ok, dreamdancer. Now answer the fucking question.
-
You've obviously never been to Thailand. Nah, I'm not into tranny hookers. Australia, on the other hand, was awesome.
-
If you're such an advocate for equality and economic justice, (Marxism?) why did you leave one Monarchy (UK) for another one (Thailand)? I'd think a Monarchy is antithetical to your views and support for the Occupy Movement? You paid taxes in the UK supporting a Queen, and now you (presumably) pay taxes in Thailand, supporting a King who criminalizes any ill-words spoken about him... How do you reconcile your socioeconomic/political views with living in a Monarchy?

yep, that's what i do - did you not like my work? Your work? I haven't seen any 'work' out of you. Just a bunch of copying and pasting and you don't break a sweat doing that. Chuck ah well, i could link more - but you've got your tinfoil hat stuck right down over your ears. don't fall off that horse now... Do you pay taxes in Thailand, or do you work for Bhat under the table? If you do pay taxes, what is your feeling about supporting the King? Do you pay taxes to the UK as an Ex-pat? If you do pay UK taxes, what is your feeling about supporting the Queen? -
Why do you live in a Monarchy?

If I've decoded your question properly, you're asking if the "Free Market" should work according to who's products are "the best quality" rather than simply "who sells their products the best." It's not that simple. Every purchasing decision is made on whether or not the items suits the end users requirements. VHS won over Beta not because it was the superior product (it wasn't by a long shot), but because it came in at a lower price point and the consumer said, "Ok, that's good enough." it's more along the lines of 'imagine a perfect free market. will people's labour be allocated meritocratically - the best person for the job'. or will the free market default to some other outcome? It should default to business owners being able to hire whomever the F**k they want as long as they are not clearly discriminating against a Protected Class.

Not likely. A two man team operates these UAVs: The Pilot keeps the bird flying, whereas the Sensor Operator takes care of the surveillance. And how attentive is that guy, staring at a monitor on a long flying craft often in a near hover? Remote controlled is the problem here. Not only is it harder to see, the motivation is a bit diminished. It feels like the same big sky mentality that many jumpers put faith into. A bit of a difference between a USN/USAF/US Army-trained duo of Aviators and some Jackwagon who went to a tiny DZ and did AFF...

According to the website of The Royal Household they employ approximately 1,200 people, of which 450 are funded by the taxpayer. Looks like they are providing something. You do make a pretty solid argument in favour of Estate Taxes though. Why indeed should people keep their wealth if they aren't doing anything and just won the "genetic lottery"... The difference is that estates are given freely/voluntarily to one's progeny, whereas the Royals get Tax Money given to them (taken involuntarily from Commoners) for being part of a "Special" family.

The aircraft was DHS, not DoD. Only the airfield is DoD. The forest service uses DoD airfields to fight fires, and this does not constitute the DoD figthing fires...

Probably, but I don't think you get my point. I also think the monarchy shouldn't exist in this day and age. But it is an insignificant flaw of my society, nothing more. Not something to emigrate over... But before going after Capitalists that provide jobs and earn their money, should not the Occupy Sympathizers first go after the Royals, who take hundreds of millions from their people but provide NOTHING?
-
Why should they receive anything simply because of the family they were born into? What do they provide for the millions they are paid? Why do they qualify? And Monarchies are antithetical to those who support OWS.

Would Chelsea Clinton's first foray into broadcast journalism be on the the national stage were she not born to it? Apples and Oranges--Broadcast Journalism is run by PRIVATE Companies, who can hire anyone they want. The MOD, a Government Agency, is supposed to take the best and brightest, not someone's kid simply because they're someone's kid. Now if Chelsea Clinton was admitted to West Point simply because of her Dad, that'd be similar. What a silly response. Getting a leg up due to family connections is what it is, whether it's politics, journalism, the military or what-have-you. All different stanzas of the same tune: "The it sucks to be the little guy blues". You miss the point--A private company is not required to be a meritocracy. The Government, in theory, is supposed to be one when it comes to hiring. You completely ignored my example. Chelsea Clinton being hired by a private company--their call, not subject to oversight. The government should be required to hire the best and brightest without regard to paternity.

Lemme guess, this is your favourite song: Die Fahne hoch! -

There is a small but vocal group here which supports the Occupy Movement. Oddly enough, there are a great many living in Monarchies. It would seem to be horribly inappropriate for someone who believes in the Occupy movement to live in a place where a Family is considered Royalty, picking the pocket of the commoners simply to serve as figureheads. What exactly does the King of Spain do? The King of Thailand? Prince Charles? Why do they get to be king? Why does Japan have an Emperor? At least The POTUS, Senators and Reps have to be elected--these people simply hit the Pick Six in the Genetic Lottery! Would the Children of Prince Charles and Diana Spencer be so rapidly promoted (in several services) if they weren't Royalty? I'd think that eliminating Monarchies--the ultimate do-nothing parasites (unlike business execs, who provide employment opportunities for workers and dividends and profit to shareholders) would be tops on their hit list... Or at least they'd leave to a place without a King/Queen...

I think Robin Williams said it best: "The English got to the new world and met the Natives: 'Hello! We bring you Syphilis and Alcohol!'" The only really good things to come out of the UK recently are Shirley Manson, Guinness, and the Lee-Enfield series of rifles... :) -

Hmmm... Whose country has American Air Bases and Army Posts within its borders? Oh yeah, Ihre geliebte Drittes Reich. -
Isn't that where DreamDancer, our resident hater of "the 1%" lives? Odd that he'd choose a Monarchy to live in...
