Hepatitis C virus is a highly variable agent and there are now 6 recognised genotypes with numerous subtypes. These genotypes and subtypes are distributed geographically. Type 4 has a high subtype diversity in Africa, and type 3 in South east Asia. There is very little subtype diversity in Europe and North America suggesting that the virus has only been recently introduced to these areas. Genotype I, especially subtype Ib, has been associated with a poor response to interferon therapy (and combination therapy of alpha interferon and ribivirin) and severe chronic liver disease. predictors of good response to combination therapy include: HCV with genotypes 2 or 3 rather than 1 low viral load absence of cirrhosis female age below 40 years. The following papers may be of interest, good luck. NICE (October 2000). Guidance on the use of Ribavirin and Interferon Alpha for Hepatitis C. McHutchison JG et al. Interferon alpha-2b alone or in combination with ribavirin as initial treatment for chronic hepatitis C. NEJM (1998), 339, 1485-92. Poynard T et al. Randomised trial of interferon alpha 2b plus ribavirin for 48 weeks or for 24 weeks versus interferon alpha 2b plus placebo for 48 weeks for treatment of chronic hepatitis C virus. International Hepatitis Interventional Therapy Group. Lancet (1998), 352, 1526-32. When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. 'Since you seem to be in argument to everything I say' Thats not true. You have made some interesting points and I actualy agree with a fair few of the points you've made. However, I do disagree with some of the sweeping generalisations that you tend to include in your posts, like the older surgeons comment. As for my injury, I was in Spain it was my 50th jump and I was on a rented 285, (It was all that was left) I took off and from take off to altitude the wind increased massively by the time I jumped there was a 200 jump minimum in force but no one told the jumpers. On deployment I suffered a C spine flexion injury. It turned out the canopy had recently had new lines fitted. It was a slammer of an opening and for the next week it felt like a cannon ball being balanced on top of a noodle. As for your advice, I thank you for the offer. No offence but when seeking advice I'll ask a Profesor of Neurology rather than a lay person. '3)Don't ever let anyone touch you who is > 45 years old! They should be young enough to have learned all the latest, greatest techniques, and still be green enough to be reading, still interested in, and keeping up to date on all the latest info. Too many older medics learn just a couple things, then sit back on their laurels and become 1 trick ponys. refusing to put in the time or effort to learn new techniques. You must find a medic who is new enough to be still learning, yet experienced enough not to be using you as a learning tool! That is a tricky fine line to decipher. Also, remember that in any given med school class, there were those at the top of the class, and those at the bottom, who just barely got by. Be sure to know where in their class your medic was, and only visit those at the top of the class! ' That is the most stupid thing I've read in a long time. Who do you think teachs the youngsters?. A career in surgery is a commitment to life long learning. Yes, surgeons do end up with specialities within their chosen field, but the point is make sure you go to the correct surgeon for your problem. In the UK this is proberbly alot easier thanks to the NHS. But age is not the issue. Working with surgeons all the time I can tell you without a doubt I'd rather have an op done by a Consultant with many years of experience than by a eager young reg or new consultant any day. 'Large males can not really understand or appreciate what we little people go through and tolerate to keep up/down with you guys! It puts an extra stress on our bodies that you big boys don't have to endure, though ironically you big boys with big bones and muscles are better equipt & suited to carry an extra load, rather than us tiny people!' This is simply not true. Look into the biomechanical mechnisim of injury in flexion extension injuries and the forces involved in rapid decelaration events and you will realise that even large guys with well developed neck muscles are vunerable to this kind of injury. I'm six foot four, in good physical shape and injured my neck in during a hard opening, the injury was recived two years ago and I am still in regular pain from it. I am not a lone case by any strech of the imagination. Your argument is uninformed. I think alot of us feel the same way, but as this is a suggestions forum; I suggest that HH already knows this and further suggest that repeated begging and asking will only irritate him and the greenies. I suggest we just bide our time, practice a little patience and give them time to discuss the issue and make plans. 'My two-cents worth' There you go overcharging again! Seriously though, having a discussion about something you feel strongly about is one thing but it was getting mad. I also think alot of the threads you put up were designed just to crank people. I have to admit I'm guilty of being reactionary in some of those threads. What I got fed up with in TB was people bashing other countries all the time. A bit of good natured teasing is one thing but some people were just plain nasty. I would personaly be glad to see the back of gun threads and election politics. I'm sure most Americans would find numerous threads on the London council by elections about as interesting as watching paint dry. DZ.com is used by people all over the world not just in the states, might be worth remembering that. A thread, well, if you must but thread after thread is just plain annoying. If and when TB comes back I'd also like to see non offensive, non racist, rules. When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. I like suggestion number four. Politics and religion just end up in arguments because there's some seriously fixed opinions out there (Maybe guilty ) But I did a thread on No politics and no religion and it wasn't exactly riviting stuff. What I would like to see is no national politics and no gun stuff as for sex, well the majority of the web is already full of that, don't really need it here. Actualy its invented and developed by an American called Steve Smith. Its passed by the FDA under Section 201(h) of the Federal Food Drug and Cosmetic Act (FFDCA) and the safety of the product is addressed by the provisions of Subchapter C – Electronic Product Radiation Control. Its in use in the US already. Better get phoning ! When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. Lucius Annaeus Seneca

The Police didn't just pop along on the spur of the moment because they had nothing better to do. They had 'probable cause' the people scanned had been arested and were 35 out of 200 that had been drinking in the two pubs. 'Scotland Yard said the arrests were for offences which included possession with intent to supply drugs, possession of an offensive weapon, handling stolen goods and immigration offences.' Never thought I'd see the day when you stood up for the rights of illegal imigrants As for the safety aspect, I'd be happy to get in it. A typical 4 view scan (Using the system mentioned) averages less than 3 microREM of x-ray exposure to the person being scanned. In comparison, a person may be exposed to 500 microREM of radiation per hour of watching television. Nice post. You can get to the top of the ladder in politics n this country as well, John Major & Maggie T, both came from very ordinary working class backgrounds. I think thats proberbly the same in most of Europe and a fair few other countries around the world. But, nice post. '.....said all eight were of Pakistani descent, but police would not comment on that. The men, Patrick O'Hare, Tomas Murphy, Fergal O'Farrel, Brendan O'leary, Ciran Dellany, Semus O'Reilly, Liam Adams & Gerry O'Tool aged 17-32, were arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the commission, preparation or instigation of acts of terrorism. It is not know what part of Pakistan they are from but its belived they maybe from the North West tribal areas...........'
