  1. This doesn't sound like a "set up"... It sounds like a bad move on her part. It would seem like a really good idea to find out about the laws of the place that you're traveling to before carrying illegal drugs with you.
  2. I cannot imagine this scenario you describe...it sounds like the demise of passion, creativity, & individuality, not to mention ROMANCE. Really??? I think the scenario sounds like a _good_ thing. But then I didn't read it as being a unisex society or a society where everyone was the same, just a culture where discrimination no longer happens enough to be much of an issue, and isn't that pretty much what we all want? As for the calendar, I can see Jan's point of view and I can see the point of view of those who don't agree with her - doesn't appear to be a black and white issue. But it's not really any of my business since I am not involved with JFTC... Anyhow, good luck to everyone who is involved with JFTC. I hope everything goes well, everyone has a great time, and lots of money is raised for the cause!

    anatomy paper

I'm sort of partial to the nervous system (mostly the brain) as my favorite subject of human anatomy, so I would probably write a paper on the brain/nervous system and it's role in controlling everything that would be involved while skydiving: movement, sensory perception, homeostatic functions, hormones, memory, etc.
  4. It's not that simple. Organized religion has been coming after the gay community for years. They refuse to leave Us alone. They lobby to make homosexuality illegal, take away our jobs, have us evicted from our homes. I can't tell you how many times I've had wonderful religious folks get in my face, after coming into the Gay community, and yell in my face telling me I'm going to hell. They need to leave us alone. Sorry, Keith. I guess a was being a bit of an ass with that statement. I was writing a paper yesterday on "Sexual Orientation and the Family" (same-sex marriage, gay/lesbian parents, etc.) and another on how religion shapes a person's political beliefs, and I ended up tying the two together a bit and then feeling even more pissy than usual towards religion. (I'm all for being tolerant of other people's religions as long as they are not interfering with other people, but certain churches seem to have enough power that they use it to push their "morals" on everyone else.) It seems to me that certain religions have played a huge part in promoting inequality in our society (this current "war" on homosexuality is a perfect example). I suppose my "simple solution" comment was aimed at Catholic gays or women who felt the Church was being discriminatory by not allowing gay priests or female priests - just leave the Church. If enough people either leave or challenge some of their religion's archaic views, then we might make a little more progress in tolerance.
  5. And my first thought was, "Why yes, I do rule, but how did Billy figure that out?" As for the Shotgun Rules, I think I always got to ride shotgun in the plane because my rig says "SHOTGUN" on it.
  6. If you ever make it out to West Texas, you should definitely visit WetSex in Stanton... that's a fun little dz... and I seem to recall Chuck saying that they even have a bathroom now. And of course I would recommend visiting my home dz, Skydive San Marcos (in between San Antonio & Austin). Lots of good people there, lots of pretty green grass to land on (I miss the greenness of that part of TX!), and sometimes some good bbq at night - just watch out if they bust out the gun thingie that shoots potatoes out of it.
  7. I didn't know that you don't drink... interesting... I quickly looked on Yahoo to see if there was such a thing as "Festival of Whores" but all I got was a bunch of stuff about the Florida state legislature.
  8. Umm... No. But I will be going to at least one of the Octoberfest events that will be going on around San Diego over the next month (starting this weekend). I am in need of some good German food... but I think a lot of people go to those things for the beer.
  9. Yum! I haven't been to a rodeo in ages. I used to go to the Pecos Rodeo every year with my dad. I always liked the dances they had at the rodeo, where I would get to two-step with all the cowboys.
  10. So you didn't need to have sex to find out if you were gay or not. I'm pretty sure it would be the same for a homosexual person.
  11. Oh well... Homosexuals or women, or anyone else who the Catholic Church discriminates against, are free to disassociate themselves from the Church if they don't like being considered inferior. Seems like a pretty simple solution to me.
  12. Why is everyone always telling me that??? They could probably ship it to you in Kosovo. It would just be thawed out and ready to eat by the time it gets to you. (Damnit, this stuff won't thaw out quick enough. I want some brisket NOW!) I'm not familiar with the "Pig Stands"... Funny, I never cared much for BBQ sandwiches. I just like a plate of brisket with beans and coleslaw, and I am VERY picky about the brisket.
  13. Some of the best damn BBQ in the world. http://www.airribs.com/ They now have a handful of locations across Texas, but being in CA I have to have the stuff shipped to me. (I've given up on finding any decent BBQ out here!) Oh, and the smoked turkey should be ok for a diet, and it's almost as good as the brisket.
  14. wow what were you thinking? he is much to old for you, and he has really let himself slide Hey! He's the same age as me... and in about the same condition. Poor little guy... He really lives on the bookshelf though... It's been a while since I slept with a teddy bear.
  15. Nah, he's not a Texan, so he doesn't have a gun. Mmm... I just took the brisket out of the freezer to thaw, and my mouth is already watering... Not quite as good as having it fresh from the County Line, but thank god they ship this stuff!
  16. I hate you. And everyone else who can sleep that well. You can all burn in hell. Sorry, that is my sleep-deprived insanity talking...
  17. Rich (my husband) would probably be pissed off at first. But after a short time of living without a psychotic woman in the house, he would probably thank you.
  18. Yeah, what he said. Welcome to Texas, Boinky - isn't it fun? Oh, I am so freakin' homesick! California's ok, but I want to go HOME!!!!! Somebody come kidnap me and take me back to Texas!!!! Please. At least I have some Texas BBQ in the freezer.
  19. I'm such a complicated sleeper that I can't even begin to tell you...
  20. I've kept a bed buddy for 34 years. Isn't he cute?
  21. Can't think of anyone I would pay that much to see... but then it would be pretty hard to get me to go to any big concert now even if it was free - did plenty of that when I was younger, and I don't like the big crowds anymore. Geez, I sound like an old fart....
  22. Ok, that's it. I am definitely kicking your ass if I ever meet you. You little sissy.
  23. Doesn't sound all that smooth. Some people from Houston are just turning around and going back home because it's too hard to get out of town: http://news.yahoo.com/fc/world/tropical_storms_and_hurricanes As for everything else that you mentioned, I would definitely credit most of it to lessons learned from Katrina.
  24. 2mg Valium works pretty well but it takes a while to take effect. NO! Don't waste Valium on the cat. Just take a few yourself and you won't even notice the cat. But seriously, don't give your cat anything that you didn't get from the vet or that isn't specifically for cats! The vet can give you some good stuff...
  25. Hmm, I've known plenty of people in monogamous relationships whose homes, phone bills, and lives were zoos. I think it has less to do with what type of relationship you're in, and a lot more to do with what kind of personality you have.
