Thanks, Krisanne... I'll check that out when I get a chance.

Does this happen to anyone else, and what causes it?
Shotgun replied to Anvilbrother's topic in The Bonfire
Does this also involve drinking a fifth of whiskey every night before you go to bed? Zinc pills are kinda bad on an empty stomach, but if it happens without those, maybe you should ask a doctor... -
Speaking of New Orleans music in Austin, there is an article about that on Austin360 today: http://www.austin360.com/music/content/music/statesman/2005/09/8notx.html (I've been following the evacuee news on Austin360 because Austin is my hometown - wish I was there right now... not that they really need any more people in town at the moment.)

Dude, Rio is not in Europe, it's in Portugal. What??? And I thought Rio was in Texas!
-
Thanks for sharing that...

Ya know, you'll be a much better musician if you just force yourself to learn it by ear.

I like this article about New Orleans. It does a really good job of describing what is so intriguing about that city: The full article is here: http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/05250/566601.stm

This is the only thing that I see for that song, but I don't know if it will help much (doesn't have tab for the solo): http://www.guitaretab.com/d/drivin-and-cryin/5649.html

Yeah, I didn't get a tattoo to be cool either; I got one because I wanted one, and because I wanted to see what the tattoo gun felt like. If I want to be cool and impress other people, I just light up a cigarette.
-
I got a tattoo about 12 years ago, and I have been wanting another one ever since... but I haven't been able to come up with anything else that I want, so I haven't gotten another one yet. I just really enjoyed the experience of getting a tattoo and would like to do it again (perhaps that is because I am a weirdo ).

It's been a while, but I think it was an '86... The fastest I was able to get it to was about 126 mph, but in that little car it was quite a rush.
-
I didn't total my first car - a Chevy Cavalier - though I didn't take very good care of it either (I just thought they needed gas - no one told me they needed oil too! )... The only car I totalled was my Toyota MR2 that I owned later... and I was sort of relieved that I totalled it without hurting myself or anyone else... because I drove that thing like a maniac and was certain that I was going to end up killing myself or someone else with it (it simply would not GO less than 100 mph! ).

Here's one of Iggy and Moonshine that I posted before: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?do=post_attachment;postatt_id=40234;

Do you have COOL neighbors, SHITTY neighbors, or CREEPY neighbors?
Shotgun replied to ACMESkydiver's topic in The Bonfire
My neighbors on one side are ok... they are a cute little family with two kids and a dog... but they probably don't like us because we are weird and have the occasional wild party. The neighbors on the other side are a bit annoying though... they seem to have about 50 people living there, with children outside screaming at any given time of the day... and they regularly park two cars in front of our house - I've counted about 10 cars that seem to belong to them that are parked all over our street... I've actually been thinking about contacting the city about them because I'm pretty sure they are violating a city ordinance, but I don't really want to be an asshole... -
Female...Better temperment (although they can be bitter at times) Really??? I prefer the personalities of male cats. Female cats are too needy for my liking (in my experience). My favorite cats have been big fat boys that like to cuddle with me.

Barbara Bush Says Katrina May Have Been A Help For Poor Evacuees
Shotgun replied to rhino's topic in Speakers Corner
For some of these people who were really poor, it might actually turn out to be a good thing. Before Katrina, they were tucked away in New Orleans where no one ever thought about them. Now they have a whole country of people who are interested in giving them jobs and helping them. Some might end up with better lives than they had before. -
Booze, food, pornography, and some things that I can't tell you about.

Two (or three) cats is definitely better than one, but that doesn't keep them from playing with things that they're not supposed to (in my experience), especially if they are indoor-only kitties.
-
I have had just one cat in the past... From my experience, I would say they definitely are happier in pairs (or three is good too ), especially if they are from the same litter.

Not sure if this is the type of book you're looking for, but I enjoyed Patricia Cornwell's The Body Farm. I mostly read non-fiction though....

Craigslist also has some missing persons ads: http://www.craigslist.org/about/help/katrina_aid.html (Clidk on any of the cities listed and there will be links for missing persons.) There is also a link on there for missing persons websites: http://pensacola.craigslist.org/laf/95534597.html

Alcohol destroys families and drunk people suck
Shotgun replied to sundevil777's topic in Speakers Corner
Oh, OK.... Well I absolutely agree with you on that. I have no doubt that marijuana is a less harmful drug than alcohol, so it makes no sense that it is illegal while alcohol is not only legal but pretty much a staple in our society. The "war on drugs" is one of the most useless and ridiculous ideas that our government has ever come up with. It has done nothing to curtail drug use in our country, and has only increased the already unbelievably high prison population in the US, probably turning some "victimless criminals" into "real criminals". The ads about marijuana use supporting terrorism were particularly asinine; take away the illegality of marijuana and support for terrorism or any other black market/criminal activities associated with the drug will pretty much disappear... Now I in no way encourage anyone to use marijuana - it does have some harmful effects - but I believe that in the alcohol-positive, Prozac nation that we live in, it should at least be a (legal) option. -

He was replying to freethefly's original post that said: which would mean that if he has 2-3 beers by the fire after a day of jumping that he should never be allowed to drive at all. I don't think he was saying that he was going to drive immediately after having those 2-3 beers.
