I've heard of it before, even from people who saw demonstrations of it. I think it's real. That being said, it's still far from perfect. The images are very difficult to see. The fact that they're semi-transparent makes it more difficult because the background interferes with what you're looking at. -- Toggle Whippin' Yahoo Skydiving is easy. Ah, so now I understand what happened with the original Safire. Even though this doesn't give a definite answer as to exactly what we see in that number on the Safire 2, we can now at least compare the PD standard to the Icarus one. Someone said that Icarus uses a weird system for their canopy sizes. So a Safire 2 149, for instance, may not actually be 149 square feet, but much smaller. Can someone confirm and explain? I demoed a Safire 2 149 today. I flew it fine, landed standing up and right on my target, no problem handling it in any amount of breaks, no unexpected diving, etc. A wonderful ride. Before putting down a wad of hard earned cash on one, could you guys tell me the approximate differences between the Safire 2 and the Sabre 2? 1:3:1 One Safire-2 149 demoed. Damn that's a sweet canopy. A lot more get-up-and-go than the Triathlon, but so much flare and glide that it's a no-brainer to fly. I'm sold already, now all I need is to get the money. Heh. 3 hop and pops from a C182 playing with the canopy. 1 sweet little puffy carved through at about 3000'. One year, one month. 116 as of now, with my last being my first night jump (yes, yes, beer) Best? Too difficult to choose. My 100th was great, even though the hybrid never built. The night jump was awesome, as was the helicopter jump. There was one particularly good jump when me and a buddy went up to do a flat 2-way and we were both very inexperienced with flat flying, so we thought that we'll be all over the place, but we ended up doing something like 13 points and came down with a smile. It could be fun and I would try it if I had an experienced partner, but I doubt I would go and buy a special canopy for it, let alone an entire rig. A students forum would be very useful, but it would have to be watched as carefully as the Incidents forum. I know a lot of instructors hate it when students talk to each other, and having recently been a student, I remember how difficult it is to contain yourself when talking to someone else. As I understand it you need Freestyle experience, not FreeFly. That's all I'm going to really say because FS and SS have never really appealed to me, so I don't know anything about them. As to freeflying, I would recommend you at least learn to sitfly at one point as it can be a blast. But remember, you don't have to freefly. -- Toggle Whippin' Yahoo Skydiving is easy. While I mostly agree with the posts I read from you, I feel I must comment. Thinking that Al Qaeda and the other forms of terror are purely a product of third-party oppression is about just as naive as thinking that they are a product of nothing but religious bigotry. While it's true that the US did not exactly treat everyone nicely, the reason why they chose the path of suicide terrorism, as opposed to putting all their energy into economic separatism and guerilla warfare for instance, is purely religious. 9/11 and the Arab terror network is an Islamic crusade. If by judging you mean judging a (wo)mans character by their actions, nothing wrong with it. Or if you mean judging an action as wrong for a reason that you can articulate, sure, go ahead. If by judging you mean inferring, all too often incorrectly, qualities that you hate for no reason that you can adequately explain, and then punishing that person by hitting below the belt, please go elsewhere.
