  1. No wonder childhood obesity is increasing year on year in the US. When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. Lucius Annaeus Seneca

  3. Except you can't get decent biltong in the USA just that tasteless beef jerky crap. When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. Lucius Annaeus Seneca
  4. I'll not try to explain as I'm not a Vet so no point in trying to make a blind Turtle see. When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. Lucius Annaeus Seneca

  6. True It is an ignorant comment, but its also a reflection of the stupid comment about South Africa. When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. Lucius Annaeus Seneca
  7. LOL... I'd forgotten about that. The rest of the western and Latin and Anglasied southern hemisphere nations was like 'So what' yet the fuss that was made in the US you'd think ET had landed in the middle of the stadium at half time. 8. Thats because the good ol' boys, hung all the coloured folk! When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. Lucius Annaeus Seneca
  9. Your lack of knowledge on South African affairs is embarassing. BTW, South Africans are very glad that the US didn't come to South Africa. When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. Lucius Annaeus Seneca
  10. For a self professed educated man that was a pretty idiotic post. I'm guessing that either the educational system has different standards to our European ones or you're having a bit of an off day. 11. No, it's like listening to a former Christian terrorist and gaining insight from their personal experience on what Christian terrorism is all about. So long as one doesn't confuse Christian terrorism with Christianity or Islamist terrorism with Islam then thats fine, yet somehow I doubt thats the case on that website. 12. I noticed the conservative nature of the adverts when I've been in the US in the past but that takes it to a whole new level Jeanne When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. Lucius Annaeus Seneca
  13. If that is the case then how is it possible to get married in a civil setting with a non religious cerimony? Maybe the definition of marriage differs in the USA but looking at my Marriage certificate it definatly says marriage and we had a civil wedding. 14. Firstly... I'm glad that someone else recognises that also. Secondly, in South Africa plural marriages are recognised for both sexes under one of the most liberal consitutions in the world. How therefore is it that in the so called 'Land of the free' which is not a Christian country but a secular one that plural marriages are not allowed? 15. So what? All of a sudden you listen to the opinions of a man who by his own admission grew up in a family who were extremists. By his own admission his world view and that of what he thinks Islam is steeped in the views of the extreme. This is like getting a video of a former Christian terrorist and having him explain what Christianity is all about. And 'Oh what a suprise' he's trying to sell a book to the Christian right in the USA. How objective he must be D- (Must try harder) When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. Lucius Annaeus Seneca
  16. I suppose you sneer at Larry and Curly, too. You have no shame. LOL When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. Lucius Annaeus Seneca

  19. *** In my opinion, this is just the latest chapter in the unending Security Theater drama. Why? Consider the case of an Improvised Explosive Device that was used in Saudi Arabia to attack an Assistant Interior Minister for anti-terrorism policy: The bomber delivered the package in his ass. Yes, you read that right: ************** On 27 August 2009, at about 23:30 hours (local time), in Jeddah (Saudi Arabia) a suicide bomber tried to assassinate the Assistant Interior Minister of Saudi Arabia, Prince Muhammad bin Nayef. Muhammad, who is also the son of the country's Interior Minister, was lightly injured in the attack. According to several media worldwide, the suicide bomber had hidden the improvised explosive device (IED) in his rectum and activated it once close to the Prince. ************ Link to PDF of attack analysis What's going to happen when Hadjii succeeds with this kind of attack against an airliner? What will the TSA goons make passengers do next? Why not what the Israelis do? Screen passengers intelligently? mh . "Does my bomb look big in this" Actually for once we actually agree on something. The checks are there to make people 'feel' safe rather than making them safer. However I would prefer a body scanner rather than the whole half hearted physical search. As for bombs up bums there is only so far you can go when it comes to mass screening. Even if you checked everyones rectums then whats to stop them from having the device surgically impanted into the abdominal cavity? Ethnic profiling wouldn't work either as terrorists come in all shapes and shades. When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. 21. Because it is good for business. The owner of the Fark.com website wrote a book about his observations. One thing that he noted is the Pepsi-Coke false dichotomy. There are always ads comparing Pepsi and Coke, as if there were no other choices. In this situation though, you can actually make the choice of another flavor and get the drink you want. (At least superficially, drink flavors are owned on a regional level, so the money goes to a limited number of owners) If you choose, someone who does not have a voting coalition behind them, your candidate may win, but spend their elected term being used as the whipping boy for the other parties - and accomplish little. Thank you for your reply. When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. Lucius Annaeus Seneca
  22. I can only but agree with Jamile here. There is never a real debate about issues any more. The usual suspects spend all their time insulting, belittling, attacking, and generally embarrasing themselves. We have the crude and insessant obsession with anal sex, as in "Butt Hurt", bestiality as in "Goat Fuck" and simple childish attempts at trying to sound clever, but being completely assinine. Consider "rePUBICans", "conservitards", "Obuma", and all the other extremely childish and infantile insults. There was a time when real debate took place, but as has been said, those posters have lost interest. Now we have these ridiculess pissing contests of "You said, I said", "Show me where" etc. etc. I used to enjoy the banter here. Alas.... no more. Max, where are you when this forum needs you???? Well said Erroll. Max is a good example of a poster who I don't always agree with but whos posts I read because they rationally post the other view and make me question my stand point. On occasion I have changed my mind because of such posts. When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. Lucius Annaeus Seneca
  23. All elected "officials", wheather Democrat or Republican, have one thing in common. They're all politicians. They need each other. There is really no difference in the way they do things. Sucking up money from the special intrests so they can keep their cushy jobs is their number 1 priority. If something good for the country or their constituancy, so much the better but it was probably an accident. Just like a small town lawyer will starve to death if he's the only lawyer in town. But if there are 2 lawyers, they will both get rich. They need each other. They're like the "wrasslers" on TV. They yell and scream and put on a good show. When that act is over, they go out to dinner togerther and compare the size of their "war chests." Agreed, with one exception: in the US Congress, for about the past 20-25 years, the partisan vitriol is so bitter and polarizing that Members of one party very rarely socialize with Members of the other party any more. Why is that? Its crazy, I have friends with kinds of political opinion and beliefs but it doesn't preclude them from my social circle. In fact knowing people with different views makes for a richer life. When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy. 24. But I don't understand what you are saying? America should just be happy with the way things are going and just not talk about things? There are issues in our country and things need to be addressed naturally, people are going to have opposing viewpoints on these issues. So it's an unavoidable consequence. OK, I didn't explain my point very well. Its not so much the subjects as the way they're discussed (or not as the case usually is). Its the narrow mindedness that is so frustrating. I can't decide if its intellectual lazyness or shear stupidity that makes people lump others who happen to disagree on what they believe into a hate group (Republican or Democrat). Debate the subjects by all means but posting nonsense just to inflame the opposing political belief just gets boring (yes that is my opinion as a non american) When an author is too meticulous about his style, you may presume that his mind is frivolous and his content flimsy.
