  1. It still has to be proven of course that they are actually mercenaries and not a bunch of witch doctors with a plane load full of garlic, onions and olive oil, supplied by the WHO, on their way to SA to help treat our Aids sufferers! Can't belive anyone would try to use that as a cure Everyone knows that you need SWEET POTATOES to cure AIDs! Tough afternoon

My Ex wife could never even look at the TV when ER was on. You develope the 'black humour' to deal with the stress you face everyday. Its who you share these jokes with that is important. A 'normal' person would never understand and just think you're sick. How else do you deal with your feelings? We see loads of patients in a day, they are scared and angry, frightened and worried. The last thing they need is for us to be in pieces because of the last patient we saw and of whom they know nothing. So each patient has to be like the first of the day. No matter what you've just been dealing with. So we dissociate ourselfs from things by turning the worst things into humour that gets us through. We deal with it later. But if you only hear the joke, you wouldn't understand the whole picture. Stick with it mate. Tough afternoon

Thats one of the hardest things, you feel so angery that someone can do something like this to a child. You're in the room with the number one suspect. But you don't know who did it, maybe it was the father, or the mother. It could have been the babysitter or even thir boyfrind for all you know. No matter how likely its the parents you just don't know. You have to give them the benifit of the doubt whilst looking out for the best interests of the child and walking the fine line of forensic requirments while quite upset. Without a doubt its the hardest part of our job. When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. Lucius Annaeus Seneca

No I'm afraid that metabolic bone disorders in this case are not suspected, and so far not apparent on any investigation. The injuries are consistent with the baby being shaken and the limbs twisted. Also the parents were arrested after the death of the last child, evidence is still being examined. Tough afternoon

Somedays my job is great and somedays its not. I spent this afternoon X raying a three week old baby, looking for eveidence of non accidental injury (NAI =Abuse) This baby was small, its skin covered with infectious rash, it has mouth ulcers. After checking the images I found ten fractured ribs, a spiral fracture in the bone of the upper left arm, and a fractured femur (thigh bone). This baby has been on this planet for three weeks. The father was with the Nurse and in the room. The parents lost another baby last year aged six months, it also had broken bones and died of an infection. Sometimes its hard to keep a professional demeanor. The other week a young woman came into A&E (ER) feeling 'ill' she was uncooperative. She said she needed the toilet she was complaining of abdomminal pains, she was making sounds like she was in pain whilst in the toilet, after twenty minutes or so she came out, blood was on the floor and she looked very unwell. She was taken back to the Resus area and a when questioned she said she had been bleeding into the toilet. The Nursing Sister went to get a sample of the blood from the toilet and to see if there was any matter in the blood. As she lent over the bright red blood splattered toilet bowl with a net like sieve, the dark red still water was disturbed as something moved under the bloody toilet water, it made her jump. Then as she looked again a babies foot broke the surface. She pulled the now still baby out of the water and ran it into resus where it was revived. The mother had known and it had been in there for at least ten minutes. She didn't want to have anything to do with it. What is it about people that can treat thier own children this way... Can anyone explain, I just don't understand. When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. Lucius Annaeus Seneca

    Lovely Poem

Tularemia, a disease that can affect both animals and humans, is caused by a bacteria, Francisella tularemsis. Although many wild animals are infected, (hares, rabbits, squirrels, muskrats, beavers, deer), occasionally certain domestic animals can be infected (sheep and cats). The rabbit is the species most often involved in disease outbreaks. The bacteria can also be found in ticks and deerflies. The common routes include: inoculation of the skin or mucous membranes with blood or tissue while handling, dressing or skinning infected animals; contact with fluids from infected flies or ticks; the bite of infected ticks; or handling or eating insufficiently cooked rabbit or hare meat. Rabbit meat can remain infective even after being frozen for several years. Rubber gloves should be worn when skinning or handling animals, especially rabbits. 10. North, Sorry to hear what happened, we get enough crap from patients let alone colleages. I don't know much about American law so can't help you there but I would suggest that you put in a written complaint for harrasment and bullying in the work place about this guy to you HR department ASAP. Also if you've got a Society Rep or Union rep get them onside ASAP. I'm guessing that you have some sort of Society that covers you for insurance, ours The Society Of Radiographers also gives free legal advice. Well, other than that Happy Birthday for yesterday mate. If all goes to ratshit we could always do with more Radiographers over here in the UK! Chin up mate! 14. I'm glad that you have spoken up of the importance of Jesus (Isa) to Muslims. But Muslims also belive that Jesus was not crucified, that it was not possible for one so beloved of God to be put to death by man. I was brought up a Muslim and now pray in a Christian church. The most wise and prophetic thing that Christ ever said was this (Luke 12 49:53) "I have come to bring fire on the earth, and how I wish it were already kindled! But I have a baptism to undergo, and how distressed I am until it is completed! Do you think I came to bring peace on earth? No, I tell you, but division. From now on there will be five in one family divided against each other, three against two and two against three. They will be divided, father against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against mother, mother-in-law against daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against mother-in-law." How sad and how true. When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. Lucius Annaeus Seneca

  16. I agree with Phillykev here. Its not misrepresentation of NOI its misrepresentation of what Muslims want and belive. The NOI isn't recognised by the vast majority of Muslims as even being Muslim. Even Malcom X turned away from them and condemned them when he became a Muslim. As for your reference to firearms, thats just bizzare. When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. Lucius Annaeus Seneca

  24. My Grandfather was a war hero. During WWII While everyone else was out trying their hardest to kill each other he was on top of a ladder in the east end of London putting out fires and saving lives while all around him incendery bombs were falling. That is what I call a real war hero.
