canon 75 - 300 usm vs. 75 - 300 IS usm

I'm lookin' to get a decent zoom lens for my 10D and am currently trying out a friends canon 75 - 300 USM. It seems to work pretty good so far. While doing a bit of price shopping, I noticed that there is a IS version - I guess it's supposed to be for image stabilization or something. Has anyone had experience with this? Ok, so here's the story. We're chillin' in the hanger on the weekend in between jumps, and someone spots this bag of brownies. To make a long story short, a couple of us ended up eating the whole fricken' bag. So what, right? Well, we come to find out that a couple little children had left the brownies there for a few minutes, in hopes of returning to finish them off. Ok, so nobody has the balls to tell these little girls that us bunch of pigs ate them, so we came up with a simple solutions, which was to stage the attached picture and leave it in the place of the brownies. Freakin' Suits are pretty badass too. I just got one and am SUPER happy with it. The sizing is perfect, and it's built really well. Another good thing is that the base price is 180 bucks. I got an extra pocket, some extra stripes, and rush shipping and it came to like, 240 bucks. ANNDDD, I got it in 10 days!! The bad thing, they dont have a website that I know off. Just curious about what everyone's wearing in FF these days. I personally wear sunglasses... Arnette Titan's to be specific...
