    Skyventure

In fact, here is how bad it is there. Tunnelcamp.com (Airspeed and Skyventure partnership) is holding a Freefly camp there starting March 21. They went to book the time for it six weeks ago, that's roughly 9 weeks out, and the only time they could get was in the middle of the night. Camp runs from 10pm, all night long. I think adding another tunnel right there is a great idea!

    NOOOOO!!!

This SUCKS! We have not had a jumpable day over the last 2 weekends. The forecast for this whole weekend looked like crap. But, what do you know, the sun starts peeking through the clouds and...what's that? Blue skies! And the winds are perfect. So we call manifest to see what it's like there (about 15 miles away so our hopes are up). "Are you getting any loads up?" we ask. "Well, we would be if we had a pilot" comes the reply. The pilot decided not to come down because the forecast looked so bad. This is so WRONG! Sure, she told him to come down tomorrow, but shall we take bets on what the weather will look like tomorrow?
  3. This is basically what is done at my DZ as well, although the execution is slightly different. However, having used these many times, I can tell you that I have in fact had trouble hearing over wind noise at least once. Well, couple wind noise with student who hasn't been told how to collapse the slider, so it was pretty noisy. Still, I think it's a great solution. I guess my only question now that you mention it is the snag hazard...on ours, there is an antenna that sticks out of the pocket. Never really considered the implications of that.
  4. Great! And am I spending any of my money supporting Pat Robertson? I know that everyone is on edge about this whole thing, but I was talking about magazine subscriptions, nothing more, nothing less! Give me a break, please! I'm not trying to start something about the war, or how we are handling things, or anything along those lines! I get enough of that crap at work, I'm sick of talking about it, that's not what I was trying to do (which is why I don't read or participate in any of those sorts of threads here either). No matter my position on the war, I still do not have any support for Saddam and do not wish to spend my money helping to fill his bank account. That is what my point is. And yeah, I realize that by using my car to drive to work I am indirectly supporting it as well, but not like I have a whole hell of a lot of choice there. We are car pooling as we can, but that's about the best I can do. BUT, a magazine subscription is an easy choice that I can make. It is not a necessity, and if it in any way supports Saddam, I am more than happy to cancel it.
  5. Thanks for checking. I wasn't sure where to find the stockholder information online, and I kind of figured it would turn out to be untraceable anyway. All I did was a news search to see if any media had picked it up, and I can't find any. If I get any more information on it I'll pass it along. And for Lummy, sure, everyone is entitled to get rich, but personally, I don't want my money going directly into Saddam's pocket. Sorry, just how I feel.
  6. Does anyone know of a way to confirm this report I found? I haven't found a reference that links the two names in any of the national media, and the site I got this from doesn't list his reference. Very interested because I subscribe to one of the magazines, and if it is true, I would like to cancel my subscription. Thanks! Ever heard of Lagardere SCA? No? Well maybe because it’s a French company. OK .. have you ever heard of Hachette Filipacchi Media U.S.? Probably not, but Hachette Filipacchi publishes some magazines you may have heard of. Those magazines would be Elle, Car & Driver, Women’s Day and others. Now it’s getting familiar, isn’t it? OK, so we have Car & Driver which is published by Hachette Filipacchi which is owned by Lagardere SCA which is a French Corporation. So .. are we finished here? No, not quite. It seems that a man who has been the news quite a bit of late owns around two percent of Lagardere SCA. About $90 million dollars worth. His name? Saddam Hussein.
  7. Okay, for those who missed it last time, I am trying to get this job at the Anheuser Busch brewery. Aside from the obvious perks (free BEER!), it's also much closer to my house than where I work now, and the benefits are exceptional, much better than what I currently have (did I mention I hate my job?). Anyway, for those who sent vibes last time, thank you. There is progress. Last time I applied for it, it was an internal company posting only. I thought I'd give it a try anyway, I mean, FREE beer and all. I never heard anything back, so I sort of forgot about it. Well, it seems they didn't find a suitable internal candidate, so it's now an external posting, which means I really have a shot at it. I'm about to submit my resume. So, any good vibes you can send my way would be most appreciated! It seemed to have helped before, let's try it again! Thanks!

    why Zeemax?

