I can imagine a scenario where I meet someone that I truly want to marry. It seems that it can be just as smart to get married as not, in the right circumstances. I mean, my parents are happily married for more than 20 years. My grandparents, almost 50. Much respect to you for handling the situation in such a mature manner. From what I understand, these KIRO people are nothing but a video tabloid. I would imagine that most people that watch tabloids are not interested in skydiving in the first place, so this shouldn't have any kind of impact on the DZ. I'm no specialist here, but I'm under the impression that, at least in Canada, a NOTAM means that, if the pilot recklessly endangers lives in an airspace in which a NOTAM is in effect, that pilot did wrong and is held accountable. You know, I'm all for the whole husband thing, but is this going too far? Of course, when you are married to someone, you are (perhaps) expected to care about what they think, so if you wanted to dye your hair into some violent shade of green or something, I can understand the protest from the husband. Even here in Canada we had some prick buzz the DZ in the summer a couple of times. Some of the experienced folks literally flew by on their canopies shouting at him before the plane outran them. This is not cool at all. There already was a skydiver to prop collision fatality, we don't need another one. Video is not even strictly necessary. If he admits to having been in the air with jumpers, he broke NOTAMS by his own words. Get the FAA on his case immediately, get him busted, then tell the press that story. How do these headlines sound: "Terror in the Washington skies: Illegal and reckless piloting maneuvers endanger dozens of lives" -- Toggle Whippin' Yahoo Skydiving is easy. Any way to have it land on autopilot? Seriously, maybe you could install a parachute recovery system on it? As long as you spot really carefully and use a nice big round chute, it should work. Much cheaper in both money and time than building a sheet metal airplane. Can you scale that thing up to carry a passenger? And how high can it ride? These numbers may be deceptive. The question arises, how were they measured? I doubt that all the skydivers who have ever jumped throughout all of history have accumulated a million hours of freefall, so if it measures freefall time the error there is probably greater than the measurement. If this includes the time since plane ride to landing, it's a bit more convincing, but I imagine that those kinds of things are very difficult to measure. It's probably a guesstimate, and hence not all that valuable. EDITED TO ADD: Does this include BASE? -- Toggle Whippin' Yahoo Skydiving is easy. So, to relate this back to the incident, it is unlikely that this problem has anything to do with the hard opening? In fact, it seems unlikely to contribute to hard openings.
