Should I sue/ What do you think?
chuckbrown replied to dubbayab's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Save your time and money. Don't sue. If you're not able to present the facts to this forum, it doesn't seem like you'll be able to present any necessary evidence to a judge or jury. Besides unless there was some sort of manufacturing defect that caused the inability of the cutaway system to work properly AND you can prove the manufacturer knew or should have known about any such defect, I don't see how they can be held liable. The TSO means the design is proper. Good luck & I hope your wife heals quick. -
I've always believed it doesn't matter where a person's from, what ethnicity they are, or what experience they have, it's what comes out of their mouth (or keyboard) that matters. I think Skyrad's comments speak for themselves. He's entitled to his opinion just like everybody here. Not that I agree with him, or think I can change his mind, but I know where he's coming from. My opinion: good job Marines. If they've got an AK or RPG, kill 'em.

Not sure exactly what a C182 is, but I'm thinking it's in the Cessna line. And since I have a serious aversion to those, we're gonna' let Wendy win the shortest person competition!! Nina I think I know where you're confused. You're thinking of both the 180 and the 182 and you can't remember which was the tail dragger and which had the tricycle gear ...right? The 182 was the trike. Michael Can you say Turbine Baby? I knew you could. Sorry, Nina, couldn't pass it up.

I think Beirut was under Reagan. Other than that, keep on keepin' on.

Where are you getting your information? You constantly quote 9,000 innocent civilians killed by American forces. The only information I can find on Iraqi civilian casualties estimates between 8,000 and 10,000 civilians killed BY BOTH SIDES. And these figures are suspect. Sure people get killed in the cross-fire, but stop portraying this situation as only the US running around gunning down civilians. How many civilians are being killed by roadside bombs, suicide bombers, errant RPG, mortar and AK-47 fire?

Let's not forget Frank Fuster and Grant Snowden from her days as a witch-hunting state prosecutor.

Let's see I've had family members KIA, WIA and others spend the rest of their lives in and out of the funny farm because of serving in combat in the military. I don't want to go and blow up Japan, Germany or Vietnam. By the same token the 9/11 hijackers didn't come from families harmed by the US, it was quite the opposite; most were well educated and none had a history of any "wrongs" perpetrated on them or their families by the US (unless you consider the Saudis allowing us to use their bases during the first Gulf War a "wrong"). They came after us because they were a bunch of f***ing religious nutcases.

This reminds me of a case I watched in court last year. A guy was arrested for masturbating in public and went before the judge for a pretrial diversion program (to avoid a criminal record). His attorney went up to the judge and asked the judge "if he could get him off" the charges. The judge about fell off his chair he was laughing so hard. I felt bad for the guy, but it was really funny.

I didn't expect a kind of Spanish Inquisition. Cardinal Biggles put her in the comfy chair!!

Why do you have "all Israeli" in parentheses? Are you suggesting that these wars were started by the Israeli's? The Israelis didn't start either of these wars, but they finished them by destroying the armed forces of the attacking nations. As for Iraq we are not killing those who "dislike" us, we are killing those who attack us. They won't die if they lay down their weapons.

And now for something completely different .... SPAM, SPAM, SPAM, SPAM, LOBSTER THERMADOR AU CRAVAT AND SPAM.

I've tried this but couldn't tell if it slowed the opening down. I stopped doing it when I noticed some damage to my slider, but I know people that do this regularly with no problems.

Welcome to the camp fire. Actually, this place is pretty tame. Just speak up. You want some scary stuff then go over to the Speakers Corner. Man, they're brutal. Good thing skydivers don't talk about those things at the DZ; I could see some reserves being dumped.
-
If they really like you they'll get something tastier than redi-whip. We usually buy really good pies at my DZ since everybody ends up picking pieces up off the ground to eat.

FYI, while Philadelphia is often called the Evil Empire in the rest of PA and makes it's own rules, I think judgments are only good for 5 years, but it's very easy to revive them for additional 5 year periods. It might be different in Philly though.

This is quite off thread, but I loved H.P. Lovecraft's books (read 'em all). Best horror writer ever. OK, back on thread.

>This being said, explain why Clinton turned down Sudans offer to > hand over OBL. Ah, this would be conservatives "always jumping into their time machines to make a point since they seldom can make a suggestion on current events" angle, eh? But to answer your question, I have no idea. Just to set the record straight, Sudan offered to turn over OBL in 1996 at a time when he was only known to have been a financial backer of terrorists and specifically of backing a failed attempt to blow up a hotel full of U.S. troops in 1992. The FBI said they couldn't indict him criminally, and the Saudis said they didn't want him because of the potential religious backlash. Obviously in hindsight, we should have paid the Israelis to kill him, but we have laws against that (anybody for a repeal?). I'm not a Clinton fan, nor do I particularly care for Bush, but I voted for him because IMHO he was the lesser evil. I don't think the Democrats would have gone into Afghanistan after OBL which does seem to have put AQ back on its heels. As for Iraq, time will tell, but the lull in the violence does seem to be a good sign.

