I had one last night.I was jumping(duh) and when it came deployment time i threw out and and had a pilotchute in tow,instead of chopping and popping my reserve I grabbed the bridle somehow and started pulling and it just came on coming out. So I have like a 20 foot bridle and I realize its too late for the reserve and all the sudden the ground is there,I stand up my landing under the PC and I'm fine !!!Everyone is exclaiming and its really weird trying to figure out how I lived.... HMMM Let me think...Skydive Atlanta,Thomaston,GA last august we did a 2way drilldive flew the exit and you made 5pts,we ended the dive with me smiling like a madman.We also had some fun 3ways. Were you the one who invited me to a going away party for a military assignment? I had a dang good time down there,very friendly people ya'all were.I look forward to getting back around there at some point in time,is this still your home DZ? The leg is healing,a few problems with soft tissue damage but the Doc is A1.This stuff can and will happen,but I'm not into golf or bowling so I do believe I'll keep right on jumpimg. So far the bills from my broken tib/fib have reached over $18,000 this is for ER and hospital,surgery,X-rays,drugs, crutches,and a airline ticket home.The bills will continue to grow as I still have many trips to the Doc and physical therapy. 135/190=0.71 use the wing load calculators available in safety to find you desired or current loading.I would not go over 1.0 for your first canopy and 0.71 would be very conservative and very forgiving to any mistakes.I would advise that ask your instructors for help with selecting gear Have fun and be safe... Yep,hear in the good'ol US of A we tend to kill the fuckers that invade our homes and terrorize our families,we even go and hunt the SOB's down on occasion(then we get in trouble). My father is a retired sheriffs deputy in lubbock,TX and him and just about any other law officer will tell you "don't injure the SOB,KILL HIM!!! then drag'em just over the threshold if you have to and stick something in his hand". Being a longhaul trucker I get to see alot of interresting things like one night at truckstop a driver was being robbed and killed this blackguy in a rather gruesome way,well the local cops show up and its one their A1badboys of the town,htey took the report made the investigation quickly and said "thank you,one less stupid ------, have a nice night."
