  1. There's a sales position at the Verizon Wireless retail store in Colorado Springs available. With your experience, you would probably be very qualified for it, and, since they are not a retailer, typically do not do shady business like independent stores. 3. I'm seeing a lot of misinformation on this thread, so this reply is to no one in particular. Your credit report does not include whether you were accepted or declined by a creditor. Rather, your credit score ALWAYS goes down any time someone requests your credit, whether they approve or deny you. This is why you don't want to apply for too much credit. The upside to this is that any time you apply for credit, you may take advantage of the law allowing you a free copy of your credit report whenever you are denied credit, simply because the agencies do not know the outcomes of any credit decisions. I have never once carried a balance on any credit card, and this has not negatively impacted my credit rating (in fact, as you'll see, it helps). The credit report does not say how much I pay off at a time, merely that I "pay as agreed." It does, however, include every credit card and loan that I have (and whether there is a balance), even though there are no negative marks against me. Here is an outline of how credit agencies calculate one's credit score. You will notice that higher balances LOWER your score, as do numerous credit inquiries. See also here for what you may expect to find on your credit report. A One that Isn't Cold is Scarcely a One at All
  4. LOL - that's TWICE in this thread I asked a question and then immediately figured out the answer myself. How about a clue? I can't find the 6th card anywhere on the light. A One that Isn't Cold is Scarcely a One at All
  5. On dry days, I always touch things with my key first. That way, the static electricity discharges without giving me a shock so that when I touch the object with my hand, there's no charge left to shock me. A One that Isn't Cold is Scarcely a One at All
  6. $&*#! The reserve is now being sent back to Paraflite for inspection. I was hoping to have my rig back in shape for Scott Miller's canopy control course on the 21st, but I don't think that's going to happen now. There's rental gear, but does it really make sense to take a canopy control course on a canopy that I won't typically be flying? I guess I'm pretty pissed off that this is the first I've heard of this. This is specifically why I had a rigger inspect the canopy when I bought it, and I have no idea why he never mentioned this problem to me. A One that Isn't Cold is Scarcely a One at All
  7. Wow, I must be really bad at this...I can't even get past the introduction. It sais, "Indeed, you are still to escape," and then nothing happens! A One that Isn't Cold is Scarcely a One at All
  8. Now that would be fun...I got my bachelor's from IU in 2001. A One that Isn't Cold is Scarcely a One at All
  9. Nope, you're thinking of What's Opera, Doc? where they pay homage to the Ring (and Tannhaeuser, by the way). The Rabbit of Seville is the one where Elmer Fudd and Bugs Bunny go into the opera house just as its about to start and it uses the overture to Barber of Seville while Fudd tries to shoot Bugs among Barbershop-related paraphernalia. 10. Mature? Gee, there really isn't much on there that isn't G-Rated... The occasional reference to a cold-one, but other than that, is less graphic overall than something like Ren & Stimpy. A One that Isn't Cold is Scarcely a One at All
  11. Well, the nice thing about Bayreuth is that with a 10 year waitlist, it gives you time to save up the money. Bayreuth is on my list of things to do, too, by the way. As I recall, Seattle is planning on doing a production of it next year, if you are interested. A One that Isn't Cold is Scarcely a One at All
  12. Oh but Wagner is awesome! Deep, heavy, moving, and stunning music. This past Saturday I got a chance to see Goetterdaemmerung, the final opera of Wagner's 15 hour cycle called "The Ring of the Nibelungen" at the Met (I caught all four). This cycle of operas is where all the jokes about it not being over until the fat lady sings originated, and culminates in (essentially) the world burning down. It is true that Wagner takes a little getting used to, and some patience, but when he wants to, he can blow your ears through your ass! A One that Isn't Cold is Scarcely a One at All
  13. YES!!! I love that first album. I could listen to Carousel over and over... A One that Isn't Cold is Scarcely a One at All

  16. Well, I'm lucky I still have the old e-mails I used to correspond with her, otherwise I wouldn't have known how to get in touch with her. Good thinking, though, I popped her an e-mail. She was very nice when I spoke with her last year, so maybe she'll be able to offer some input. The reserve is a 1989 Swift-Plus. A One that Isn't Cold is Scarcely a One at All
  17. No idea. The rigger didn't know what it might be from. A One that Isn't Cold is Scarcely a One at All
  18. Well, I sent my rig to be repacked last week, and the rigger didn't like what he saw. I guess the reserve had some staining on it, suggesting maybe water damage, and he wouldn't repack it because he wasn't able to assess whether the fabric was airworthy. This irks the hell out of me, because I know I didn't get it wet, and the rigger I had inspect it when I purchased it never mentioned anything like this to me when I bought it last year. I called Paraflite, who recommended I get a second opinion before I shipped it to them to inspect, so my fingers are crossed that I'm not dealing with a car cover here. But I'll be really annoyed if I have to start renting gear again! A One that Isn't Cold is Scarcely a One at All
  19. Trent Reznor showed up in last month's Parachustist, having done a tandem. Who else saw that? Is it just me or did he look really frickin' fat? A One that Isn't Cold is Scarcely a One at All
  20. Well, I know this is meant to be a fun thread, but I'm going to bog it down with a serious comment anyway. Since I've begun skydiving, I've learned most about personal responsibility and that I am accountable for every decision I make. When you're in freefall and it is your life on the line and there is no one who can save you but you, it brings into focus a lot in the rest of one's life and teaches you to remember that you are in control of your destiny, for better or for worse. 21. Hell yeah; I've brought homebrew to the dz when I've owed beer. One batch = 2 cases so you can get ahead really quickly. I have a Belgian Dubbel sitting in secondary right now, and I must say I'm not looking forward to bottling day. I #$%&^ hate bottling day. A One that Isn't Cold is Scarcely a One at All
  22. I haven't; the only other book I've read of his is The Cat Who Could Walk Through Walls. I wasn't as impressed by that one, although I loved to watch the gender hierarchy as it shifted between Richard and Gwen, particularly how condescending Richard is to Gwen in the beginning of the book ("Use your head, Gwen.") and how by the end of the book we learn just how experienced Gwen is and suddenly Richard looks like a baby. Never did get the whole cat walking through walls thing...such an insignificant part of the story to be used as its title. A One that Isn't Cold is Scarcely a One at All
  23. Funny we should be speaking of Heinlein. This morning, I finished reading, for about the fourth time, Stranger in a Strange Land. A tempting view of utopia, if only it didn't rely so heavily on one vision of Martian culture. A One that Isn't Cold is Scarcely a One at All
  24. Wow, the things that pass for trolling these days. C'mon...the man posts an article and you call him a troll for it? That's a bit over the top, I think. A One that Isn't Cold is Scarcely a One at All
