented a week or so ago, NONE of this would be happening. Her mouth would be shut tight. Has anyone given thought to the possible scenario that Gibby raised enough money to put legal counsel on retainer, that her counsel is just like most every other lawyer out there (sorry folks for generalizing, I know I've jumped with some of you in the legal profession) and will of course take her retainer money just for the sake of, welll, taking on new business?? And that possibly CQS KNOWS there isn't a snowball's chance in Iraq of their case moving forward and are just grasping at whatever she believes might help her prove to everyone how much of a victim she is? I usually don't run-on sentences like that.. whew. But really, we are all mostly level headed people on here. We know when a person isn't "right".. And is there anyone among us who thinks that there aren't some serious mental issues at work with this woman?
  6. pfft. Neat-o, but not really impressed. I'll keep my minivan... Cracked windshield and all. It's paid off and still running great and perfect for carrying things.
  7. Dinner and an evening of excess.
  8. Actually, being able to "Pack a main parachute without assistance" is item #5 in the Equipment Knowledge section on the A License Proficiency Card. It doesn't say anything about jumping your own packjob, but the rigger who gave me a packing class wouldn't sign off until I jumped it. Jumping my own packjob for the first time was really exciting and I felt like a boss once in the saddle. I mean, everything worked...
  9. Yeah look at the bright side, you realized it was really your fault and you're not so grumpy anymore! It's hard to be grumpy with ourselves yet remarkably easy to do so with others. I'd pay the $50 promptly. I'm afraid to park in Denver since I neglected to pay my $25 ticket a few months ago. I'm sure it's something astronomical now.
  10. Yes, because to some folks, having tall and intrusive poles on "your" property is less offensive than aircraft doing their thing.
  11. Welcome! Every journey through AFF is unique.. Enjoy it!
  12. No. Unicorns flatulate rainbows, but defecate cupcakes. Therefore, any residuals left on the grass would most likely be icing.
  13. From my understanding, the AAD Fund is not supported by USPA membership dues and donations are completely optional. That being said, I can't imaging there is a vast ocean amount of money being misused. Are you upset with the way in which your dues are spent in general?
  14. I think the FAA has already, on several occasions even, determined that there are no safety issues on which to base a restriction of skydiving operations at KLMO. I believe that the Longmont airport advisory board knows this and has seen how costly dealing with a part 16 will be in the long run (case in point, recent settlement with Eugene Skydivers) and wants nothing to do with any of it. The USPA AAD, from what I've read in past cases, has done a good job setting precedents that provide defense for future cases. This, as stated above, also acts as a deterrant to local city/county boards who think it might just be easier to restrict/shut down a DZ just to quell the ignorant fury of a very vocal few. That being said, no I have not heard of the AAD fund being used for cases which do not involve BOTH the FAA and a DZ being denied access - But I'm just a low number new guy. The AAD fund is not an unlimited resource. I hope that this case DOESN'T involve access issues in the future so that the funds which ARE there can be used for a cause greater than one which our favourite Gunbarrell resident has championed. CQS has already wasted everyone's time, and that's permissable in the weird world of small town politics. But start wasting people's money, and it won't last long. But I digress. Are you suggesting that USPA clarify for everyone what the AAD fund is for? I don't see anything wrong with that. But let's not get too upset because someone doesn't full on understand.
  15. I have a lot to say about the potentially libelous behaviour of CQS, but in case MHSC decides to pursue any kind of counterclaim I feel it best to not make a comment about it here on the board. I just want MHSC to continue to be the active part of the community that they are, and for the CQS goons to move on. Literally.. MOVE on.
  16. The article mentions nothing of the jurisdiction of the suit. Are we talking about Longmont Municipal Court, Boulder County District, what? I wager that the petition is dismissed by a magistrate before anyone sees the inside of a courtroom. I also hope that Gibby leveraged her house to pay for her own legal fees.. That way when the respondent is awarded legal expenses, she can move to a cardbord box alongside the South Platte and see what REAL noise and nuisances are out there, and see how REALLY rude and obnoxious people are. Bottom line here, this is CQS last stand and they want to go out guns blazing and then continue to ocmplain how they were disenfranchised by "the man" and "the system" that is forcing them all to live in the agony of constant droning (which is quieter than a normal conversation and even birds chirping) Came across this little ditty which reminds me of the CQS bunch..lol
  17. There are lots of (especially newer) jumpers who post general thoughts and experiences as they go along into the "introductions and greets" area.. Maybe add a new topic called "The Logbook"...
  18. Tomorrow we jump The balloon will be ready Ha ha ha yeah right.
  19. I've noticed that the artist seems to be doing more sculpture work and mobile pieces now and fewer/smaller pieces that might offend the goons. By goons I mean the people who can't differentiate between a street artist and a vandal. But really - It's all up to interpretation... and public art, whether commissioned or not, isn't going to last forever. Banksy seems to appreciate this. As far as the police go, I'm sure that there are precinct pools and unofficial bounty pools for whomever can make the bust. Let's assume for a moment that authorities do in fact identify the artist, and he/she/they is/are exposed for being the heathens they are.. Who's the real criminal? Isn't there something inherently good about an unknown crusader of art stalking around in the shadows of night, providing the general public with interesting and thought provoking pieces they might not have ever been exposed to? The whole thing is incredibly romantic... I can't imagine Banksy being that much of a top priority of NYPD when there are rapists, scoundrels, and politicans running rampant around the city.
  20. What they said... Ask your instuctors questions and make sure that you understand their answers fully. Mock up, mock up, mock up. Embrace your fear (especially of the door!) and enjoy it while it lasts
