Ferret, whats up dude. Hope you are likin the shades. As for your experience, there is an exception to every rule. I have found several people that are happy with thier suits from Kurupee. Unfortunatlely, the majority that I have talked to that own/have owned a Kurupee suit, are very displeased with the service and quality. I have to agree with you that if you custom designed your suit and it only cost you $260, that is a good deal on the details if there are many. In fact that is about half of what I am spending for an extremely custom suit from Ouragan Suits. Do I want to spend that much cash on a suit? Hell no! But I also want it to be the best that there is, as with all of my gear. Its all about expectations and use. I will be using my suit for every jump, except for the satanic hot enviornments like Byron and such. Camera, FF, Bigway Vert flying, and swooping. I need a suit that will feel as it is a part of me, and extention of my passion if you will. It has to exemplify my attitude, desires and ambitions, and on top of that be so comfortable and reliable that it is part of my jump, skills and ability. I tend to be a tad more cerebral about my approach to flying than most. Mostly I keep my neuroticness in my own head, but I am compelled to share with you why I feel the way that I do about Kurupee vs. Ouragan Suits. Cheers bro, and call me if you need some lenses or somethin. B.

Must. Read. Gear. Reviews. Crappy suit Crappy "service" Crappy communication Kurupee's days are numbered. Hope your zipper lasts more than a couple jumps.

Wow, excellent post.

Its all up to the individual. I saw it as an awesome piece of information. There was alot of great stuff in that post. Others that are more scrutinizing, and negative, saw it as an advertisement. Unfortutately, no one here gets the benefit of the doubt when posts are borderline, they are automatically re-routed or smacked off the web. But hey, I guess they don't have the time to ask every person what their intent was. Anyways, good stuff, I enjoyed it.

I am using Deepnet Explorer. So far I am happy with it. Is mozilla and the others somehow better?

Ok, that was funny. Vrrroooommmmm.......*hand swooshing over head*

Yeah i knew that posting it here was probably a bad idea after i did it. I had a few people tell me that there was no way they would post on here when they made a significant downsize to an eliptical. Then they more than likely downsized too fast and knew it as well. Its much easier to convince yourself into something like this than listen to a whole community tell you that you are being foolish. I hate to say it dude, but you fit the profile to a tee for someone that is about to embark on a canopy that you yourself know your not ready for. Good luck.
-
And if you don't listen to either of them, ie Ian and Ccowden.....you are foolish. Im not sure you have been on DZ.com long enough to realize that your choice has made you one of "those" jumpers that if you frapped in, no one would be suprised. There is no replacement for experience. Either your own, or someone elses.

For some reason, every time I see that helmet....I think of Steve Martin.

I have had a hook knife on my rig since jump #17. I have moved it from place to place a couple times since that date, as I saw fit for quick access. There are many styles out there that are made from differing materials, some cheap and some heavy and all aluminum. Granted the opportunity is small that I will ever use my knife, but I have thought of several scenerios that I will be visiting its location before I chop a main. Now I really dont want to talk about the specific scenerios, but the location of the actual knife and its composition. I see them on chest straps. Leg straps. Mudflaps and I'm sure other places. I've seen cheapo colored plastic ones (which I currently have). I've seen long Jack the Ripper ones that are all aluminum that are on the opposite end of the scale. And then the neato one made by Aerodyne. So, with all the places and styles to choose from, where in your opinion (based on actual use and lots of jump experience) is the most accessable place and style of knife. Im thinking along the lines of getting to the knife without sight, massive g-forces, head pinned, whatever fucked up mess that you might be in. And then, construction of the knife. Not only for strength, but for practicality. IE the Ripper is a slash style that does not need any finesse to use it as it is more of a machete as compared to the small plastic ones that seem they would take quite more of a tactile approach to get the desired results. Then there is also ergonomics of the knife itself. Will it work with gloves? Can you even get to it with gloves on, like, unsnap it? And how good of a grip do you have with it? Can you operate a riser with it still in your hand if need be? So many things to consider in the last seconds of your life. I just want the best option I can get for that scenerio.

Kurupee is one of, if not the worst skydiving suits ever made production wise. I have no seamstress skills and I could make, and have made, a better suit. Construction was designed to be completed in a couple of hours. If you are only concerned about it being cheap and need a suit, go to your local parts store and buy a mechanics overalls. Take stickers and paste them on the coveralls. This will last you longer and make the best use of your money. Ok, now for the substantiation. Stitching is weak. It needs triple and quadruple stitching in high stress areas. Does it have this...no. Cuffs are horrible. Dont bother measuring youself extremely accurately, as the suit will be SO much bigger than you ever want it to be when you recieve it in the mail. For pete's sake, I could HD with belly flyers with one of these. There is no liner, with no option of one. Zipper will fail, as it is cheap. There is no cross stitching at the bottom of the zipper to prevent it from going down past the start of the zipper. No neck flap. I could go on and on....but I think you get the idea.
