Most gloves are alright... Thicker ones though, are not. My helmet fits snug and properly, and my mouth is pointed at the opening. Perhaps the angle of the picture deceived you.
-
I learned the hard way to avoid heavy gloves with the PhantomX... The small visor release buttons on either side are just too difficult to open w some gloves on. I was under canopy, completely blind from the fog, only able to get one glove off (the left one was under altimeter) and thus only able to kind of unlock one side. Was ready to rip the visor off completely if I had to. Live and learn. I stand by my choice of the PhantomX and think its a good helmet; but just like many other kinds of gear it has its quirks.

I find that pushing the helmet liner away from the mouth vents helps for a little bit. Even in freefall, however, it just fogs... I'm glad the Phantom XV was designed to help mitigate it, but at the same time disappointed because I just bought my PhantomX in January

$3,619 including FJC, USPA membership, all gear rental, jump tickets, two AFF level-repeats, 9 coached jumps, videographer for one of my AFF jumps, a packing class, and 77 gallons of gas to cover the 15 round-trips to the DZ. Not including food/beer.

I don't remember, but it came with the new helmet. Some brand of dry wipe that didn't work well for me.
-
I've had fogging issues with my PhantomX since day one. Sometimes its not as bad as others, and sometimes it's just downright dangerous if I don't open my visor immediately as a part of my housekeeping routine. I've used their recommended anti-fog wipes but to no avail. I just try to keep the vent around the mouth area as open as possible. It's still a good helmet, but the fact that one of the most significant changes Square1 made when designing the PhantomXV is the venting kind of speaks volumes.

INDEED I HAVE!!! I have also learned that sometimes the greatest contribution you can make is the one where you don't say a word. ETA- Also that one of the worst things you can talk about on DZ.com is skydiving. 90% of the people on here are has-beens, full of hot air. 4% are trying to sell me a fake passport, 2% are attorneys trying to bank off of an injury claim, 3% are current jumpers who think their way is the best and ergo the only way, and the final 1% are current, rational, and levelheaded peeps. If the shoe fits, go ahead and put it on. From time to time there is an interesting and worthwhile discussion, but those are the exception.

Why don't you jump with some force-measuring equipment and tell US? Your name is a sham, I have bellybutton lint older than your registration date, and this is your first post. Contribute something worthwhile and inform US of your findings.

APF Promotional Video - "How to Skydive"

Hey that's spiffy! -
It ain't cheap. between the deposit and the rental fee, you can buy a well-loved rig.

It's really not possible to accurately gauge events that didn't happen.

I stopped reading after about the third or fourth sentence, partially because what you wrote seemed to be more of an emotional rant suited for the Speaker's Corner but mostly because I value good paragraph structure. The vast majority of readers here can easily differentiate between someone ( be they a wet-behind-the-ears noob or a seasoned veteran) who is being a whiny little baby and someone with a legitimate issue.

Yes, you will want to try it on.. at LEAST try it on first, before you buy. I wanted a G3 too, honestly, because it looked cool and all the experienced skydivers wore them. Like a pack of hells angels or something, all in their G3's. I wanted to fit in (I'm not the most sociable person at first so I'm already struggling around the DZ to find my place) and so naturally that was one step in the right direction. Then I went to Eloy. The Square2 pro shop there had demos that I could jump. They had G3's and Phantom X's and Bennies.. So naturally I tried out a G3. Found the right size for me and then - I hated it. So I tried a PhantomX. Then I tried the G3 again and compared the two. I personally chose the PhantomX, but you might find that a G3 works for you... or a Factory Diver or any one of the numerous helmets that are available. This is my long-winded way of saying hey, try different ones out first. Get what's right for YOU. :-)

So the flag will likely be presented vertically? Just make sure you don't take a horizontal patch and turn it 90 degrees clockwise. It's a pet peeve of mine.. Not really because of "disrespect" but because it shows ones ignorance of proper display. In this day and age where you can simply google anything and have an answer within 20 seconds, there is no excuse. ETA You can find an example of both disrespect AND ignorance HERE

Boulder to almost FOCO.. That's a pretty long haul there. I haven't seen too many paragliders around Lookout Mtn as of late.
-
I havent picked up a "real" hitchhiker in years.. BUT... Here in Colorado there are always backcountry skiers that REALLY appreciate the ride back to the summit. And unless I'm jam-packed I almost ALWAYS give them a lift up. That's good karma there. I mean, I have a rack and everything so why not? A couple of years ago I picked up two guys along the highway between Golden and Boulder - obviously sportsmen of some kind - with these huge backpacks. Turns out they were paragliders who started off at Lookout Mountain and "caught a great thermal and tried to ride it all the way to Boulder but didn't quite make it"..

I am one cheeseburger away from upsizing my canopy.

I am surprised no-one has mentinoed yet - but we're all grown ups here and know that beds have two legitimate uses, so they had better be suitable for both... that being said, the tempur-pedic mattresses don't have the same "energy return" if you will. Spring mattresses have that bounce, whereas foam mattresses absorb the energy. Think of the commercials with the glass of wine and bowling ball. I'm not saying one is better than the other - but with a Tempur-pedic, be prepared to have to "relearn" a few things... And that might not be necessarily bad.

Congratulations and welcome :-) -
I too was, and still am, mesmerised by Norah Jones' ways. She could lullabye me to sleep at night any day. Ever. I had the opportunity to see Ms. Jones live at the Alte Opera in Frankfurt back in 2004 when I had just been stationed to Germany, but didn't take advantage - I wanted to be nice and wait until my wife got there to go see. Of course, I am divorced now but Norah Jones is still an angel. I will never forgive myself.
