Nice! I had of pair of those but they are since gone. They did last about 10 years! Love the sheepskin in mine too. And that they're slip on. I'm just a lazy girl at heart.

Thanks sweetie. These are very warm. And they work well since I have to take the garbage OUTSIDE into the snow. I can wear them out there, brush them off, take them off and leave them at the door and they're clean and dry in no time. I just have these rather large PINK feet. Wish they had another colour in my size .. Oh well. Warm and fashionable don't necessarily belong together. 'Shell

Real Mukluks are OUTDOOR shoes (I made a pair in school - wish I still had them). My cartoon feet are INDOOR shoes. Your picture are socks with a sole. You could wear them outdoors here but not for long! BTW -- love ya Zing!

So, it's has been COLD here for about 2 weeks. And I have been rather cold because I have hardwood and lino throughout my main floor. And my slippers have become a favourite toy for my dog (he doesn't tear them apart but he does put them in his toy box with his other chew toys and won't let me take them back). So I broke down and bought the most RIDONKULOUS looking pair of shoes ever. They are slip on Crocs with a sheepskin lining. Yes, I look STUPID in them but I am also VERY WARM. I like my cartoon feet ....

Sorry for the hijack, Bigway ... ladyskydiver - Do you have any experience with pets and Elk Velvet? I only know what I've heard (that it works for pets with arthritis and hip problems) and what I've seen (with my friend's Lab - and that it worked for him) and a few others. I'm curious if it's a common therapy everywhere or just common here (in Alberta). I know a lot of people that swear by it for their pets. I recommended that Bigway try it for his little girl because of how it worked for friends of mine. Any thoughts??? I have a purebred Boxer (white) and there's always "talk" that they experience hip dysplasia (and other health issues). 'Shell

You're feeling sad because you love her. If my dog were going through the same thing, I'd be as sad as you are. My dog is part of my "family". He's my little buddy. He's not just a "dog". He's probably better cared for than most people are. And I know about "people" going through hip replacements. My dad had one 12 years ago. My baba (grandmother) had one when she was 90. My dad is now going on 75 and his hip is fine. So is my Baba's. And she's going to be 96 this year. But now they both have bad knees. Go figure. So do I. My dad said that the pain from the hip replacement was significant. But it was a "different" kind of pain. A better kind. That he could work through. I hope it's the same for you puppito.

WFFC asking -- would you go to WFFC 2008?
Shell666 replied to chango's topic in Events & Places to Jump
Probably to increased water usage and increased natural gas usage (for showers - which we all love!), port-o-potties, garbage removal, etc. etc. I don't have a problem paying a registration fee. Especially when you factor in that $20 to $25 over a 5 to 10 day period. Cheaper than camping. AND you're camping with friends! And don't we provide our own entertainment??? I think the jumpers will "go" where it's convenient for them (for the most part) and IF they have the vacation time to do so. For me, living in Western Canada and driving to the Eastern US is not an option during July and August. I have LP to go to AND I have limited vacation time in the summer. 'Shell -
You're not old. Just being smart. I would LOVE that set. But I have a nice little front loader that's only 3 years old. And I'm very happy with it. If you haven't had a front loader before, be careful with the soap! My little one uses about a tablespoon per load. Had I read the instructions BEFORE I used it, I would have saved myself an extra 3 rinse loads the first time! 'Shell

I've, also, got a question on this statement. Hip dysplasia is a genetic issue caused by a loose joint(s) and can be treated surgically in a variety of methods. An injury is something different. Did your vet explain which it is? I am jumping the gun a bit but xrays are nto till wednesday. I trust this vet, there is something about him that makes me support him. He was very concerned straight away. Have you looked into "Elk Velvet" for her? (google it, there are tons of articles about it). A friend of mine had an older Lab that was in constant pain from his hips (granted he was a LOT older than your little pup so it could have been arthiritis and not hip dysplasia) but he started feeding him elk velvet and within a few months, he was running around like a puppy again. It might be worth considering in the interim. Good luck with her! She is a CUTIE!

Dang it! Quicker Ways to Thaw a Huge Turkey??
Shell666 replied to ACMESkydiver's topic in The Bonfire
From this website http://homecooking.about.com/od/turkeyrecipes/r/blturkey5.htm To thaw turkey in cold water: Make certain that the turkey is in a leakproof package or a zipper-seal plastic bag. This prevents bacteria in the surrounding environment from being introduced into the food, and prevents the poultry tissues from absorving water, resulting in a watery product. Change the cold water every 30 minutes. Approximately 30 minutes per pound of turkey are required for thawing. After thawing in cold water, the turkey should be cooked immediately. 'Shell -
Firefox. I don't know how the browser would make a difference. Because IE doesn't have it. Maybe - just thinkin' - ya know - CAPTIAN OBVIOUS! I went through a period when I had a lot of free time, so I used the standard internet virus collection software. Eventually, the amusement waned and I started using Firefox, so I can't remember all the dysfunctions of the old software. You can turn off the spell check in your Preferences for Firefox. If it bugs you that much! 'Shell
