  1. Like I said - no English classes in my college OK, I'll let it go then...
  2. Ok, so you made me have to look up a word too. But, BTW, you misspelled it... it should be parAllelogram.
  3. Geez, what college did you go to with no English classes? Some sort of geek college???
  4. Actually, they teach that Texas is the largest conterminous state in the US... but Texas, like every other place in the world, has its share of stupid people that don't understand that concept. Perhaps your roommate was simply one of those people, and not a "stereotypical" Texan?
  5. Ok, how 'bout some painted boobies? (do I really need to put NSFW when the word "boobies" precedes the picture??? ;-)
  6. Ok, I don't do this often... but I will definitely send Crazy Ivan some vibes... In fact, I will even do a topless backwards rain dance while praying that Ivan will find a good new job. >>
  7. My current avatar is from the last Halloween night... I was drunk and handing out candy to the neighborhood kids, though I don't have my mask on because it was too scary.
  8. Yep, when I moved to CA it took me two days - one day to drive across TX and one day to drive through NM, AZ & CA... (Yeah I know, that's kinda slow driving - my 4-cylinder pickup wasn't happy pulling the U-haul ;-)

    Where am I?

Hmm, Beaumont and Fort Stockton... sounds like you're seeing all the highlights of Texas! You really should have detoured to Austin... but then you might never leave Texas. Sorry I missed you while you were here. I've been a homebody lately... (though I did finally make reservations for the wind tunnel next weekend! :-) Have a safe trip back to FL, and don't have TOO much fun in Beaumont.
  10. Thanks for the pictures. That is a really neat area out there. Rafting on the Rio Grande is nice, and riding donkeys into Mexico. Oh, and as for the mountain lions... I once attended this "big cat" seminar in Big Bend, where we spent the day hiking, looking for mountain lion tracks, breaking up pieces of "scat" to see what the lions had been eating, and spotting the little mounds of dirt that the lions urinated on to either mark their territory or to engage in courtship. It was pretty cool, except that we didn't actually see any lions (but maybe that's a good thing).
  11. Congratulations! I've gotta get me one of those laptop thingies one of these days... (like I don't already spend enough time on my damn computer!) Have fun with your new toy!
  12. I don't know about being the best state (I wouldn't call any of 'em the best state), but I do love Texas... especially Austin and the Hill Country (and I'm not even a hippie!).
  13. Ah, I think I figured out who it is... Obviously it is not me, because I am so perfect that I would never get banned. (Just kidding, HH & greenies, please don't ban me! I promise not to call quade "evil and scary" ever again! Unless he wants me to, of course... )
  14. Um, dude, isn't your "after" picture from before you even started the Body for Life program??? You were already thin when you left here. What are you doing going on a diet???
  15. W. in New Haven, CT Sr. in Milton, MA Do I get a star?
  16. That's what I thought when I saw this thread... Damn, Kate must have done something really naughty in Thailand!
  17. OK, I take it back. You're not evil and scary. I suppose if I am going to kill them, that would be one of the nicer ways...
  18. But the little fart-knockers ate all my beautiful poppies! Hmm, maybe some explosives would be a good idea!
  19. Thanks to everyone who offered suggestions. I will try some of the gentler ways, and if that doesn't work then I will kill the little bastards (though I don't think I'll use quade's method because quade is an evil scary man ). I don't like to kill things, but with gardening sometimes there doesn't seem to be much choice (weeds, ants, slugs & snails, etc.)... Gardening is such a violent hobby! Oh, and I do have cats but they are indoor-only kitties. And I would get a dog, but somehow I think it would destroy my garden at least as much as the gophers do. And I have been thinking about "Caddyshack" ever since the gophers started giving me trouble. Maybe I should go rent it for inspiration.
  20. That may have something to do with the fact that you're in humid Florida and Lew is in Elsinore in the middle of the desert with about zero humidity. High humidity makes canopies seem to pack smaller... Low humidity sucks...
  21. So does anyone have any good advice on getting rid of gophers??? (preferrably without killing them) I finally got rid of all the snails and slugs in my garden, but now the freakin' gophers are eating all of my plants! Thanks

    Jobs

What kind of job do you have? You're not operating heavy machinery, are you???
  23. Sure I can control it... by NOT going to the Bombshelter! The two of you are bad influences anyway. In fact, everyone out here is a bad influence. I was a perfect angel before I moved to this sinful state.
  24. Hmm, I saw this and thought for a moment about popping down there myself, but I really don't want to be hungover tomorrow so I think I'll stay home and be a (mostly) good girl. Oh well, give Lisa a slap on the boody for me and tell her I said howdy.
