No, this little tidbit got overshadowed by the recent festivities in Boston. A building in Bangladesh fell down, it was full of women and children, forced into the building by their employer: Whalmart, Calvin, Tommy, etc,. This particular company touts itself as providing the "quality" "American Designer" Brands have come to expect! Rumor has it if any of the employees were caught stealing clothing, that was then later resold on ebay, they then had either their eys put out or their children were put to death or mutilated in front of them. I'm not makin this up... Unfortunatly my sources , or better said, you wont find any conformation of this from a Murdock media news organization....nor the BBC although the BBC did cover the building falling down. Oh' they knew the building was in the process of falling down in advance...The girls and children were trying to leave the building, some even refused to enter...but it's kind of hard to "just say no to a [baseball] bat." I also asked this same question, or better said made that same point,... The lead time is a little long,...are you loosing customers? With a kind of a grin that same individual also said the same answere!!! Their doors (UPT'S) are always open to anyone who wants a tour of the "largest" sport parachuting "manufacturer in the world." They do have a lot of "demand." I wan't also to point out in my dealings with manufacturers they have shown me, on numerous occasions, that they are so far ahead of everyone else as far as customer service and attention, there really isn't any comparison. Quite simply the best service I have ever seen! And no I don't work for them... I also want to point out my first rig was a Racer, my second rig was also a Racer but I gave it away ten years ago for medical reasons, so I never got to jump it! And in all fairness the racer was more comfortable than my V3, but again with all the padding an the V3 it's pretty damnn comfy!!

I actually asked this question, in the factory, in person, like in the last few days,... "Our customers have no issue waiting for the best,..." They do have a few Camo Rigs for basically immediate shipment left,... not sure of sizes available. I think someone should point out the stupidity of making the statment about "CRAMMING" an oversized canopy into a rig, it is precisly why UPT won't engage with Mr. Sherman about a very real issue that is causing fatals each year! And that is once again you users of the equipment make these stupid remarks again and again, and the manufacturer's can't and are unable to control what the user does after it leaves the factory. You are an ass if you put both a full fitting reserve and main in a containeer! Your just ignorant if you put in even a larger than reccommended, I'm contiually amazed by this behavior???? As Krisanne points out this is a great article, but my point is that the alleged research and many points in the same article are a little dramatic. Mypoint is that what passes for research, isn't research, other than opinion's supported by asking people what they think! This is not research. In fact many activities humans undertake have an insanly ironic death rate, I think Polo, or swimming, or tennis, etc,...BUT these activities don't make worldwide headlines either! Consideering the amount of skydiving that takes place compared to all of the many activities humans do, skydiving is all in all very safe, (not for the unlucky 50 or so that get wacked.) But that dosent mean we let up on safety, there are so many of us that want to drill and drill safety, perhaps because we are still here and yet we all know someone close that we have seen burn in??? I don't know,...I just want to go to bed at night and never see again what I have seen in the past.... But what do I know, "I only have one tandem jump."

With all due respect,...competition? Price fixing is more like it. Proving this is another matter, but trust me there's not a lot of competition in this secondary market. Now if you want to speak about competition in the industry as far as container / canopy issues, now that there's real competition! The DoD report describes competition as being insanly cutthrought! If there was true competition we would have a USA brand! Instead we have a few american hopefulls selling their wares on ebay (that the skydiving community dosen't even know they exsist.) Liberty has undergone sweeping revisions from the days that the Constitution was framed to involve citizen participation. Theere's nothing like being in the middle of an earthquake, thousands dead around you, and the local Militia, (Government) looting resources, watching what has unfolded in the name of protecting the very citizens has this scarey but unfamiliar ring to it. Also consider that if we use the conservative figures the NHTSB uses of 60,000 people dead on our highways each year, that means during this manhunt of 2 days,...329 people died on our "safe" roads and streets, that our government does nothing about! The cost for this show in Boston is already estimated at about 40 million, (Boston Globe) I guess it's a question of priorities... Sorry to be so cryptic on occasion, just trying to promote awarness, but I've noticed everyone is happier with a simple stereotypical comment, but alas "simple quick answeres are part of the issue." The one that Janet N has currently postponed, to allow it to build up steam, in order that "Homeland" security can obtain More funding! 60,000 or more, no one really knows, individuals are going to die in 2013 due to car wrecks, a half a million people in the US are going to die because they don't have access to basic medical care, and a million or more individuals are going to die and suffer caused by air pollution because we are dependent upon those with deep pockets. And yet as sad as it may be for those involved in this sensless stupidity in Boston, BILLIONS ARE BEING SPENT in what may prove to be a waste of money to fight an "enemy" that is unstopable! No one is defending the constitution anymore, special interests have taken over, and yet they want more control of our civil liberties. Is this the"obvious" you were speaking about? If you take this thread out of Gear and Rigging and put it in the swooping section perhaps yo would have recived a different response. There are not a lot of individuals that jump various canopies week in and week out. But those individuals that have jumped many, many different canopies on an ongoing basis are and can be found teaching canopy control courses most week ends. But if yo do it here yo might get a few people to respond that are not aware of your fame and worldwide ability...
