  1. While at the dz this past weekend I overheard someone mention being able to choose the aircraft you want to jump from while at manifest. The super otter is primarily flown, however there are two cesnas as well. Here's my Q...should an AFF student who starts jumping from the otter at some point during her progression try the cessna, (while she has an instructor present), or should she wait until she is out of her student status? For the record, I have never been in any aircraft other than the fabulous dehaviland super otter at this point..and those cessna babies look awfully tiny!(but the idea of hanging from the wing gives me a funny tickle in my belly that makes me wanna try it soon!)
  2. *&%$#@ : who :cares Worked all day and night Sat. Sunday was the most beautiful day!!! Mid seventies, bright blue skies, barely any wind. So off to the dz...I arrive, manifest with 2 of the most awesome AFF guys a gal could ask for..so there I am sitting, chit chatting with people packing, I lean my head against the chair and say "wow, that breeze feels nice". Well that %$#@$&ing breeze cost me my jump #3! The winds picked up for a bit, students were put on a hold and by the time the students ahead of me got to jump I had to leave to go to work. *tear*. I was so ready this time too. Here it is the most beautiful day. I feel like such a whuffo. I need to quit my jobs I think. On a more positive note I got to spend the day with a lot of really cool people I hadn't seen in a while. A bunch of people came up to me and said " where ya been??". That felt good.
  3. Get well soon my PPG sis!
  4. We need to hang out some time, chicky. I promise you, you would not want to fall asleep.
  5. I plead the fifth...but I am a lot fun to watch at a bar.
  6. Yes, but can you tie two cherry stems together with your tongue?
  7. Sunny doesn't seem to like chocolate that much. How I envy her.
  8. One of those pickle forks would work quite well too.
  9. the mini oreos can be quite addicting as well. Nothing sucks more than losing half of your oreo in the milk and then having to fish it out.
  10. mmm..oreos dunked in milk..yummy.
  11. I wondered this too. Last year when I started AFF I began on a ripcord. This year all of the student gear has been switched over to a BOC. I am actually much more comfortable with doing things this way. The old cutaway procedure was of course more simple to understand, esp for new students..but I am happier learning this new way now as a student rather than switching over after becoming comfortable with one way that I will never see again after AFF.
  12. Mr. Do!! How could I forget Mr. Do!! Gosh, we even nicknamed our kitty that after becoming addicted to that game!Blackjack..yup. Learned to play blackjack like a pro with Ken (the dealer) when I was 7. The 007 James Bond game..loved that one..Pepper!, Frogger, of course...ah the memories..

    Gas Prices.

1.51 midgrade. Used to cost $12 to fill my car; over the winter it was $20. The other day it was $16 here in New England. *sigh*.
  18. I put my feet up on my filing cabinet. No, it is not allowed, but I do it anyway. I just drop them to the floor when my boss walks in.

    High/Low

High: After months of planning finally purchasing my vacation plane tickets.
  20. ...and I am a redhead! Rolling Rock is the beer of choice at my workplace. Ah..memories of last summer; long hard working days and the gang pooling together with a case of rolling rock to split. Sad part was when I made the beer run one night to the store across the street, they ID'd me. When I realized I didn't have my ID on me I handed them my business card and said I am Kate I work at yayaya..and they said "oh, ok, you're fine!" Then there was the time I had the last cold beer in my hand on a hot summer night. I held it above my head, yelled "who wants it!!", and whoosh! swung my arm and smashed it open (and all over me) on the lift behind me. They wanted to kill me. Ah. Rolling Rock.
  21. What an absolutely horrible story. No pun intended?
  22. No, I totally agree. I just threw the internet in there as an option, but I guess it is a big difference, esp. how you put it. Wow. That is a different thread all in itself. Just seems lately people are more down on themselves. I also work with a 17 year old kid who has a huge scar across his head, pretty much from ear to ear. I asked him if he is growing his hair out because it is getting longer, and he said only until Sunday...??? Prom is Sat night, his friend set him up with a girl, and he doesn't want her to see his scar. Interesting..I have always felt that I am more attractive because of the person that I am, more so than my physical appearance. Also I have known many physically attractive people that lost their luster after seeing what is going on inside... Personally flaws do not matter..actually, they make people seem more real to me. Honesty is very attractive.
  23. Here is an interesting question to ponder. Say you meet someone, not in person. The internet, over the phone, whatever. You get along very well with this person; you laugh, just an all over feel good connection. It is obvious that this is a great person with their head screwed on fairly straight. When you meet this person, you discover they have a physical difference. Would that difference affect the way you felt about them? At work, I have been speaking with a district rep for a few months and we have always gotten along very well. Today we finally met in person. She had obviously been burned severely at some point in her life because her face was badly scarred. As were her hands. I also noticed that she is not married. I started to wonder if people are really that shallow to reject her because of her physical appearance. Here is a beautiful woman with a beautiful personality…but burned. Personally, it would not affect how I feel for someone, but I wonder. If you connected with someone and they turned out to have physical flaw, would you accept them for that and love them despite or would it affect the way you felt for them?