If you're in PA all private criminal complaints must be approved by the DA. You can prosecute them but the DA has to OK it. Like I said before, I doubt false imprisonment will fly since she didn't restrict your freedom of movement. If she locked you in the closet, that would be false imprisonment, but if she tells a lie to the cops and they lock you in that's not false imprisonment; she didn't restrict your movement, the police did. There might be an abuse of process claim. But you've got a lawyer, listen to him. From the sounds of it he knows what he's doing. Anyway, good luck, and remember "revenge is a dish best served cold." mmmwwwwwahhhhaaa.
-
Good job, but I don't think false imprisonment will work. She didn't imprison you, the police did (didn't they?). Try for false reports to authorities instead. Ah, hell hath no fury ... (sorry ladies, I've dealt with too many psychos).

Should USPA Adopt a New Wingsuit BSR ?
chuckbrown replied to JamesNahikian's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Since this is a poll, I say keep USPA out of things unless and until wingsuits start presenting safety issues (read that as deaths). I don't know of wingsuits presenting any serious safety issues so why would you want USPA involved? -
So that's what that sticky stuff is on my keyboard. I thought I'd just gotten too excited. No wait, that's what happens when I go to Pornzone.com. All these forums get me confused.

Quote>The reason the French, the Germans and the Russians aren't in >there is because their companies were making millions doing > business with Hussien. So? We did the same; didn't slow us down. ___________________________________________ Why should it have? ------------------ June 23, 2001 (UPI) -- Halliburton Co., the oil company that was headed by Vice President Dick Cheney, signed contracts with Iraq worth $73 million through two subsidiaries while he was at its helm, the Washington Post reported. ------------------ >As for the UN, a corrupt bunch of pussies. They only stalled the war > so Hussein could continue to pay kick back's to Koffi Annan's son > under the oil-for-food program. They stalled it because their weapons inspectors said they needed more time; they could not find any WMD's. Turns out they were right. ______________________________________________ You say WMD, I say Oil-for-Food. Only the Shadow knows. Pesonally, I don't care if we ever find WMD. >BTW, the people of Iraq, most notably the Shiites and the Kurds > (who were murderously oppressed by Hussien) have welcomed us > enthusiatically. --------------- (ABC News) March 15— A year after the bombs began to fall, Iraqis express ambivalence about the U.S.-led invasion of their country, but not about its effect: Most say their lives are going well and have improved since before the war, and expectations for the future are very high. . . . More Iraqis say the United States was right than say it was wrong to lead the invasion, but by just 48 percent to 39 percent, with 13 percent expressing no opinion — hardly the unreserved welcome some U.S. policymakers had anticipated. ----------------- NAJAF, Iraq - Thousands of followers of a virulently anti-American Shiite cleric heeded his calls for an uprising against the U.S.-led occupation, storming police stations and government buildings in major cities Sunday and triggering clashes that left at least eight coalition soldiers and 21 Iraqis dead. Hundreds of Iraqis -- and more than three dozen U.S. soldiers -- were wounded in heavy fighting in central and southern Iraq. The seemingly coordinated attacks demonstrated the power of Iraq's Shiite majority and fanned long-held fears of an uprising in that population's southern stronghold ----------------- I hope they don't get any more enthusiastic or we're going to need a lot more bodybags. _____________________________________________ There already would have been more body bags if they weren't. By the way, there are other "surveys" indicated an 80% approval of the invasion by Iraqi's. You know what they say about statistics. >If the Shiite community as a whole were against us, our forces would >stand as much chance as Custer did. We have a few more Apaches, AC-130's and A-10's than Custer did. ____________________________________________ And we would have killed alot more than the 700 claimed by the military. My point is the recent violence is not some uprising on the part of the entire nation or the entire Shiite community, just 2 factions trying to get the US out so they can run their own power base, either Baathist or Islamist. >As for the photos of the poor Iraqi children. They're awful and break > my heart (truly), but how do you know they weren't hurt by their > fellow Iraqis; after all a man named Hussein had no problem > slaughtering kids, women and the elderly for his own purposes. So it is your premise that local Iraqis are maiming and killing their own children to make the US look bad? Hmm. ______________________________________________ No my premise is don't automatically believe everything you read or hear. You see dead kids and you automatically say the US did it because somebody on Al Jezerra says so. What is this tag team Greenies?
