    Just for Walt.

Oh, ok... I figured he posted pictures of his poo again and got banned.

    Just for Walt.

Why? What did he do this time?

    Just for Walt.

Why did I know this was going to be about poo before I even clicked on it? (And why did I go ahead and click on it anyway? )
  4. Why do you keep comparing avoiding someone's restaurant to committing criminal acts? Makes no sense... If a business owner chooses a poor method of advertising and goes out of business because of it, there is only one person to blame - the owner.
  5. No, the USPA does not control dating amongst skydivers... well, at least not yet.
  6. That seems to be the best answer so far...
  7. If she was a devout Christian and changed to Mormonism just so that she could marry a guy, that seems to indicate that she doesn't believe very strongly in her religion at all. To me, it seems to indicate that marrying this particular guy is more important to her than her own religion. (Which is fine by me, if that's what makes her happy. Can't say I understand though.)
  8. Ok, I just don't see avoiding his restaurant as "expressing your politics." I see it as not supporting someone who chooses to use offensive advertising (for those who find it to be offensive). If it's important enough that you want to go let the air out of his tires then maybe you should go in and debate the message with the owner. But personally I'd probably just assume it wasn't worth my time and avoid the restaurant. I've never lived anywhere where there was such a shortage of restaurants or grocery stores that I felt the need to eat somewhere that I found to be offensive for whatever reason. Now if it was the only place within hundreds of miles where I could get some decent crab legs or barbecue, then I might have a different opinion...
  9. Not on topic, but this is an interesting quote from the article you posted. Interesting in that the author makes such a bold statement, yet she does nothing to back it up. I'm curious to know how exactly she thinks abortion has "failed women."
  10. How is not going to his restaurant the same as letting the air out of his tires? He has a sign for his restaurant. Signs are used for advertising. He has decided to use his political opinions as part of his advertising by putting them on his restaurant's sign. This type of advertising will appeal to some people and it will turn others away (and some will be indifferent), same as with any other type of advertising.
  11. Since he is the one choosing to loudly express his political beliefs using his non-political business, he is the one that would be inflicting his politics on his children's livelihood. The employees can pretty much choose whether they want to work there or not.
  12. I didn't say anything about banning him from putting anything on his signs, but consumers are free to avoid supporting his business if they find his signs to be offensive. In this particular case, I didn't see any of his signs that offended me enough to avoid his restaurant. Now if he were to put up something that said, "LETS JUST KILL ALL THE DAMN BEANERS," then I would think he was an asshole/idiot and I wouldn't want to give him any of my money no matter how good his food might be. Me too. I'd be willing to bet that he's gained a lot more business than he's lost from the messages on his signs. Oh, and you can even buy a teddy bear with his message on it.
  13. Hmm, I can't find anything in the definition of "religious" that would apply to me, but if you want to think that I am religious then that's ok... Not sure that I understand why though.
  14. That gets at the last of my questions. Why wouldn't you marry someone who has different beliefs? Is it only Christians you wouldn't marry or are Jews and Muslims out as well (assuming you were currently single)? Basically I wouldn't marry anyone who believes in any kind of god; I would only marry someone who is an atheist or maybe an agnostic. I don't mind having friends that are religious, and I respect their beliefs, but I don't want to spend the rest of my life with someone who has such vastly different ideas than I do. I think that a person's religious beliefs make up a huge part of who they are, and those beliefs tend to affect many aspects of that person's behavior. And I certainly don't want to spend the rest of my life with someone who thinks I'll be going to hell since I haven't accepted his god. Also... I have tried having a relationship with a Christian, and it just didn't work. He would get upset at certain things I would say because he thought I was being disrespectful to his religion. But I wasn't trying to be disrespectful; I was just being myself. It is one thing to watch what I say in public out of respect for others' beliefs, but I am not going to do that in private with my SO.
  15. That has never made any sense to me either, yet so many people seem to do it. I am an atheist, and I would never marry a Christian. If a guy told me that he would quit being a Christian and become an atheist just so he could marry me, I would think he was a total idiot. (Of course, this isn't likely to ever happen since I probably wouldn't date a Christian either... And I'm already married.)
  16. I don't think that occasional marijuana use would affect any of those jobs unless they were going to work stoned. I think it would have about the same effect as occasional alcohol use.

    "SLUT"

It sounds to me like they have different ideas regarding sexual relationships, so it would probably be a bad idea for them to have sex with each other. And if he honestly thinks that her ideas on sex make her a slut, then he probably shouldn't even be friends with her because he obviously doesn't have a very high opinion of her.
  18. This one cracked me up: http://www.casadice.com/signs/pages/outside_sign013.htm And I got a laugh from all of the spelling mistakes in his signs, since he keeps going on about English.
  19. Funny, we were just discussing this last night - the incompetence of our local post office. I have complained to the manager there before, but it made no difference. Anyhow, not trying to hijack the thread, but the mail system out here does suck pretty bad. (Maybe it's a California thing; I never had this problem in Texas. )
  20. http://www.zydot.com/ultimate%20blend1.html I have used this before and it worked. But that was at least six years ago, so the tests may have changed. And as others have said, the best option would be to quit smoking.
  21. If the owner puts a large display of his opinions outside his restaurant, then his opinions might affect my decision to eat there.
  22. I got my MR2 up to 126; that was the fastest I could get it to go. That felt pretty fast in that little car, so I thought it was a pretty good rush. Strange what a difference 26 mph can make, since I normally drove that car around 100 mph and that didn't seem particularly fast. But now I have become a more responsible driver, and I rarely drive over the speed limit. (And the 4-cylinder Ford Ranger that I now drive probably wouldn't go too fast anyway.)
