  1. pulling up a chair for this one
  2. Oh oh.. Gunny Gibbs is gonna be peeved. Sounds like McGee is gonna be looking for a new job soon. While I love that show, holy crap do they break a lot of laws to get their guy.
  3. check ACE hardware. thats where i found mine
  4. I poked at Spot a little to see if he had any info on this one. Still waiting to hear back. Busy times. Jason
  5. http://www.engadget.com/2014/09/03/sony-action-cam-mini/?ncid=rss_truncated Well does anybody *cough* DSE *cough* have any info on the new model? Particularly if the vibration is still there.
  6. Interesting story. Wonder how all those people who use semi-stowless bags don't have the same problem as you on every jump? Line extension has nothing to do with a hard opening. Usually its the slider. As explained by a rigger to me the technical definition of line dump is when there is a lack of tension in the lines when they are un-stowing. As per the OP, my first job on the dz was as a packer on weekends. Having been one and knowing myself pretty well, I never trust packers .
  7. I have a few jumps on Aerodyne 350 and a lot on Icarus 330. The Icarus is better IMO hands down. Opens great, lots of glide, light toggle pressure. It flares like an Icarus also meaning you need to get the brakes pretty deep in order to get the most out of the flare. The Aerodyne flew ok, just seemed sluggish to me. Heavy on toggles without a lot of response. I would rather fly a ragged out Icarus over an Aerodyne. However I would take a sigmaII 340 over all others
  8. http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=aa6_1407249013 anybody else seen this video? Rockets being set up right outside the reporters hotel window.
  9. not quite LA but skydive taft would be the place for sure.
  10. The video posted above proves your point perfectly. Protecting your handles is AFF lvl 1 shit. However most Open division FS skydivers use 2 pillows, mainly due to a lot of vertical work, its easy for a foot or rig to dislodge a ring. All of my rigs except my first one have had small rings. I have heard people say they have no problem pulling a pillow, however I challenge people to have their left hand get pinched/smashed on an exit, then have to pull that pillow during an emergency procedure.
  11. http://www.cbsnews.com/news/report-82-shot-14-killed-in-chicago-4th-of-july-weekend-shootings/ not all in one place, but all in the same city with uber strict gun laws.
  12. If you are on a "serious" FS team, image quality can make a difference in viewing grips in slow motion, meaning points can be made or broken with higher resolution video. With the FTP I never had good luck mounting a hyp-eye under the plate as the way its shape. It doesn't mount well from underneath leaving only the button exposed. I tried tape, gasket maker, zip ties. Nothing held the buttons securely in place they always sank back into the helmet. In my FTP I used cam-eyes with an adapter to work in the cx series cameras. However the adapter I had was a poor one. When using it if you spun the adapter when it was plugged in you lost contact and the indicator light would go out.
  13. My first suggestion is to rethink the cx series. I would suggest going with the sony hdr-as100. smaller lighter, and removes the need for a hypeye. The fov is adjustable but you will need to fly a little closer than say a cx with a .5 lens. Make no mistake the type of lens you are flying will make a huge difference in the video quality as well as what is in frame. Make sure to use a HD lens or else why use the cx in the first place . And no Royal, and Liquid are not hd lens. (sorry sidetrack). However if you are dead set on using the cx setup, It depends if you are using a flat top pro or a vapor pro. The vapor has a much larger plate, so you have more room to play. Another advantage to the Vapor is the upper portion can house the hyp-eye without disturbing the padding inside the helmet. This would put the buttons high and on the sides of the helmet. This would also prevent you from mistaking one button for the other. The flat top pro has a smaller plate so I mounted mine under the plate with just the button exposed in the front under and in front of the lens. I have used both FTP and Vapor before. If you have questions just PM me.
  14. Hope this helps. You left out a huge chunk of info. What are the rounds used for? Hunting? Plinking? 3gun Comp? Longer range? Self Defense? eta: wrong pic
  15. So explain why the USA has by far the highest homicide rate of any nation with a similar culture and similar state of economic development. Are you SURE it's because the USA has a higher % of its population with murderous tendencies? The fact that the US has the highest rate of gun ownership among these nations doesn't occur to you as a possibility? It is simple . . . too many liberals. Jesus H Christ Turtle... is that your pat answer for everything bad you can imagine in life??? Tell me again what conservatives have ever done to advance humankind... got anything substantial??? And just what is it that Conservatives conserve??? You mean besides Republicans voting to end slavery in this country, while the Democrats voted against it http://www.greatamericanhistory.net/amendment.htm As a matter of fact, although passed in April 1864 by the Senate, with a vote of 38 to 6, the required two-thirds majority was defeated in the House of Representatives by a vote of 93 to 65. Abolishing slavery was almost exclusively a Republican party effort--only four Democrats voted for it.
  16. Correct. It's more like 250,000 EACH YEAR. That a whole lot of legal gun owners who are doing a piss-poor job of safeguarding their lethal weapons. IMO if you own a gun you are obliged to safeguard it from criminals. Leaving it in a gun rack in the back window of your truck is gross negligence. I would like to see the statistics of automobiles stolen in the US. Stolen vehicles that are then used as a tool to commit crime, or used as a joyride that then ends in damage to property or injury/death. Are owners of a vehicle that is used in a crime held liable for what somebody else does in or with said vehicle? All this talk about how guns are "evil tools of death and destruction", but nobody says the same thing about cars?
  17. yes, they are identical in size. Battery location and cover are different. As well as the Viso II being water resistant.
  18. I have flown crossfire down to a 99, a Neos 89 and 84, and velo 96 and my current 84. The Neos does not have the same predictable openings like a velo or crossfire. They are generally snivel about the same as a velo, but IMO they are much more prone to crazy openings. The Neos dives a lot harder than a crossfire but not as hard as a velo. If you are coming back after a year off and are looking specifically for soft openings, its very hard to beat a crossfire. J
  19. How good is the microphone while in the housing for tandem interviews? Will an external mic be needed?
  20. Typical Government crap. That's why you never tell them anything. All it will do is get you into trouble.
  21. Anything like this? http://www.nbcnews.com/business/business-news/wind-farms-can-kill-eagles-without-penalty-f2D11702834 I guess, it's ok because it's 'green'? Chuck Here is a great explanation with sources to back up claims http://freedominfonet.net/truth-blm-bundy-ranch-dispute-explained/ eta: Hard to trust any government agency whose only oversight is the POTUS.
  22. One of SDCs Caravans has auto-pilot and its de-icing. It was previously a FedEx plane. And yes I have seen it in use.