Well, my last name is Moon, and Luna is Spanish for Moon...so there you go. No, I don't really speak Spanish (except for a few years of it in high school and college that I don't really remember), but I guess it sounded cool, and I couldn't come up with anything else. 9. Yes, this has brought the Challenger accident rushing back as well. I was in 8th grade, living right near Johnson Space Center (Mission Control) just south of Houston. There was a girl one grade ahead of me whose father was on Challenger. Living in that area of town it hit us very hard. We were all brought together to watch the launch, as well, and it is still hard to remember. I just can't believe that it has happened again. My thoughts and prayers go out to all affected by this tragedy. Still praying that nobody on the ground was seriously injured by the falling debris. Cant wait....

Cool! Hey, if you need a test subject to try it out, Pick Me! The weather looks really good for this weekend!
  11. As an example of what Real TV does for us, I had a co-worker ask me today if you cutaway and pulled reserve at 300 feet, would it open. He said he asked because he saw footage on Real TV of a first jumper who did just that because he was heading for some trees. And he said that they made it sound like he had reserve problems as well. I think he thought it was faked or something, because he didn't believe it would open that quickly. Well, I guess some whuffos have a little bit of sense, no thanks to Real TV! New Parachutist

Yes, you are right, first thing in Parachutist, so I do owe beer, of course. I knew that was coming. I'm walking a marathon to raise money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Click Here for more information!

    New Parachutist

Yeah, I bet! Well, since many of you seem to be postally challenged (I got mine Thursday, what's up?), I used Lolie's prompting to finally get me to install my new scanner (old one bit the dust a while back). So, here it is, in all it's glory (keep in mind, this comes from an article about how to prevent hard openings!): I'm walking a marathon to raise money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. New Parachutist

Okay, I don't know if I should really admit to this or not, but if you look on page 35 of the new Parachutist, the 2nd picture from the top is a pic of my first pack job. I think Jim made a couple of minor tweaks to make it look worse, but believe me he didn't have to do much. So, any advice for me? I guess that's why you should practice a lot before actually jumping one (which I still haven't done yet, stupid ZP! ) I'm walking a marathon to raise money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. 17. Well, things are about to pick up. According to www.stephenking.com (the Official web site), as of Oct. 15 of 2002 these are the tentative publication dates for the rest of the series: Volume 5, Wolves of the Calla in September of 2003 Volume 6, Song of Susannah in November of 2003 Volume 7, The Dark Tower in March of 2004 You can also go here to read the Prologue for Volume 5. speaking of PM's?

"Can you imagine fifty people a day, I said FIFTY people a day walking in, singing a bar of Alice's Restaurant and walking out, and friends, they may think it's a movement. And that's what it is, the Alice's Restaurant Anti-Massacre movement." Alice's Restaurant by Arlo Guthrie Have to listen to it every Thanksgiving! What do I win? Good Vibes Please!

Okay, I'm putting in a resume tomorrow for a new job. Not only would it get me out of the hellhole I've been in for 3 1/2 long years, it would totally rock! It is at Anheuser-Busch brewery, and one of the bennies is something like 4-6 cases of FREE BEER a month! So, if nothing else, send good vibes for my fellow skydivers at my club who would greatly benefit from my newfound "wealth" since, I'm ashamed to say, I don't like beer. I DO like alcohol, don't get me wrong, just not in the form of beer. Anyway, the job would also shave around an hour off my commuting time every day, which is yet another huge plus for me. Thanks for the vibes, and I'll let you know how it works out. I'm walking a marathon to raise money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Click Here for more information!
  21. It was good to see you, Travis! I'm happy that you got to jump today. They really know how to take care of you out there, huh? It's a really great bunch of people. Hope I see you out again soon! Don't wait two months this time! I'm walking a marathon to raise money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Click Here for more information!
  22. Thanks for saying that, Chuck! I just started AFF in August, and I'm at Jim' Crouch's school, so of course we are following the ISP. I thought that everyone was, but I am amazed at the number of messages here from current students who still are doing the old program. In fact, I don't think I've seen one person talking about the ISP here. Personally, after buying and reading the SIM, I would have been very confused and concerned if we were not following it. I don't know why many schools haven't switched over yet. Once again, thanks for saying what this very inexperienced skydiver has been thinking! 23. AFF training started in a Navigator 260 with a collapsible pilot chute, in a Javelin adjustable harness with BOC. Just went down to a Sabre2 230, everything else the same. I'm walking a marathon to raise money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Click Here for more information!
