  1. Not knowing wingsuits that well, do these numbers sound plausible? 22MPH vertical AND 60 MPH horizontal? Seems like there's no way to achieve those numbers simultaneously in a wingsuit. Trapped on the surface of a sphere. XKCD
  2. I live in Colorado because I grew up here. Most of the people that I know who moved here did so because they or their parents got a job here. A handful of people I know moved here for the natural beauty. All of those people moved to the mountains for the peace and quiet. I live in the city of Denver. It's noisy, polluted and dirty. I don't expect open space and natural settings here in the city. I'm not going on a rampage trying to get all the hospitals to move away from me. Or the fire departments. Or the traffic. I bought my house with understanding of what it entailed. You are free to move to the mountains (if you can afford it. I can't). There is a lot of peace and quiet there. That's probably part of the reason why it's so expensive. Asking everyone you don't like to move away from you, after you moved there, is the height of narcissism. Especially if they were there before you came. Trapped on the surface of a sphere. XKCD
  3. I disagree with how they concluded "homosexual tendencies". They used visual subliminal message techniques, which have been widely discredited as junk. Trapped on the surface of a sphere. XKCD
  4. I am hetero, but you just described my childhood. For me, that makes your theory B.S. Trapped on the surface of a sphere. XKCD
  5. What I hate is when they are looking for investors, and say things like "110 MPH", "700 MPG" and most importantly "ready by 2014". Yeah, right The only thing that looks promising, from the pictures, is that hangar space will be relatively cheap. Trapped on the surface of a sphere. XKCD
  6. It's even sadder that I can't contribute numbers. It's kinda been that way since I had kids Hopefully things will improve as the blue skies come back to the northern hemisphere. Trapped on the surface of a sphere. XKCD
  7. Very true. Having previously owned (and used) a Raven-2 reserve, I know there is no such checkbox system on those. Trapped on the surface of a sphere. XKCD
  8. Probably should ask a rigger, but I know on PD Reserves, there are 20 checkboxes. After it's either been used or packed 20 times, they expect you to replace it. I don't know if it's required or not, according to the PD literature. Trapped on the surface of a sphere. XKCD
  9. Ahem. Humps? Beer? Trapped on the surface of a sphere. XKCD
  10. There are riggers that will repack that. Burn that butt all the way to the end - the damn things are expensive, so get every penny out of them! Trapped on the surface of a sphere. XKCD
  11. Silver/Red Wolf, looking for a Gold Falcon so we can go out and kick some maroon panda butt. I notice there are quite a few of use here. I like the pack idea, but I don't want to share my Gold Falcon with anyone. Trapped on the surface of a sphere. XKCD

  15. I still work for crap, and right now it's a big mess. I've really been wanting to run, but I've had to suck it up the last few years. I've got a hot exit strategy; I'm taking my shit to Fun Air Research Technology. I've heard working there is a gas. Trapped on the surface of a sphere. XKCD
  16. You should try having a five-year old and three-year old girl at home. You're entire life will sparkle! In more ways than one Trapped on the surface of a sphere. XKCD

  21. Dude who owned the house before you had a dog and hunted. He gave the bones of the deer to his dog, who buried them in the backyard. Trapped on the surface of a sphere. XKCD
  22. Looks like he was trying to get the pigeons off the roofs. Little fuckers crap all over everything. After a successful mission, pilot decides to celebrate with a "snow chopper". It's like a snow angel, but with rotor blades instead of arms and legs. Trapped on the surface of a sphere. XKCD
  23. Conceptually, it may be sound, but physically, it is not. And if that doesn't convince you, the entire character in the video is a fake. Of course, I'm not happy to report this, because I would love for it to be true! Maybe I should just learn to buy into other's delusions. I think I would be happier for longer periods of time. Trapped on the surface of a sphere. XKCD
  24. Lovecraft was a racist, of course, and his prose is beautiful. But considering his family life and relationship with his mother, he could have just as easily become Norman Bates. Trapped on the surface of a sphere. XKCD
