My DZ had about 30 canopies to choose from as far as rental, but on AFF, we all started on PD 290s - non-collapsable pilot chute, non-collapsable slider. The containers varied, but they were all old. If a person was smaller, they might get a smaller main. Now that I'm an experienced jumper, I feel like that old student gear was damn dangerous! Old, outdated, lots of jumps, poor-fitting, etc. However, all student rigs had Cypres (if this is not already a requirement, it probably should be). Trapped on the surface of a sphere. XKCD

bicycle = 2 wheels. Bi=2. Cycle=circular motion. Nothin' 'bout motorcycle implies two wheels, other than our limited imaginations. Now, I'll just head off to Detroit and show them my blueprints for the powered unicycle Probably already been done. Trapped on the surface of a sphere. XKCD

If all four wheels have independent suspension, then you should be able to lean into a turn easily enough. But if more than one wheel is being powered, you would need some sort of constant velocity joint to make sure that one tire isn't dragged. Trapped on the surface of a sphere. XKCD

Congrats DJan! I just called Roberta to make sure you were still planning on teaching the AFF class on Saturday and she said you were. Keith, myself and Dano are planning on sitting in on it for the coaching requirement, if you don't mind. Trapped on the surface of a sphere. XKCD

I love this stuff. I'm a "real" skydiver and I'm terrified of heights. Especially cliffs. Someday, I will base jump

You silly humans make me laugh. Don't worry - it may not appeal to your good sense, but we'll get used to it. In a few generations, it will be considered normal. After all, we use dead people's body parts now. Does that seem normal to you? I'm sure when they started doing that, a lot of people thought it was bad too. Trapped on the surface of a sphere. XKCD

OTOH - if the titty bar goes well, you've got yourself a keeper. Trapped on the surface of a sphere. XKCD

I've always had good luck with Continental too. Even great service with International flights, unlike some other airlines, *cough*United*cough*. Trapped on the surface of a sphere. XKCD

That's one of my pet peeves too, but I always feel like a dork for correcting people. Why is it that people end up saying exactly the opposite of what they mean? If you could care less, you would, right? Trapped on the surface of a sphere. XKCD

To be fair, I wouldn't call Clinton a liberal. Just because you're a Democrat doesn't make you a liberal. Al Gore, yes. Trapped on the surface of a sphere. XKCD

Ha - I did most of my jumps in Eloy in shorts and T. It wasn't too bad at 13K. Trapped on the surface of a sphere. XKCD

1:17:0 Didn't buy any beer - it was provided 17 jumps - a lazy but fun week 1 kiss from Skykat on New Year's

You forgot to mention that reporters often "get stuck" coming up with a story that can compete with other "newsworthy" items, and are therefore hard-pressed to make it sound exciting as it could be. Ergo, let's make things up, shall we? But it's not entirely their fault. We are a society that lives our lives through the Hollywood vision - there needs to be a car chase or sex scene every five minutes to keep it interesting. And if reporters actually took the time to explore the facts and report them accurately, well that wouldn't exactly sell, would it? Trapped on the surface of a sphere. XKCD

Who got sick after Eloy? I came from nice warm weather and great jumping to cold temperatures in Denver, and now I have the sniffles and crud. Trapped on the surface of a sphere. XKCD

Got stranded once in Los Angeles for THREE DAYS on the way to New Zealand. United has ONE flight a day from LA to Auckland and weather made us miss our connecting flight the first day. They had to get the rest of us out over the next three days, and they refused to get us on another airline. United sucks. Also, the Australians were making the biggest ruckus over it, so they put them on the first flights the next day. The poor lame Americans and Kiwis were shuffled to the last loads. I hate LA. I hate United. Trapped on the surface of a sphere. XKCD

I think it was George Carlin, not Castanza that said this. Trapped on the surface of a sphere. XKCD

I don't think we should count solo sex - otherwise we would also have to count dreams about skydiving. Then my numbers would look like: 230:28:0 Trapped on the surface of a sphere. XKCD

And it's supposed to snow in Colorado. After a week of jumping at Eloy in warm weather, that really sucks. Trapped on the surface of a sphere. XKCD

3:0:0 Got enough jumping in Eloy to satisfy me for now. Plus, I don't exactly want to jump in Colorado weather after the balmy southern Arizona climes (yes, that was me jumping in shorts and t-shirt in Eloy ). AND I have a TON of work to catch up on. Trapped on the surface of a sphere. XKCD

Err - let's see: 1. Sony Viao laptop - p4, 1.7 gHz, 16" screen, XP. 2. IBM Thinkpad - p3, 800 MHz, 14", Win 2000 server. 3, 4, 5. three home-built stand-ups - couple of redhat linux machines (486 66 and P Pro 150) and one Win2000 server (K6-2 450). 6. One or two that need to be fixed. Trapped on the surface of a sphere. XKCD

RealPlayer sucks. Unless you like to be spammed with ads, requests for updates and begging for money. Even then it sucks. Trapped on the surface of a sphere. XKCD
